AHSC694 Patriotic Flag-Inspired

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I recently got a patriotic garden flag to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA:

I decided to use it as inspiration for my card.  Here we go:

I diecut some flowers from Pierced Blooms, then watercolored them with Cherry Cobbler ink.  I layered on a Misty Moonlight center and diecut some stars from Give It A Whirl.  It all on went on a Basic Beige panel and some Honey Bee patriotic papers:

I left the inside blank and will add a sentiment when I need one!

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!  Be sure to check out all the DT samples on Wednesday at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch blog!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC693 Happy Sunflower Birthday

Hello, stampers! Time for  a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I just got some new goodies from the upcoming catalog and I just had to get them out to play!  Here's a peek of the new Sunflower Fields DSP:

The retired Stitched Triangle dies made this card quick work!  Even the little Crushed Curry banners were cut from dies from that set!  I combined a diecut sentiment from Spellbinders with a retired stamp set called Everyday Greetings, then added some new Painted Patch dots:

I can't wait to play some more with these papers!  And speaking of sunflowers, here's a view of an Amish field on my way to church:

So happy and cheerful!  I hope you'll play with our fun sketch this week! In fact, I think I might make a couple more using this sketch!

A few more birthday cards:

This beauty is from my sweet friend Debbie; she knows I like Crisp Cantaloupe!!!

This cutie is from my PP teammate Claire; adorable!

My friend Shawn is as bright and cheerful as this card she made for me:

And this fun little creation is from my PP teammate Jaydee:

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day, and be blessed!

AHSC692 Brighten up My Day

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch:

I had an idea in my head which didn't quite turn out the way I'd hoped, but after spending time and energy on it, I just went with it!  Here we go:

After creating some layers with Perfect Pine, Bubble Bath and some florals from Craft Consortium's Bloom & Wild, I heat-embossed some butterflies from Sketched Butterflies on vellum, then colored them on the back with a Blend.  I did add a pink pearl for an embellishment.  Here's a better close-up so you can see the embossing:

Here's the inside:

I hope you'll find some inspiration from our sketch and play along with us this week! You can find all the details on our Atlantic Hearts Sketch blog!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC691 From Us

Happy Monday, all! Hope you had a great weekend!  Our Atlantic Hearts sketch this week is a fabulous one---such a great sketch to use up some scraps!  Here we go:

I needed a masculine birthday card, so I pulled out some scraps of Autumn Toile and Let's Go Fishing and came up with this:

I diecut some Early Espresso postage cuts, then simply adhered the DSP on top.  It all went on a panel of the new Wood Grain Wonders DSP, and I added a Waffle Flower sentiment.  The postage cuts are also from Waffle Flower:

A sentiment from the Greetery went on the inside!

This is such a fabulous sketch--you could use it with so many images or designs! I hope you'll play along with us this week! You can see all the details at Atlantic Hearts Sketch!

AHSC690 A Beautiful Day

Happy Monday, all!  Well, my company has all gone home and things are back to semi-normal!  We did have a lovely week, though!  Eating, thrift shopping, boating....lots of fun things!  I was able to get back into my stamp room for this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I varied my card a wee bit from the sketch as I had a die that cuts out circles instead of squares, so I opted to use that!  Here we go:

My Close to My Heart die was used on SU's new Wood Grain Wonder DSP.  I then punched 1" circles from Honey Bee's Vitamin Sea papers in various prints and fit them inside the openings.  A shell and sentiment from Beautiful Beach were added as the focal points:

I added some sequins from my stash along with some braided trim:

You can be so creative with this sketch---there are endless possibilities! I hope you'll play along with us this week at Atlantic Hearts!

My sister is a great thrifter--she's sort of a "picker" for some friends who have antique booths, so she is always on the lookout for some thrifty finds!  Her hubby Russ was in charge of some of the items too large to fit in her basket at one shop:

And after a busy morning of thrifting, we had to stop to eat at a very tiny little restaurant that had amazing food:

John's burger looked delicious--I had to sneak some fries!

The burger Russ ordered was quite a handful!:

We didn't get any boat pictures, but that was a great day too!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC689 Home Sweet Home

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a wonderful July 4th weekend!  It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch, here we go:

I rarely make slimline cards, so this was a bit of a challenge! However, I had just gotten the retiring Hobby Haven DSP, along with their scrapping elements, so I embraced them and went to work:

Sorry the photo is not too good!  Anyway, my card is 3 1/2" x 8", so it will fit in a business envelope.  I embossed two panels and matched them together to create one long panel using Penny Black's Dots & Dashes embossing folder for my mat.  I then diecut four different DSP patterns using the Perennial Postage dies and layered them on top.  Finally, I added the scrapbooking elements, all featuring things from home:

My sentiment was a combination of two sets, one from Unity and one from Colorado Craft, stamped in Pecan Pie ink and just cut into sections.  Finally, I added some sequins from my stash.  I left the inside blank, and I'll put a sentiment when I decide the occasion!  I just love these fun little images!

I hope you'll be inspired to try a slimline card--it does give one a wee bit more room to play, and although I usually like things in threes, having four panels to decorate is fun as well!  Check out what the DT created at Atlantic Hearts on Wednesday, but you can play along right now!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC688 Happy 4th of July

Happy Monday, peeps!  The 4th of July is coming up, so I thought I'd use this week's Atlantic Hearts sketch to make a patriotic card!  Here's the sketch:

My base is Basic Beige, and the background stamp from Honey Bee was stamped in Night of Navy:

The Every Day Arches panel was stamped with fireworks in Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler, all from Waltzingmouse Stamps, as is the sentiment.  The stars are dies from Paper Rose, and the horizontal strip was diecut with a star strip from the retired Mini Treat Bag dies, backed with white glimmer paper.  I diecut more stars and sprinkled them among the fireworks:

I added some rhinestones for sparkle too!  The inside was a stamp from Technique Tuesday, and I added a few stars there too!

I know this is a bit unusual for the sketch, but what a sketch is for....a starting place! I hope you'll play along too!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC687 Happy Father's Day

Happy Monday, everyone! It's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge time!  Here's our newest sketch:

I needed a Father's Day card for Wayne, so I pulled out my Trusty Tools bundle along with some scraps of the Trusty Tool Box DSP:

It's all pretty straight-forward; stamps were stamped in Versafine Black and either stamped with the two-step stamp or colored with a marker.  The wrench was diecut in some retired Brushed Silver cardsotck, and the Smoky Slate mat was embossed with a really old Diamond Plate embossing folder!

I added a few metallic embellishments, then added a sentiment on the inside from Best Family Ever:

Since I didn't like the "my" in the sentiment, I crossed it out and added "our" in Lost Lagoon marker!  John couldn't figure out quite how I did it, it matched so well, LOL!

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!  The DT has made some lovely samples---you can see the post live on Wednesday at Atlantic Hearts!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC686 Best Wishes

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I'm a little late posting my Atlantic Hearts Sketch card this week---just took a little break, I guess!  Anyway, here's the sketch:

I admit this sketch had me stumped for a bit, but when I decided to make my card larger than a standard-sized card, I had a better result!  So here's my 5" x 6" card:

I stamped the Layers of Beauty in Versafine Black ink, then used the stencil to add Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Azure Afternoon and Soft Sea Foam inks.  I cut the design apart and layered them on a panel of Azure Afternoon that had been embossed with the retired Quilt Top embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Pinkfresh's Scripted Bold Sentiments 1, also stamped in Azure Afternoon ink.

I added some loops of gold thread as well as some gold pearls to finish it off.  I had to make a custom envelope as well, but I forgot to photograph that!  I hope you'll play along with our pretty sketch and make use of some of those bold sentiments you might have in your stash!  Share it with us at Atlantic Hearts!

I haven't shared any pictures of Cassidy lately, as she's busy with school and basketball.  She played in an AAU league this spring and after a bit of a rough start, her team won all three games this past weekend for their championship.  It was a long-awaited, well-earned win, too!

To say we were all happy was an understatement!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
