Sparkling for the Paper Players 225

DSCF6621

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I apologize for being MIA….my annual Christmas sore throat/allergies/miserable cold has arrived, leaving me with no desire to stamp, let alone do all the other things I should be doing for the holidays!  But I persevered, because this is the last Paper Players challenge of the year!  It will last for two weeks, so you’ll have lots of time to play, though!  It’s also the last challenge for our amazing guest designers as well….it was truly a pleasure to work with each and every one of them!  We’ll have some new surprises come the new year….so be sure to stay tuned!

Our last challenge for 2014 is “Black Tie”!!!  We want to see any holiday projects are are “fancy”!  Pull out all the stops for your projects!!!  I do have several photos for my project(s), so bear with me!

When I think of “fancy”, I always think of glitter and sparkle!  The sketch at As You See It fit my starry, sparkly theme  perfectly!  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 225 Starry Sparkly Christmas

SU’s glimmer papers are fabulous for these kinds of projects….easy to cut and no glitter mess!  I used the new Dazzling Diamonds and Silver papers here, but I wanted some color as well, so using an adhesive sheet and some Pacific Point cardstock, I cut a circle and adhered some dark blue Martha Stewart glitter to it….it really packs a punch!  I added a smaller star with some pale blue glitter, then added a sentiment from a retired Cornish Heritage Farms set called Christmas Expressions.  I added some soft stars sponged in Soft Sky using the Stars Decorative Mask from SU, as well as a few Silver Encore speckles:

I did the same for the sentiment on the inside:

Since the Just Us Girls challenge this week is “Sparkle”, I am submitting this for their challenge as well!

And while I had my glimmer paper out, I decided to make a few ornaments using the Festive Flurry dies my friend Joan let me borrow (they’re on sale, too!!):

I did a gold and dazzling diamonds one (center snowflake is from Taylored Expressions):

and a smaller silver and dazzling diamonds one as well:

These are easy as pie to make, too!  To make the back look nice, I punched another flurry from either brushed silver or gold cardstock and adhered it to the glimmer flurry, but first I punched a small hole for the hanger to come through.  I found Crystal Effects worked great to glue these together…just put some clip-style clothespins on each point to hold them together while the glue dries….it only takes a minute or so.  These will go on some special packages this year!

We can’t wait to see what you create this next two weeks!  And be sure to check out the designers’ samples as well…...they will knock your fuzzy socks off!!

Cassidy had a couple days’ worth of Advent calendar to open last week since I didn’t get to see her until Wednesday:

She’s still trying to figure out how the goodies get in the boxes, LOL!

Too much of a good thing is a good thing - this applies to glitter! Love the contrast in texture between the "crunchy" glittered stars and the soft sponged stars in the background! Your sentiment treatment is lovely too - love that hand-cut detail! Thanks for playing with the As You See It Challenge this week!
