IB41 Fall Beauty

Hi everyone!  Praying that this Thursday finds you safe and sound, especially if you're in the path of Hurricane Michael!   Scary weather out there!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge, and Laurel is on a roll with these lovely fall inspirations!  I went clean and simple this week as I have lots going on!  I needed some masculine birthday cards and these fit the bill perfectly:

And here is the lovely prompt!  Aren't those little acorns cute?!

Growing up on a farm in PA named Maple Shade Farms, we did not have any nut trees, which meant NO acorns and NO squirrels!!  So when I went to college in East Orange, NJ, and saw all the squirrels in the park next to our dorm, running around collecting acorns, I was so excited!  I'd never seen squirrels up close!  I said to my roommates, "Look at all the squirrels!  They're so cute!" They looked at me as if I was NUTS!  I guess New Jersey has lots of oak trees, acorns and squirrels, and they'd seen plenty!  Anyway, I still think squirrels are cute!

I started with a card base of Soft Suede with a Whisper White mat that was stamped with a sentiment from Beautiful Day, then embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  My DSP is from a couple of years ago, Into the Woods.  I added a couple of Kraft diecut leaves, sponged and embellished with some baker's twine:

I also used the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

While I had my supplies out, I went ahead and made another one, this one with only one Crumb Cake leaf and a different sentiment from the same set:

I think these are great masculine designs!  I hope you'll get some fall inspiration from Laurel's prompt and play along with us at Inspired By this week!

Cassidy couldn't wait to show me her cool hairdo!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Love this! It's funny, I was just going thru all my old DSP yesterday as I have a card order a mile long. I laid this very paper on my table to make a pack of acorn birthday cards! You must have been channeling my thoughts yesterday, LeAnne! I am trying hard to use up old papers. Love how CAS these cards are and that stitched leaf just completes these 2 cards perfectly! Nice job on both! Stay dry today as this rain and cold front moves thru. Looking forward to cooler weather over the weekend! TFS

Oh, my, that hairdo must have taken some time...perfectly designed like your card! Great take on the sketch. Maybe I'll play...I need a quick and easy card for tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your talent.

I thought the gray squirrels out East such a treat, LeAnne - in fact I mentioned it to the realtor who was present for my delight. She thought I was nuts, too!
I'm NUTS about your cards, and that cool hairdo!

I love the fall card with the acorns. I know some guys who would love that!
Tell Cassidy that I remember when my stylish, fancy cousin from Carmel/Malibu CA came to visit, and she had her hair parted with a zigzag, and I thought it was so cool! I figured that if she could do it, so could I, and parted my hair like that for a while. I will have to do it for my granddaughters now. My little granddaughters just had their very long hair cut to their shoulders so they could donate their hair to Wigs For Kids (which makes free wigs for kids). Kids only need to donate 8" of hair, but adults need 12". They were proud to do it, and now they would look sassy with a zigzag part.

Wonderful card! I love those leaves against the acorns. It is a great masculine card - something I struggle with. I may have to borrow this idea! Thanks for joining us this week at CC&S!

Beautiful Autumnal card. Love the texture of the leaves and how you've tied them with twine. Great use of the sketch too. Thanks for joining in on the fun at CC&S. Hugs Bev x
