CTD 118 & JAI 42

CTD118-4

Ooooh, I am SO excited about my card today!  I got to play with some wonderful colors, use a bunch of stamp sets and incorporate some fun embellies!  Woohoo!  First, I was able to use Broni’s  CTD colors for this week:

CTD118

as well as the Just Add Ink sketch 42:

JAI42

to make my vintage Santa card:

CTD118-1

It looks SO much better in person!  My only issue was the “pleating”---it is not as even as I would like, but that blingy vintage silver double-layer snowflake hopefully will bedazzle everyone into not even noticing:

CTD118-3

I had gotten a bunch of MS glitter on sale quite a while ago and one of the colors was “vintage silver”…..and it is SO pretty!  I used a snowflake punch as well as the Northern Frost diecut snowflake strip to make two snowflakes.  I coated them with Versamark, added Heat & Stick powder, then drizzled that yummy glitter all over and re-heated for a few seconds to make it all stick!  Wowza!  I am loving it!   Here’s the inside, keeping with the vintage theme:

CTD118-5

I also used a Color Spritzer as well as daubered the edges of my image for a more vintage look, and the “ruflle” was crimped with a crimper!  You should see my desk…..it’s a mess, but what FUN!  TFL today!!!  If you have any questions about anything, leave me a note!

  • Stamps:  Vintage Christmas, Crafty Secrets; Holiday Greetings, Sweet & Sassy; Snowy Woods, Artistic Outpost; Vintage Christmas Expressions, Cornish Heritage Farms
  • Paper:  Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Deck the Halls DP
  • Ink:  Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
  • Acc:  Modern Label Punch, Chocolate Pearls, MS Snowflake punch, MS Glitter, Heat & Stick Powder, Heat Tool, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Crimper, Crumb Cake Marker, Spritzer, Dauber

Now, how about a “deer-in-the-headlights” look? LOL!

ColourQ 58

DSCF8001

Woohoo, I actually got to do the ColourQ challenge this week!  It’s not a rip-roaring, uber-creative, knock-your-socks-off card, but I enjoyed creating it for my ex-SIL who just had some surgery.  So here’s the palette:

cqc58

I had PTI’s Wreath for All Seasons set laying on my desk from another project, so I just went with it, along with the Mojo Monday sketch 64 from this week:

And here’s the card:

The recipient is not a fussy, frilly kind of gal, so I think this will appeal to her.  It uses a mixture of PTI sets, some BG and SU papers and retired SU ribbon.  Lots of sponging gives it a rustic look.  TFL!  And here’s a picture of Cassidy:

This is from the weekend….poor little thing had a bad tummyache yesterday and just wanted to be held all day!

  • Stamps:  Wreath for All Seasons, Autumn Abundance, Text Style Background Basics, PTI
  • Paper:  Confetti White, Cajun Craze, So Saffron, Always Artichoke Patterns II DP, BG Kraft
  • Ink:  Early Espresso, So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake
  • Acc:  Circle Nesties, Button & thread, Grosgrain Ribbon (ret), Daubers, Lots of Tags Diecut

Paper Players #23

DSCF6019

LOL, I should have saved Saturday’s post for the Paper Players challenge, which is to use a snowman in your creation!  I have had this idea in my head for a while, so last night (when I couldn’t sleep) I got some buttons from my old button can and went to work:

DSCF6018

I free-hand cut the scarf, hat, nose and arms from cardstock, and snowy hills from vellum; I added some “buttons” using black brads, and I used one of the little flags from one of my CTD team member’s flag set along with a sentiment from Punch Pals. I added a red floss bow, and there is glitter all over the place!  I haven’t added a sentiment to the inside because I am thinking this could be a birthday card OR a Christmas card!  Thanks for visiting today!

  • Stamps:  Northern Hearts, Punch Pals, Sentiment Flags
  • Paper:  Not Quite navy, Bravo Burgundy, Baja Breeze Patterns DP, Vellum CS, Real Red, Only Orange, Basic Black, Chocolate Chip
  • Ink:  Craft White, Baja Breeze, Memento Black
  • Acc: Buttons (stash), brads, floss, Pop-up Glue Dots, Glitter, Dauber

Hostess Gifts

DSCF6010

I have been playing with some new sets, and made a little gift set for my club hostess, Wendie.  I saw a cute little snowman hat on Heather’s blog here (the post was from October 27, but I can’t get it to link for some reason).  She has some very creative stuff, so I went to work and made my own version of Frosty’s hat:

DSCF6005

I made a little card to go with it; the snowman image is actually a tag; it’s adhered to the card with Dotto, so it can be removed and used on a gift:

and of course, a little piece of candy:

Boy, this set Jolly Old Saint Nick from the Holiday mini is FUN to use!!  I think these guys need some glitter, though…how did I forget that?  Maybe because I was preoccupied with this:

I Actually Scrapped!

DSCF4838

I am not a very good scrapbooker, but since I now have a granddaughter and take pictures all the time, I really have no excuse not to at least TRY to do a page now and then.  This one was very simple, as I wanted to highlight the beautiful SU Deck the Halls DP:

DSCF4840

I added a few die cut Crumb Cake snowflakes that had been embossed with Versamark ink and Iridescent Ice EP to complement my sepia photo:

DSCF4839

I also stamped a portion of Christmas Collage on vellum in White craft ink and used the Square Scallop diecut:

DSCF4838-1

I adhered everything with Dotto, as I will probably re-do my journaling piece as I am not really happy with it.  Even though it’s not “expert”, I think it will give my customers an idea of how pretty the papers are!

Since my little Cassidy sounds like Snuffleupagus today with a little congestion, she is not in the mood for having her photo taken!  Instead, on this gray, rainy day, my cat Pumpkin has taken over my computer desk (and now you can see how messy my desk is!):

DSCF4842

As you can see, I don’t have much room to use my mouse…or my calculator or my card reader…..oh well, she doesn’t grace me with her presence very often, so I am enjoying her company, even with her back to me!  Enjoy your day!

Color Throwdown #117

DSCF4824

Happy Wednesday!  I couldn’t help but play the CTD today, because the colors were so happy!  What do you think?

swatch 117

I put on some Christmas music and broke open my new SU set, Jolly Old Saint Nick, to make a quick little easel card:

He’s stamped in Stazon and colored with Craft White and a blender pen, using Marina Mist to shade him.  The 3D snowflakes are from the Northern Frost diecut strip----LOVE them---and the stamped snowflakes on the Marina Mist card are from the hostess set, Northern Hearts.  Everything is liberally sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds!  TFL!

And here’s a peek at my little sweetie pie:

Happy November!

Wow, how can it be November first already?  Time flies!  It seems like just yesterday that Tammy asked me to be part of a new challenge blog called Color Throwdown!  I have had so much fun with the girls on the team, as well as the girls on the ColourQ and Paper Players teams. But life brings changes, and I feel the need to step down from my DT commitments for a while.  I will still be stamping, blogging and participating in the challenges, but in a more casual frame of mind!!  I haven’t had time to comment and visit my favorite blogs, and that makes me sad, so hopefully this will give me a bit more time.  And the worst part is that I started stamping because I love sending out cards, and I have fallen behind on that as well!  I so need to catch up!

That being said, today I am sharing a couple goodies I received recently from my wonderful stamping friends!  The first is a cute Halloween card from Beth:

DSCF4810

I just love that punched drippy goo!!!

And a pretty little goodie from Kathy:

DSCF4811

which snazzily opens up to reveal a little hand sanitizer:

Ack!  I LOVE that little guy peeking out from his little hiding place!!!  Thanks, girls, for both!!!

And I can’t pass up sharing my little granddaughter’s first Halloween costume:

Have a great Monday!
