Vintage Sewing Collage

Just a quick little post today….not sure how much stamping time I will have, so I thought I would post another card I made for the sale basket at my Curves:

DSCF7757

I did a little collage of images from a new CHF set I just got called Sew Special.  Oh my goodness, I am IN LOVE with this set.  I am such a softie for vintage sewing stuff!  Anyway, I stamped my images in Basic Gray and Going Gray on Very Vanilla, then added some faux lace eyelet (see tutorial here on Sage’s blog), a punched border and my sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The DP is from K&Co, Small Wonders Boy; ribbon is retired SU.

Is anyone challenge-challenged?  There are so many out there, I am suffering from withdrawal, since I just can’t get to them all!  Anyone else feel my frustration?  I wish there were more hours in the day!

Color Throwdown #91

swatch 91

Welcome Wednesday and welcome Color ThrowdownBroni is our hostess this week….look at these bright, fun colors!  We’d love to have you play with these (or something close); check out the CTD blog for all the details, so we can see what you come up with!

I found some interesting K&Co paper design in a pad of pre-folded cards that I had;  the pattern is not one I really paid much attention to until I realized that the CTD colors were hiding within that brown background!  (I hope Broni doesn’t mind that I added another color!)  I mounted the card on a quarter sheet of Tempting Turquoise, and for my image, I pulled out a much-neglected PTI set, Green Thumb and made a little arrangement:

I actually went over the greenery in the DP with a blender pen and some Kiwi Kiss ink to give it an even more intense  color!  The watering can is popped up on dimensionals and embellished with a little button & bow!

Act 28 Color Challenge

DSCF7751

I needed a couple more cards for my Mother’s Day stash at Curves, and after spending the weekend at the shore, I remembered I had this sweet little set from Crafty Secrets, so I went to work with Stacey’s Curtain Call Color Challenge:

act 28

Oooh, I love these colors.  I think I will play with them some more!  My card is pretty simple, since I needed to make several of them:

And just a little stamping on the inside, too.

So, is the pollen bad in your area?  I feel like I am in a fog today….my eyes are swollen and blurry, good thing I can just stay home!  My sympathies to all you allergy sufferers out there!

Colour Q Challenge 31

Hey, everybody, happy Tuesday!  Check out what Arielle has chosen for the ColourQ’s  cool color combo for today:

cqc31

I was antsy to play with one of the sets from the new mini, July Fourth…..hmmm, these colors don’t exactly look like the 4th of July, do they?  Well, what do you think:

CQC31_LeAnne

Stars are good ANY time, right?  And I thought they would be great in these colors for a Father’s Day card.  I saw this cool card on Regina’s blog and went to work to adapt it to Arielle’s colors and my theme!  It’s pretty simple…I used a bunch of brads—not hoarding these!—and my star punch to pop these out real quick!  The most difficult part was using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes!  Here’s a view of the card closed:

and you can see the inside view here:

Now, I have to tell you, this was not my first card.  I did another one, but really thought it was a bit too busy.  I will definitely use it for a boy’s birthday, but I just wasn’t real happy with it:

The robots are from a My Cute Stamps set; the “gears” are just circles with little bits punched from the edges; and the background was made by inking up some bubble wrap and pressing on the Crushed Curry cardstock.  The spiral stamp was a blog candy from Kelley; it is from Practicing Creativity.  And THEN I really got on a roll; I made even another one, this time really CAS:

This is probably my favorite! LOL!  Beautiful Wings embosslit and a sentiment from Flight of the Butterfly!  Can’t get any simpler than that!

Be sure to check out all the other designers and what they have come up with using this fresh color palette…you can click on the blinkie at the right and it will take you right to ColourQ!  And we want you to play too!  You might just be chosen the QUEEN!!!  Have a wonderful day!

CAS Daisy

DSCF7742

What a great weekend we had at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference on Long Beach Island, NJ!  The weather was HOT!  Much better than the wet & rainy weather we had the last time I was there!  It was a real time of spiritual refreshment and fun with my sisters in Christ!  However, I came home to over 100 emails and 300 Reader posts….oh dear!  So if I didn’t comment on your posts, I apologize.  I just have a really busy week, so I hope you understand.

Before going off to work today, I have already made two quiches, a lemon bread, my DH’s dinner and this card!  Had to get out of that hot hot kitchen!!!  The CAS challenge today is to make a card with May flowers---and I was ready! I had this digi image already printed out, as well as the gingham paper; both are from a very nice blog called Bird’s Cards.  You gotta  check it out!  Colored it in quickly with some Copics and made it into a CAS card:

I loosely followed the Stamping411 Sketch #149, turning it on its side:

I haven’t quite decided how to use this card, so I’ll add the sentiment later!  Thanks for visiting today; tomorrow is ColourQ, so be sure to stop back to see Arielle’s new challenge!

FAST Christmas Card

DSCF7737

I had this emblem from Waltzingmouse already stamped and diecut on my desk, and I thought it would look great on a Christmas card.  It’s actually Old Olive, as is the cardstock base; my camera really struggles with capturing Real Red, and so throws off the Olive tint.  So pretend it looks OO to you!  Anyway, I used some textured paper from the Christmas Jingle set and the snowflake from Best Wishes & More to make this fast card:

Here’s a peek at the inside:

DSCF7739

Ah, not so much red, so the olive looks better!  I really wanted to put some bling, or glitter, or something on this, but I left it alone to make it really CAS!  Another one for my Christmas card stash!!!  Thanks so much for visiting today!  It is HOT here in PA---a taste of summer!

Exciting News!

DSCF7654

Imagine my excitement a couple weeks ago, when I got an email from Pam Imholz, a shaker and mover over at one of my favorite challenge sites, JUGS!  She asked me if I’d like to be the guest designer for May….wow, how could I refuse?  YES!!  I have been a fan of their unique challenge blog since its beginning!  So today begins my DT gig!  Here we go!

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge from Maria:

JUGS31

A while back I had been looking through my sewing supplies for things I could use in my cardmaking.  I learned to sew through 4H when I was about 12, so I have been collecting sewing stuff for a loooong time!  I came across a full package of vintage snaps on a neat little card; the snaps were in a circle (wish I’d taken a picture of them!) and I thought they would look cool as an embellishment on a sewing-themed card.  So I pulled out some papers from  October Afternoon, along with Puns from the Past, and went to work:

JUGS 05-01-10

I did some machine stitching on the panels (still working on my straight stitches!) and shabbied them up a bit with some More Mustard ink.  I also found a reel of striped bias tape, so I made a little bow out of that.  The sentiment is from PTI. Thanks for visiting today!  Be sure to check out the JUGS blog so you can see what the other designers have come up with!
