AYSI268 Watercolored Blooms

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday! It's time for a new As You See It challenge...this week's is a "Fill in the Blank"!  What is a favorite technique you use in your stamping?

I love all aspects of creating hand-stamped cards, but I do love to watercolor!  I used to joke that the reason I started stamping is because I couldn't draw, but I could certainly color in someone else's artwork!  So I was particularly drawn to line-art stamps because I could make them whatever color I wanted!  The Friendly Hello SAB set has some pretty little line-art flowers, so I stamped them in Stazon ink on watercolor paper and went to work:

I am calling this a "mini" slimline card; it measures 6" x 2.75" and worked perfectly for the Atlantic Hearts sketch for this week:

You need to use Stazon ink when watercoloring, as it is an alcohol-based ink and the water and reinkers I use to color the flower in won't cause the black ink to bleed.  I used two patterns from the Friendly Hello DSP, cut some squares and black scalloped mats, then added the watercolored and fussy-cut flowers and leaves:

I added a sentiment from the Flowering Rainboots set, and some rhinestones I colored with a black Sharpie marker:

I didn't add a sentiment to the inside; I'll leave it blank and stamp it when the occasion arises that I need a card like this!

So, what's a favorite technique of yours? I hope you'll check out what the DT shared on the As You See It blog; maybe their technique is yours too!  Share yours with us--can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for visiting today!

Beautifully water-colored blooms, LeAnne! Gosh I love this peachy color, and the dsp you've matched perfectly and the crisp black!

Love this so much, Leanne! I swear I used to have aqua-painters attached to my hands at all times - still one of my favorite ways to color, but I've pretty much found new love with the Blends, too, lol. Some things just really need aqua-painters, though! Love this gorgeous design!

Love this LeAnne - my watercolouring tends to be very hit-and-miss so I'm taking tips! Those flowers are so pretty and I love the fresh colour combo of the peach, black and white too and the slimline design.

Your watercolouring is always wonderful LeAnne! I love the way you've been able to colour your fussy cut flowers in a more intense shade of the DSP background. Vicky x

What a beautiful card. I love the colors you have chosen--they really are so perfect. I am also a big fan of watercoloring and I love how sometimes the watercolor dictates what the image will look like. Thanks for joining us at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

I am calling you up when I need watercoloring done! I don't like to use stazon so I tend to heat emboss then watercolor. But after seeing this and reading up on your tips, I think I need to bust out the stazon! The colors are sweet soft and beautiful just like the card!

I love this palette, LeAnne, and the mini-slimline format, too! You do such a seamless job with your watercolour blending, you can't tell that it's not DSP! You ended up with a striking design!
