LIM459 One Layer One Word

Happy Monday, peeps! Wow, the last day of February!  Hope you had a good weekend. Thinking of and praying for all the souls in the Ukraine, such an unspeakable tragedy.  I pray it is all over soon! I did get some stamping time yesterday and wanted to try (again) no-line watercoloring.  Mine never turn out quite as well as the videos that I watch, but I gave it a try again.  Since I used only one layer and and one word, I am entering it at the Less Is More challenge as well:

So here we go:

I always use one of two papers for my watercoloring: watercolor paper or Shimmery White.  Since I wanted to make a full card, I chose to use Shimmery White.  The colors move around nicely on it since it has a kind of coating that makes the shimmer, but also helps the water and ink not to soak in too quickly.  I stamped the image from Friendly Hello in Sahara Sand ink and then used an aquapainter to color everything in.  I went a little too strong on my flowers, I would have preferred to have them lighter, but I guess it's a learning curve!  I chose to make the bird a wee little house finch; they have been very active at my feeders and although the colors aren't perfect, they're close enough!

I added a Soft Sueded sentiment from Biggest Wish and you might be able to see some itty bitty speckles stamped in Soft Seafoam around the bird.  Perhaps if I had watercolored a bit of background it would have looked better.  I'll keep practicing!  Thanks for popping in today!

I showed you last week the pictures of non-happy Eden, sad that she was banished from the new couch and forced to sleep in her new bed.  Here's HER new bed on the left, and GINGER'S new bed on the right:

Yep, she refuses to sleep in her bed and wants to sleep in Ginger's. Heaven knows where Ginger is! Don't you wish you could know what was in their minds?  Pets are so funny!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP580 Sailing Wishes

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Anne Marie has a wonderful sketch for us this week! So many fun layers, I really enjoyed this one, as I usually do!  Here we go:

Continuing in a masculine theme, since my guy cards are few, I pulled out some DSPs in Misty Moonlight, an image from Sailing Home and some fun dies and went to work:

My papers are from Heart and Home and the retired Harvest Meadow.  I added two little diecut borders to the Harvest Meadow piece, then heat-embossed the sentiment in white on a Stitched Labels diecut.  The sailboat was accented with a piece of diecut "rope" from the Smooth Sailing dies, and of course, I had to stamp some seagulls!

I really like how this came out and I can't wait to use this sketch again!  Although I used a lot of retired dies on this one, you can use any shape or image!  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see how the other designers interpreted it, then share your creation with us too!  Thanks for visiting today!

Saturday Double

Hi stampers!  I had some stamping time yesterday and have two cards to share.  One is for the Inkspire Me sketch challenge, the other for FMS:

So let's do the Inkspire Me one first:

I did some stenciling with a Blending Brush and the Butterflies & Flowers Stencil (mask) in Flirty Flamingo ink on the bottom corner of my mat, then added a scalloped trim:

I had a scrap of Sweet Symmetry laying on my desk; I always get Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral confused; obviously, this piece uses Calypso Coral, as my colors don't exactly match, but hopefully the recipient won't mind!  I embellished it with a Pierced Blooms flower and leaves, and added a Bitty Banner with a sentiment from Special Moments...what a great SAB set!

The second card is a masculine one featuring the cabin from Reflected in Nature.  I am embarassed to admit that I've had this set since the beginning of the catalog and don't think I've used it yet!  I stamped it on Crumb Cake with Shaded Spruce ink, then cut it down to a smaller size, adding an Evening Evergreen mat:

It went on a card front embossed with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder, and for the little corner embellishments, I diecut some branches from the In The Woods die, cut them in half and layered them under the image.  Again, the sentiment is from Special Moments:

Thanks for popping in today!

Yesterday we had freezing rain in the morning, turning everything into an icy landscape, and I couldn't help but take some photos around the yard!  The poor birds would be sorely tried to get under these icicles:

Each leaf and stem of my butterfly bush was coated in ice; the patterns they made were amazing!

By lunchtime the temps were up and everything was dripping!  But it was cool while it lasted!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI269 Thinking of You

Happy Friday, everyone!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and we have a recipe for you this week!  Check it out:

Oh my goodness so many choices to make some sweet, fun cards!  Here's my take on it:

I'm trying to use up some of the cute DSP I have....can anyone else relate?  My base paper is from Close to My Heart, a gift from my sweet friend Sheila, and I embossed it with the Dotty Hearts embossing folder..what a fun technique!  The little circles are from Authentique's Meadow line, and I added a  birdhouse from Technique Tuesday, stamped on the same DSP in Misty Moonlight, then fussy-cut.  My final addition was a Tailor Made Tag, stamped with a sentiment from Special Moments and embellished with some embroidery floss!

I used the sketch from Fusion (and I did add in one wee little bird!):

I sure hope you'll concoct something delicious with our As You See It recipe this week!  Be sure to share it with us and check out what the design team came up with as well!  See you there!

TTTC150 Someone Wonderful

Hi everyone!  Happy Thursday to you all!  It's time for Team X to share their Tic-Tac-Toe grid with you!  Here we go:

May be an image of text that says 'Tic Challenge Tac Toe No: 150 #tttc150 Pastel Colours Designer Paper Die Cut Punch Watercolour Spring Flowers Bird Bold Sentiment Ribbon Twine Stencil tictactoechallenge.'

I chose the top row of pastels, designer paper and diecuts! I knew just what DSP I wanted to use, too!  Check it out:

These Hand-Penned papers are beautiful for spring!  I saw a sweet card that I couldn't wait to re-create made by Kim S (you can see it here) and so I diecut some stitched strips using some of the pretty papers, added a sentiment from Special Moments, and a flower from Hand-Penned Petals:

This was really simple to make, and a great way to use up some scraps of DSP!  I hope you'll find something on our Tic Tac Toe grid to play with this week!  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Easy Peasy CASC&S458

Hi peeps!  Happy Wednesday! I have a real quick card using some fun papers from Carta Bella and the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches:

These papers are really cute but they're busy and sometimes I don't know how to use them!  But I isolated a few of the images and diecut them with a stitched square die, then added a simple sentiment from Special Moments, stamped in Poppy Parade.  So here we go:

I added a little diecut Poppy Parade heart because I just love that color!

And since I had another little strip from the page left, I adhered it to the inside bottom of the card:

This is all ready to be sent to a friend who needs a little uplifting!  Thanks for visiting today!

Pretty impressive...I would be clueless!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHC461 Happy Easter

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I have a card to share that should have taken no time at all to make, but my original plan didn't quite pan out, so back to the drawing board I went!  It uses the sketch from Atlantic Hearts:

and some cute papers from Nina Stajner called Little Fawn and Friends.  So here we go:

Still struggling with getting my photos to brighten but hopefully you'll get the idea!  I originally planned to stamp a bunny and use it as my focal point but it just wasn't working, and those cute bunnies on the paper itself seemed to be appropriate just as they were!  So I diecut them with a stitched circle die, added a Baked Brown Sugar scalloped mat, then added some coordinating Petal Pink DSP and a little strip of Mossy Meadow embossed with a die from Ellen Hutson:

I added a little sentiment from the retired Teeny Tiny Wishes, used a banner die to cut it out, and then added some enamel dots to complement!

And a sentiment from Easter Friends was stamped on the inside:

Thanks for popping in today!

Dana and Wayne are getting new furniture, so they got new beds for Ginger and Eden so they won't be tempted to jump on the new stuff!  Ginger was thrilled:

Eden, not so much:

LOL, she probably thinks she's being punished!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CH35 Stenciled Florals

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend!  My friend Michele inspired me to try the Color Hues challenge this week:

Michele is a whiz at making stupendous floral cards, so I can't even begin to compete with hers.  But I did give it a go with SU's new stencils (ie: masks), and I really liked how this came out:

I am still struggling to get my photos to the way I like them--hopefully by Thursday I will have my own computer back---but I am hoping you can get the picture, LOL!  I stenciled the lighter layer in Blushing Bride, then added Polished Pink on top.  I used Misty Moonlight as my "navy", stenciling the leaves in that shade:

I added some pink speckles and a sentiment from Flowering Rain Boots.  And while I had my blending brushes handy, I added another little flower on the inside of my Misty Moonlight card:

I must tell you that the samples in the Color Hues gallery are stunning!  So creative!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP579 CAS Christmas Foxes

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge!  Ann is our hostess this week with a Clean and Simple challenge!  Be sure to check the guidelines for what "clean and simple" means!  Her theme is "Wild about Wildlife":

I remembered a sweet little Unity stamp I had featuring two little foxes, so I pulled out some Very Vanilla cardstock, Cajun Craze ink and I went to work:

After stamping the images and the sentiment, I ran the cardstock through the Big Shot with the Stitched with Whimsy die and then mounted it on a Cajun Craze card base.

I stamped a sentiment on another Very Vanilla piece of cardstock and also embossed it with the Stitched with Whimsy die:

The only other embellishment is a wee bit of glitter and it was done!  Clean, simple and easy!  I hope that you'll be able to play with our Paper Players challenge this week...can't wait to see your clean and simple creations!  Thanks for visiting today!

John and I did some road tripping around Lancaster County on Saturday and stopped at a little restaurant where bacon is a big deal!  John ordered a BLT made with a half pound of bacon:

It was enormous...and he ate it all!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze
