AYSI366 Peppermint Wishes

Happy Friday, all!  It's time for a new As You See It challenge, and we have a theme:

Yummy!  Look at all those goodies! I got a sweet little peppermint candy die just after Christmas, so this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to put it to use:

My candies are made with Basic White, Real Red, Strawberry Slush and Granny Apple Green.  The peppermint sentiment is from More Than Autumn, and the diecut sentiments are from the Words for the Season dies.  All went on a gingham background from Scrapbook.com, diecut with the Perennial Postage die.  I added a Stitched With Whimsy doodle around the edges as well as some Peppermint candy embellishments!

I added a Colorado Craft sentiment on the inside:

In the stamping world, it's never too early to start making Christmas cards!  And since the Krafty Chicks are asking for Christmas cards this week, I am entering it there as well!

What will inspire you from this fun challenge?! Hope to see your sweet confection over at the As You See It blog!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS723 Hippity Hoppity

Happy Thursday, peeps!  A quick little card today--moving on to Easter!  FMS has a sweet sketch this week:

I just broke open my Easter Joy specialty paper and there are so many cute patterns in there! One that really caught my eye was a monochromatic pattern in Shy Shamrock, which is a color I haven't used very much!  I paired it with an old Easter set called Basket Bunch! So here we go:

Mr Bunny was stamped in Shy Shamrock, as well as the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.  He his hopping against a cloud-embossed sky with his little Easter eggs:

Another sentiment from the same set went on the inside--love that simple font!

Thanks for "hopping" in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Retro Rubber 265 Hey, Cowboy

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Middle of the week, it's all downhill from here! I needed a birthday card for a little boy at church, and the Retro Rubber challenge was a tic-tac-toe grid:

I'll let you read their post to see why there are pumpkins on the grid, LOL!  Needless to say, I didn't choose that option, but went with the Kraft Paper/My Choice and Embossing across the middle. I pulled out some real oldies for this one!  Here we go:

This card looks MUCH better in real life than it does here....just sayin', it doesn't photograph very well!  I used the cowboy image from Out West (2010) and did some black heat embossing on Kraft cardstock.  After I heat embossed it, I did some watercoloring (my free choice) and fussy-cut it out, mounting it on a Kraft square that was also embossed with a retired Wrapped in Texture embossing folder.  You can see the embossing better here:

My "hey" and Rootin' Tootin' are from the retired Yee-Haw set (2014) and I confess, I forgot that the other sentiment is still current!  Oops!  The horseshoe and hat are also from Out West, and the stars are from Yee-Haw as well, all stamped in Crumb Cake:

The patterned paper on the front is from an older Cosmo Cricket pad called Wanted.  It was fun to use these older sets!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC668 LOVE

Happy Monday, everyone! Still in the deep freeze here in SE PA, our church lost power yesterday so we had to stay in!!  Hopefully this week we will get some above-freezing temperatures!

The Atlantic Hearts sketch this week is one of my favorites:

My proportions are a wee bit different, but basically the same idea!  Here we go:

I had lots of scraps from the Made With Love DSP papers, and if you have a 1 1/4" square punch, you can whip up this sketch in a flash!  I mounted all the squares on a 4 x 5 1/4" mat, then added a 2 1/2" Square of Pretty in Pink on which to place my diecut hearts and "Love" sentiment!  Then it all went on a Real Red card base:

The pink panel was embossed with the new Lovely Stripes EF (be careful--it embosses DEEPLY and your paper might actually tear!) and added a heart from the retired Be Mine dies.  The love is from Simon Says Stamp, diecut in retired Sweet Sorbet.  The final embellishment was a red glitter heart.  On the inside, I used some sentiments from an old set called PS: I Love You:

I have almost all my Valentines addressed and ready to go...maybe I'll save this one for someone extra-special, LOL!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch today!  We can't wait to see what you create--share it with us at Atlantic Hearts!

PP772 Color Challenge from Ann

Hello everyone!  Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Ann has given us some colors of spring to chase away those winter doldrums:

Believe it or not, I don't have a lot of floral images and that's what these colors brought to mind.  I decided on this image from Rustic Centerpiece, which was an Online Exclusive and sadly, seems to be retired:

This was pretty simple to create; the image was stamped in Black Stazon, then watercolored with an aquapainter and the challenge color inks:

The sentiment from Unbounded Love was stamped in Lost Lagoon and embellished with some pearls, then the whole panel went on a Lost Lagoon card base. I left the inside blank so I can use it for whatever occasion arises!

I hope you'll find some inspiration over at the Paper Players blog by seeing what the designers created, then putting these colors on a project of your own!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Iconic Images Love You

Happy Friday, peeps!  Hope you have some fun weekend plans--maybe besides the Super Bowl?  I only care about the commercials, LOL!  Anyway, I have another non-traditional Valentine card for you today; it uses the FMS sketch as well as the colors from CAS Colours & Sketches:

Fun choices, right?  So here we go:

I embossed a strip of Pool Party and Soft Sea Foam and added a strip of Pretty Peacock diecut with the Ornate Layers dies.  I realized that last year's Iconic Images had some hearts and words that could be used for Valentine's, so I diecut a heart and added my sentiment and diecut two-step hearts:

I added some rhinestones for a little bling!  CAS and easy!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

RR264 Just a Note

Hello, peeps!  Happy Thursday! I almost missed the Retro Rubber sketch this week...I do love playing with my older stamps!  I made a sweet, simple note card using the Wishing You Well set, which came out in 2018!  Here's their sketch:

I found some cute paper that matched SU's Cloud Cover nicely, so that was my inspiration! Here we go:

I stamped the wreath in Cloud Cover ink and added a sentiment from the same set; I punched out a couple of glimmer paper hearts to make a simple accent:

It's almost like a Valentine that's not a Valentine!  I added a layer of embossed polka dots behind it all...simple and sweet!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Warm Wishes

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I finally got around to making a card with some scraps that had been loitering on my desk since Christmas!  Dana had some really cute wrapping paper and she saved some scraps for me and this little snowman was begging to be put on a Christmas card:

I had the DSP on my desk as well, but the trees were white, and they looked a little stark with my Basic Beige card base, so I brayered on some Crumb Cake ink to give it more of a vintage look.  I embossed a panel with a snowflake embossing folder, then added Mr Snowman with some snowflakes and a sentiment from the retired Winter Wishes:

You can't see it, but the snowflakes have some pretty Wink of Stella on them to make them glitter!  A sentiment from the retired Peaceful Season went on the inside:

I thought this would be appropriate for the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge for February:

Naturally, I chose that sweet little snowman as my inspiration!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC667 Bold Birthday

Happy Tuesday, peeps! Still chilly in our neck of the woods, staying inside and staying warm!  The sketch for the Atlantic Hearts challenge is a great one this week, I love it:

I need a lot of birthday cards this month, and my stash is low, so this was a great way to get them started!  I used some outdoor-themed papers from Simple Stories called Trail Mix and a big, bold sentiment from a retired SU set:

I love this plaid, and the camping badge paper seemed great for a guy who likes the outdoors!  I stamped the sentiment in Pool Party and Pretty Peacock and added some Natural Trim for a little interest:

It all went on a Wild Wheat card base---definitely not my favorite color, but I have almost a full pack of it, so it's good to put it to use, LOL!

Thanks for popping in today!  We sure hope you'll play along with our fun sketch this week at Atlantic Hearts.  I may even use this again for some of my Valentine cards!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP771 Love Is In The Air

Happy Sunday, peeps! And happy February!   Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week with a fun appropriate challenge for the month of February:

I just had a Valentine's class yesterday, so I decided to take one of our projects and share it as my feature for this week!  Here we go:

I started with a card base of Petunia Pop.  The image is from an older SU stamp set called Festive Four; the envelope of hearts was stamped in Versafine ink, then colored in with inks and Blender Pens:

I added a scalloped layer of Fresh Freesia and some matching ribbon; it all went on an embossed layer of Basic White.  The Valentine sentiment is from Papertrey, and a little Bubble Bath Shimmer heart was added for fun.  The sentiment on the inside is from the retired Suite Sayings:

I hope you'll get some inspiration from all the samples over at the Paper Players blog!  We hope you'll play along with us as well!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI365 Celebrate in Red

Happy Friday, all!  Time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a recipe!  Here we go:

My first thought was Valentine's, what with the shades of red, but in the end, I went with Christmas!!  Here we go:

I combined a lot of retired products for this card; some Cherry Cobbler DSP; a pine tree diecut; a Cherry Cobbler glimmer "celebrate" and some scalloped die-cut vellum.  And who doesn't love a couple of cardinals?:

I used an adhesive sheet behind the "celebrate" diecut to make it adhere more easily!

The inside features a sentiment from Christmas labels, and I added another little cardinal for fun:

I hope that you'll mix all these ingredients together and create something wonderful as well!  We can't wait to see what that is! Share it with us at As You See It!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS721 Shabby Valentine

Happy Thursday, peeps!  I have a sweet little Valentine card for you today; it's for the FMS sketch by Jen as well as the neutral challenge from Little Red Wagon:

I went through my plethora of 6x6 pads to find some vintage prints to start my card; the ones I found were from Prima called Farm Sweet Farm.  I cut some to fit a 4 1/4" square card and went to work:

I diecut a heart from Basic Beige cardstock and stamped some postage stamp images from an old Papertrey set in Pecan Pie ink.  I added a Champagne foil heart and some pearl embellishments as well as a Technique Tuesday sentiment, stamped in Basic Gray ink.  I added a Crumb Cake scalloped heart behind it and gave everything a good vintage burnish with my sponge dauber and some Crumb Cake ink:

A sentiment from an old Paper Pumpkin set went on the front, and finally, some neutral rickrack trim for fun!  I haven't made a collage-style image for a long time, and it was fun to do!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

JUGS807 Love U Sew Much

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Midweek is upon us!  I got a set of stencils before Christmas and I finally had a change to break them out, just in time for the latest JUGS challenge, which is stencils!

Since cross-stitching is right up there with stamping on my list of favorite hobbies, I couldn't resist getting this stencil from Spellbinders, and I matched them up with some sewing-related stamps I've had in my stash forEVER!  Here we go:

I am still learning about stenciling---what type of ink pads work better than others; what kind of blending tools to use, how much pressure is needed---it's definitely a learning experience.  For this card I used Pretty in Pink, Poppy Parade, Berry Burst, Basic Gray and Crushed Curry for my floss.  I stamped and diecut two hearts from Simon Says Stamp in Pretty in Pink and Strawberry Slush, then stamped a "hi" from Paper Smooches; that's where the button is from as well:

On the inside, some more images and a sentiment from the Paper Smooches set.  I thought this would make a fun Valentine!

I have vowed to NOT start any more cross-stitch projects this year until I actually finish some of the ones I've stitched over the last couple of years.  Framing is quite expensive and I find I don't really need any more little pillows, but that is probably what I'll end up doing with them!  Stay tuned! Hopefully I'll actually finish one and share it with you!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
