Happy Wednesday, everyone! Midweek is upon us! I got a set of stencils before Christmas and I finally had a change to break them out, just in time for the latest JUGS challenge, which is stencils!
Since cross-stitching is right up there with stamping on my list of favorite hobbies, I couldn't resist getting this stencil from Spellbinders, and I matched them up with some sewing-related stamps I've had in my stash forEVER! Here we go:
I am still learning about stenciling---what type of ink pads work better than others; what kind of blending tools to use, how much pressure is needed---it's definitely a learning experience. For this card I used Pretty in Pink, Poppy Parade, Berry Burst, Basic Gray and Crushed Curry for my floss. I stamped and diecut two hearts from Simon Says Stamp in Pretty in Pink and Strawberry Slush, then stamped a "hi" from Paper Smooches; that's where the button is from as well:
On the inside, some more images and a sentiment from the Paper Smooches set. I thought this would make a fun Valentine!
I have vowed to NOT start any more cross-stitch projects this year until I actually finish some of the ones I've stitched over the last couple of years. Framing is quite expensive and I find I don't really need any more little pillows, but that is probably what I'll end up doing with them! Stay tuned! Hopefully I'll actually finish one and share it with you!
Thanks for popping in today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

LeAnne, that stencil was made for you! What a darling card - you've really captured the look of the real skeins of floss with your ink choices!
I'm quite sure I have both of these old sets in my stash - still as cute as can be!

What a great card using this stencil! How fun. It looks like you nailed the stenciling technique and your embellishments and sentiments are just perfect! Have fun completing your stitching projects!
OOOHHH! I got that stencil set too when it went on clearance, I love what you did with it here! My mom taught me how to cross stitch when I was a kid : ) I still stitch, too, we have quite a few stitched pieces up on the walls and I have a stack of things I haven't had framed yet too. Anyway, your stitched Valentine is simply adorable! I haven't worked on my current project in a few weeks, but I need to get back to it.
Oh, what a perfect find for you and I love what you've done with it! Thanks so much for playing along at Just Us Girls with your cute card!
