FMS697 Happy We Are Friends

Happy Thursday, everyone! My card today uses the sketch from my fun friend Linda at FMS:

I saw a very pretty card made by Wendy Weixler (you can see it HERE) and she used the Spring Corners bundle in a way I wouldn't have thought to! I don't have any of the yellow papers she used, so I opted to use a different color palette with Linda's sketch and used some florals and patterns from Floral Charm:

I diecut a panel of the DSP with the floral die, then sponged some Blackberry Bliss and Pecan Pie underneath.  After adding the sentiment, I really liked the grungy look Wendy achieved, so I stamped some speckles (and got a little carried away), then added my layers of DSP and cardstock.  THEN I decided to get really creative and try a new product called Metallic Textures Rub Ons.  These are very easy to use; they rub on just with your fingernail!  I may have gotten carried away with these gold speckles as well, LOL!  I will just consider this card an experiment!  Hopefully you can see a wee bit of the gold, it really does shine!

My final embellishment was a little Linen Thread bow, oh, and I did do some faux stitching along the bottom Basic Beige panel!  I can't wait to play some more with these rub-ons!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  We have company coming this weekend, but next week I want to share some of the pretty cards I got for my birthday!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB260 You're Too Wonderful

Happy Wednesday, peeps! The gals over at RetroRubber have a fun sketch this week:

I needed a thank you card for one of my knitting friends from church, so I pulled out Zany Zoo (2023) and Hand Knit (2010) to make her card:

I stamped, diecut and colored my knitting llama with some Blends, then mounted her on a "knitted" panel from Mintay, which is also the background panel.  A little ribbon trim created the diagonal element of the sketch, and three skeins of yarn were stamped, colored and fussy-cut for the other elements:

A sentiment from the same set was stamped on Pecan Pie cardstock and diecut with a Pink & Main banner die:

It was fun to color this fun little image; I hope she appreciates it as much as I appreciated her gift!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Country Rooster Birthday

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  No challenges today, just a fun card for my niece, who has a mini-farm and raises chickens, among other things!  Now I know my card features roosters but I am hoping she'll enjoy it just the same. I got these fun papers from Unity recentlly and paired them with a  Stamp Simply sentiment:

This is a large card, 5" square, but I wanted to get as much of the 6x6 paper on there as I could! I cut the panel diagonally and added some faux stitching down the middle, then added my birthday sentiment and a few enamel dots::

I added a sentiment from The Right Words on the inside:

Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC640 Blue Florals

Happy Monday, all!  I hope you had a good weekend!  We had sun, rain and HOT temps, LOL!  We have a new Atlantic Hearts sketch this week and I enjoyed this one a lot:

Dana gave me some GORGEOUS papers for my birthday and I just had to use some of them on my card today:

I used two of the patterns from the same sheet and I was hoping to be able to NOT cover up that little bird on the floral one, LOL!  I barely got him in there!  The flowers were stamped in Misty Moonlight; the sentiments were done in Night of Navy and Craft White.  I embossed the background with the Exposed Brick EF and added some Honey Bee navy sequins:

I have a couple of thank you cards to send out and this will be one of them!  I hope you'll play along with our interesting sketch this week....can't wait to see what you create!  Wednesday we will reveal what all the DT members created, so be sure to check back at the Atlantic Hearts blog then!

Cassidy asked me to help her cut down one of Wayne's shirts he wasn't wearing any more so she could wear it; we got out the ironing board and sewing machine and we learned about seam allowances, how to thread a bobbin and how to thread the machine.

Here's the final product:

It's not perfect, but she learned a lot!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP748 Hello Summer

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and this week, Jan has an awesome sketch for us! I REALLY enjoyed playing with this one:

I decided to veer off from doing my Christmas cards and chose to create something decidedly summer-ish!  Here we go:

Oh, I just love all these pastel "flavors"!!  I had gotten a paper pad called On the Sunny Side from Not 2 Shabby last year and found these beautiful prints and summer elements to mix and match!  I started with a Pretty in Pink card and added layers of Lemon Lolly, Soft Sky and Pink Pirouette, diecutting and embossing some of them for interest.  The little sentiment was diecut with the Stitched Rectangle die and I fussy-cut the treats:

I stamped a sentiment from Peaceful Moments on the inside using Strawberry Slush ink:

Since this features summertime treats, I am also entering it at Handstamped Sentiments for their "Summer Vibe" challenge, as well as the Little Red Wagon, who is featuring "F" for food!

There are just so many fun possibilities with this sketch because of all the elements!  I hope you'll have as much fun with it as I did!  Share yours with us at the Paper Players--can't wait to see what you create!

Joy to the World

Happy Friday, peeps! A quick post today--it's hot and I'm headed to the pool for the first time this summer!  My card today fulfills three challenges:  Jingle Belles' Tic Tac Toe challenge; CAS on Sunday wants an animal; and Just Add Ink wants Christmas in July!

I pulled out an oldie but goodie image of these snowy rabbits and went to work:

I used the left column of animal, diecut and red; after stamping my bunnies, I cut them out with a Perennial Postage die and added a narrow mat of Real Red.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. It all went on a Smoky Slate card that was embossed with the Stitched With Whimsy die:

A pretty sentiment in Real Red went on the inside.  This is an inexpensive stamp from Scrapbook.com and I sometimes have trouble with their stamps performing well, but I found if I use Versamark first, then ink directly onto the stamp again with colored ink, they work much better! Just be sure to clean your stamp before doing the double process, you don't want to get colored ink on your Versamark pad!

My Christmas stash is growing! Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI353 Christmas Recipe

Happy Friday, all!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and we have a recipe--it's fun one, too!  Check it out:

I am not really sure how "elegant" my card is but I do have all the elements required, LOL!  Here we go:

I remembered these fun little trees on some DSP from a couple years ago and I thought they would be fun to mix with some black and gold elements!  I diecut a starry border, added some gold foil behind it, and heat-embossed a gold sentiment above the diecut. The DSP was embellished with some gold adhesive sequins, and I added a little gold thread and bow:

A simple sentiment in black on the inside, and I added some little gold stamped stars:

The sentiments are from an older Christmas set called More Merry Messages!

I hope you'll play along with our fun "recipe" this week! The design team has come up with some fabulous creations to give you some inspiration!  Check them all out at the As You See It blog!  Thanks for visiting today; enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS696 Vintage Ads

Happy Thursday, peeps! I found these vintage ads in some of my papers; I've had them for a long time and I can't even remember who makes them, so when I saw the FMS sketch this week, I thought I could put a dent in my stash!  Here's the sketch:

My proportions may be a bit off but hopefully you can still see the sketch! I don't need a baby card, but that's what came to mind when I began creating:

I trimmed down my ads to fit the front and added a Blushing Bride panel behind them (which seemed to match better on my desk than in this picture!), cutting it with an Everyday Details die, then stamping it with a little polka dot design in white craft ink.  I added a little "congratulations" banner in the center:

And a little sentiment on the inside:

I was happy to put these fun little ads to use!  It really didn't make a dent in my stash though, LOL!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

SSC365 Peaceful Birds

Happy Wednesday, peeps! My teammate Claire had a fun card on the Paper Players blog this week and I thought it was intriguing! It came from the Sunday Stamps challenge:

and I admit that I am still on a Christmas card kick--I know, I need to focus on something else, right?!  Anyway, I still have several pieces of the Nests of Winter DSP, so I pulled some of that out and came up with this:

I cut a triangle from the lighter piece, then cut it in two pieces and mounted it on a piece of Lost Lagoon that I embossed with an embossing folder from Spellbinders called Mandela BLooms.  I diecut the little birds from the DSP as well, and added a Cherry Cobbler scalloped edge behind them:

The little "peace" is from Impression Obsession, diecut with a Pink & Main banner die.  Such pretty colors together and an interesting sketch!

The kids just got back from a week in Costa Rica!

They had a blast!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC639 True Blessing

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Heart Sketch:

I toyed with several ideas, but in the end, I used some Floral Charm DSP:

I used both sides of one pattern, softening the floral pattern on the front with a layer of vellum so that the fussy-cut flowers I used for the focal point stood out a little better.  Some Timid Tiger cardstock formed a mat, and a sentiment from Unbounded Love, stamped on a panel diecut with the Every Day Arches dies.

For some added interest, I embossed the lower half of the DSP with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder, then lightly sanded it to bring out the design!  I adhered a strip of the leftover DSP on the inside for fun!

This is a sketch that is one of my favorites; a go-to one in my repertoire! I hope you'll find it to your liking as well and play along with us at Atlantic Hearts!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP747 CAS Things With Wheels

Happy Sunday, all! I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week, where it's Clean-and-Simple week, one of my favorites!  Here's my theme:

I think this theme could be great for masculine OR feminine cards! I actually went with a feminine image, using an older Waffleflower layering set that's not seen much ink:

Although it took me a couple of tries to get everything lined up, I like the graphic look of it! I  used the colors from Color Throwdown as my palette:

I used Daffodil Delight for the girl's dress, adding some gray polka dots; her bike is Memento Black and Flirty Flamingo, and the sentiment (Technique Tuesday) and shadows are Smoky Slate:

I embellished the sentiment with a gray enamel dot, then I added some pink and gold paper to match the pink bike! It all went on a Smoky Slate card base, and I stamped a sentiment from a Reverse Confetti set on the inside.

This is a little bit out of my normal style, but I think it's fun and unusual!  I hope you'll play along with our CAS challenge this week at the Players! Just remember to keep in simple!  Thanks for visiting today, enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS695 From Meow To You

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have something fun planned! I have a fun little card today which uses the sketch from FMS along with some stamps I've had for a while and haven't gotten inky!  Here's the sketch:

I have a friend who loves cats, and although her cats are not black, I am hoping she'll like this card for her birthday anyway!

This set is from Impression Obsession, and I stamped the cats on thick white cardstock, then fussy-cut them out and placed them behind a Smoky Slate oval frame.  To capture their whiskers, I first traced the outlines on the gray polka dotted paper with a pencil, then stamped them again.  The cut ones were glued on over top and then the whole thing went on a Basic White card base:

I know my card doesn't look pure white in the photo, but it is, LOL!  A punny sentiment went on the inside too:

I probably gave her a card similar to this several years ago, but since I can't remember it exactly, I am counting on the fact that she can't either!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
