CTS324 and JAI459

Happy Friday, peeps!  Can you believe tomorrow is June already! If you haven't put in a last order from the catalog, you should do it soon!  Lots of stuff is on sale, too!

My card today was a wee bit of a challenge for me!  The sketch I chose was quite different,  but it's good to challenge oneself, don't you think?  It was from CAS(E) this Sketch and the colors from Just Add Ink:

I had NO idea how to interpret this sketch....I thought maybe stitched rectangles would be good, but I couldn't get the sizes to work.  I finally ended up with some hearts from the Be Mine dies, cut in the challenge colors and laid out like this:

The little striped stamp is from A Big Thank You, and the sentiment is from the new set Woven Heirlooms.  Each set of hearts had a little embellishment of some sort:

My little Take Your Pick tool got a big workout with these little diecuts!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Dana got an email that Cassidy had won an award (Cassidy never bothered to mention it, LOL!); it was only for her class, but knowing how much she likes to draw, we were thrilled:

We don't even know what the artwork looked like!!!  Maybe she'll bring it home at the end of the year!

IB74 Spring Laundry

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Time for another Inspired By challenge, and I hope you'll play along!  Here's my take on Laurel's photo prompt:

And here's the inspiration!  I just love the way my laundry smells after hanging it out in the sunshine!  We've had lots of laundry-drying days here, too!

I began by diecuttting some flowers and gingham centers with a sunflower die from Simon Says Stamp and since I didn't really have an idea in my head yet for my card, left them on my desk overnight.  When the FMS sketch came out, I knew I could incorporate one of the flowers into the sketch:

I added the sunflower to a stitched circle of Daffodil Delight, added some banners and mounted it on a card base that was embossed with the Quilt Top EF.  Before adhering the flower center, I stamped a sentiment from Free as a Bird directly on to the gingham:

My left vertical Soft Seafoam panel was diecut with a border die, and I tucked a new diecut from the Arts and Crafts die in beside it; here's a closer view:

I love how springy this is!  Pop on over to the IB blog to see what the others have created...then share yours with us as well!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TSOT410 Sympathy in Green

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Boy, it feels like Monday, doesn't it?  Our Memorial Day weather was STUNNING!!  Good thing because it's already rained today, with more to come! My hearts go out to the folks in Oklahoma and Ohio, and any other area suffering several weather damage....it is just heart-breaking to see the news reports.  Praying they get better weather and lots of help!

Of course, it seems like when I need one sympathy card, I end up needing three!  I made two more cards today (just showing one) using some more pretty Garden Lane DSP, a new up-coming set called Woven Heirlooms and the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday:

So here we go:

It's basically just layers and a wee bit of stamping; I stamped the sentiment in Garden Green and the little flourish below in Soft Seafoam.  The Textile Ribbon is Mint Macaron, and I love how it is so soft and easy to tie into a bow:

Lots of errands to run today, so that's it for now!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS389 Hugs

Happy Monday peeps!  I know it is Memorial Day, and I read somewhere that it's not a "happy" holiday---it should be a somber one, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  So I will just say that I hope you take time today to pay tribute to those who fought for our freedom.  We will be watching another parade today; this time Cassidy will be in it, representing her karate club!

I almost missed posting this card, with the busy weekend we had, so I am getting this in close to the deadline!  The Freshly Made Sketches sketch by Narelle was a nice one, and I needed a quick card for a customer, so I went to this month's beautiful Paper Pumpkin kit and did a little custom tweaking!  Here's the sketch:

And here's my little notecard:

I used sentiments from the PP kit, stamping the "Hugs" in Old Olive and the "dear friend" in Craft white and heat embossing it in white as well, then diecutting it with a Stitched Rectangle die.  I added some Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon as well as some vellum leaves from the In The Woods dies.  I brushed them with some Wink of Stella for extra sheen and added some Blend-colored pearls as well:

For fun, I stamped a feather from the PP set on the back of the envelope too!  This is such a pretty kit, I love it!

That's it for today!  I promised you another picture from the parade on Saturday; I know it's Memorial Day, not Veteran's Day, but this was too poignant not to post:

Be blessed, my friends!

PP443 Hello Birdie

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I am the hostess over at the Paper Players today, and I have a sketch for you:

I wanted to play with some of the pretty papers from the upcoming Garden Lane collection, so I paired it (again) with Free as a Bird; here we go:

After finishing my card, I think I might just have too many greens going on here, LOL!  I wanted to incorporate all the hues from the DSP, but it might just be too much....better luck next time!  Anyway, I stamped my bird and leaves in Mint Macaron and Garden Green, then used MM, Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green to lightly color them with an aquapainter; they were all fussy-cut and the bird was mounted on circular diecuts from Stitched Labels and Layering Circles dies:

The sentiment was diecut with the new Stitched Nested Labels dies:

And I embellished the left side with some dies from the Arts and Crafts set; I just love that ruffle, don't you?

After adding leaves to the front of the card, I had some leftovers, so I added them to the inside as well:

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...be sure to share it with us at the Players blog!  You can check out what all the DT did with it while you're there!  Thanks for popping by today!

Thank you, also, to all the kind bloggers who thanked John for his service and for participating in our little Memorial Day parade yesterday.  The weather was overcast and a bit chilly, but at least no one fainted from the heat (which has been known to happen)!!  I ran a little late, so I didn't get a chance to take a photo of us together.  Anyway, here are a few:

It's always hard to get a good one while they're marching!!

The Little League team was all decked out in red, white and blue:

The West Grove and Avondale Fire Companies keep their trucks sparkling!!

Although I grew up on Fords, you can't help but love a beautiful Corvette like this!

Our friend Bob on his tractor!

I loved this guy's shirt....it was decorated with trucks AND flags!!

I have a couple more I'll share tomorrow!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PCC338 Remembering Jerry

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Today is our town's annual Memorial Day parade, and John will be marching in it once again!  Blessedly, the weather is beautiful, although we'll probably be HOT by the time it's over!  I won't complain, though, I promise!

We lost a dear family friend earlier this week; he had developed dementia and his body just gradually forgot what it was supposed to do.  His wife was a classmate of my dad's, so I always enjoyed talking to her as she is one of the sweetest ladies I know. She was really heartbroken when my dad passed away; they were class reunion buddies!   It's been a rough few months for all of us.  Jerry served in the Navy and the Air Force, so I wanted a sympathy card to honor him for his service as well as offer condolences.  Artistic Outpost's Hero set came to mind, so here we go:

I used this sketch from Paper Craft Crew:

I stamped the "hero" image in Night of Navy on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then added a layer from Authentique's Original collection which featured a white and navy weathered look.  I embossed another plain layer of the same collection with the Star embossing folder, added a red and white striped ribbon and a Real Red punched star:

I managed to get the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped on the little tab at the top of the paper, then used a narrow banner die to cut it out:

I did add some silver thread behind the image, but since it was a masculine-themed card, I didn't want to go too overboard with embellishments!!  I am also adding this to the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week:

Thanks for popping in today--be sure to stop back tomorrow when I will be the Paper Players hostess!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

My little helper!

AYSI201 Mosaic Sketch

Happy Friday, peeps!  It's time for another As You See It challenge, and it's sketch time!  Here's our awesome layout:

No photo description available.

I have been itching to play with some more of my new goodies from the upcoming catalog but really haven't quite gotten my mojo in gear lately. Hopefully over the holiday weekend, it will kick in, LOL!  I have been cleaning and purging my craft room, so that's where my energy is going!  But here we go!

These new mosaic-style papers, Mosaic Mood, are just beautiful...they have shiny accents on some of the papers that really add a lovely touch!  The middle section of the vertical piece has a pretty sheen to it, as does the hummingbird, which was fussy-cut from one of the papers:

I added a sentiment from the new Woven Heirlooms and accented it with a die-cut border of Terracotta Tile, using the Arts and Crafts dies....I love these things! I also added some new Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon...gorgeous!  The finishing touch was a little In Color Faceted Dot.

I can't wait to play with some of the other beautiful patterns in this DSP!  Now, what will you create with our sketch...I might just do a couple more with this one, I like it so much!  Be sure to share yours with us at the As You See It blog!!

Cassidy's discovered she likes being on Grampy's tractor and can't wait until she can drive it herself....that will be a long way off!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
