Can’t you just see this little guy “dreaming” about cupcakes?  They’re all glittered up:

Just My Type

DSCF8513

Hope everybody had a wonderful weekend….ours was a whirlwind and now I have to play catch-up!  Today’s CAS74 at SCS was to use Carrie’s Cakes as an inspiration.  I was getting heart palpitations looking at these things…unbelievable!!!  I wanted to use some of my new papers to make a few samples for my upcoming clubs, so you will have to s-t-r-e-t-c-h your imagination to see how I used this cake as my inspiration for this card:

DSCF8512

Okay, so it IS a stretch!  But the cake is just an inspiration, okay?  This card is pretty straightforward….I did use my Scallop Square diecut, but sliced it down the middle and moved the piece over one scallop to make a scallop rectangle!   Now off to tackle the pile of laundry I have!

  • Stamps:  Puns from the Past
  • Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DP
  • Ink:  Stazon
  • Acc:  Scallop Square Diecut; Modern Label Punch, 1 3/8” Circle Punch, Scallop Punch, 1/4” Circle Punch

Paper Players Challenge

DSCF8353

Lesley has a sweet challenge for us today:  Oh Baby!  We get to make a baby-themed card or project!

Theme 2 Oh Baby

Since my daughter is due with her first child in about a month, there are definitely babies on the brain in our household!  The timing was perfect for me to use this challenge for her baby shower card!  And Stampin’ Up!’s new Baby Bundle was a fun choice for my card:

DSCF8352

I had just enough Tea Party DP left to make the background for this card, along with some Pink Pirouette and other pastel colors!  Doesn’t that little baby look so cute sitting up in her little baby carriage!!!  I used markers and blender pens to color in the images which had been stamped in Stazon.  And here’s a little peek at the inside as well:

DSCF8356

There are so many cute images in this set, the possibilities are endless!

So now, the Paper Players want to see what you can create—a baby card, scrapbook page or 3D item—let your creativity flow!  Check out the Always Playing with Paper blog for all the details, and to see what the designers have come up with!  Have fun!

  • Stamps:  Baby Bundle
  • Paper:  WW, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Tea Party
  • Ink:  Stazon, Daffodil Delight
  • Acc:  Small, Large, Scallop, 1”, and 1 1/4” Circle Punches; Markers, Blender Pen, Dimensionals, Striped Grosgrain ribbon

And have a blessed, safe 4th of July---remember what a wonderful country in which we live, and let us not take that for granted!

Just Add Ink CAS Christmas

DSCF8501

Just a quick post of two CAS Christmas cards using a lovely sketch from Just Add Ink.  Here’s the sketch:

JAI24

I did take the liberty of moving my sentiments to the upper right hand corner as they would not fit in the lower right!  The first uses a retired SU set, Peaceful Wishes:

DSCF8499

The image was stamped in Mellow Moss and the berries colored with a blender pen and Rich Razzleberry, right over the MM.  This also qualifies for the Stampin’ Royalty challenge, Seeing Double, where you stamp two of an image.  Sentiment was also stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

My second card was an experiment to see what green hue in the current SU color family lineup would work with Rich Razzleberry.  I tried River Rock as a substitute for my beloved Mellow Moss; not as nice as I had hoped for, but I am not one to toss something unless it’s REALLY bad, so I added a rhinestone to redeem it:

DSCF8502

This uses the Medallion set and Many Merry Messages.  So, if you’re a demonstrator, what color will YOU be using as a substitute for Mellow Moss?  I’d like to get some feedback!

Thanks for visiting today—we’ll be setting sail to take a little boat ride later, then watching fireworks on the water!  I hope you have fun today too!

Celebrations

DSCF8472

Two cards today, neither of which really makes me jump up & down, so I’ll be quick!  The first one is a birthday card for my niece, and it uses Laura’s sketch 55 from 2S4Y shown here:

2s4y sketch 55

DSCF8469

I used some BG Lemonade papers with my SU Things I Love set; I am thinking some brighter papers would have been better!  Oh well, I blinged the images up with some rhinestones and added a little oomph on the inside:

DSCF8471

The second card is for two SCS challenges, F4A19 and WT277, as well as Sharon’s Star Light, Star Bright challenge. F4A19 is to use a gold star on your project, and WT277 is to make a July 4th card without using red, white or blue; Sharon’s is to incorporate stars into your design.  I had an idea in my mind, which didn’t really translate to paper, but anyway, here it is:

DSCF8476

and the inside:

DSCF8478

  • Paper: WW, BG Lemonade, Basic Black, Vellum Cardstock

Little Green Apples…

DSCF8464-1

“God didn’t make little green apples”….if you’re of a certain age, you might remember that Bobby Goldsboro song!  I had no idea what in the world he was singing about, but I liked the tune!  And while I was making this card, that song just kept running through my head! There were three challenges that could fit my little green apple theme:

sketch70

and here is my card:

DSCF8466

Now truthfully, I don’t know what this card is supposed to be “saying” by having the progression of bitten-into apples…..”I am bored while I am missing you, so I am eating an apple”???  I have no idea what my thought process was, but I did think it was a cute idea, so I am just going with the flow here.  I used some Wild Wasabi, Garden Green and Confetti White cardstock along with some Basic Grey Urban Prairie (I think—it was a loose sheet floating around).  The apple punch is from MS, and I sponged some color on my apples and used a SU gel pen for the “bites”, which are punched with SU’s scallop oval punch.  The little apple is from CHF, Making the Grade.  I LOVE this sketch but did struggle with it….overthinking, I guess!

Well, that’s it for today….gearing up for the holiday weekend, boating, visiting friends…..a fun time!!  Hopefully I can squeeze in something for tomorrow!
