RRCB182

Hello stampers!  Today is a new Retro Rubber challenge, where we show some love to our older stamps!  Here's our theme prompt for this week:

Aren't those blooms pretty?  I don't have many tulip images, but I did have these big Tim Holtz flowers so I thought they'd fit the bill:

I stamped them on Shimmery White cardstock in Stazon Black ink, masking a few of them to give them depth.  I then loosely watercolored them with shades of pink and red.  To get the brick-looking background, I lightly inked up the inside of a brick embossing folder and pressed it gently on the cardstock.

Finally, I stamped the "hello" from a retired SAB set, fussy-cut it out and mounted it on a stitched banner.  Some matching sequins added some sparkle, and it all went on a Polished Pink card base.

I am also going to enter this at Just Us Girls, since their challenge this week is flowers!

This card is already out in the mail to a special recipient!  I hope you'll play along with us, and share your spring (or any season) flowers!  Just make sure your stamps are at least a year old and tell us the approximate age!  Splitcoaststampers is a great place to find the age of those older stamps!  Be sure to hop over to the Retro Rubber blog to see ALL the great floral creations made by the DT and share yours too!  Thanks for popping in today.  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FF107 and CTS212 Project Life Cards

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have had a couple of busy days and the blog got a bit neglected!  So I have two cards today; I liked the Fab Friday sketch 107:

but I didn't want to use a doily for the semi-circle....then I remembered that I have a couple of boxes of Project Life products that needed some love!!!  This floral image came from the Hello Lovely kit:

I mounted it on a Soft Sky card on which I embossed the lower half with the Seaside embossing folder.  I found that the embossing made my card a wee bit "wobbly" so I added a layer of thick white cardstock on the backside and it worked wonderfully!  The sentiment is from Watercolor Wishes, stamped on a retired SAB designer paper.  I added some stamped florals from Timeless Textures, SAB ribbon and a few gold sequins to complement the gold foil mat!

While I had my Project Life cards out, I made another card using the CTS sketch:

I must have been in a Soft Sky mood!  I stamped a few flowers from Endless Thanks directly onto the polka-dotted PL card, then stamped the sentiment and stripey element in Soft Sky and Smoky Slate:

It's not at all what I first envisioned when I saw this sketch, but it's certainly unique, LOL!  It sort of reminds me of pebbles!  Anyway, thanks for popping in, and be sure to stop back tomorrow for the next Paper Players challenge!

We have had some crazy weather lately....February brought temps in the 70s, and yesterday, we had snow!  Wet, damp, heavy snow....so we made a snowman:

Pretty stylish, right?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Paper Players 288 Birthday Boy

Happy Easter, or Resurrection Day, as we like to call it!  I hope whatever you celebrate, you have a blessed time with family and friends today!  It's my turn to host the Paper Players today and I have a little sketch for you:

Because Sale-a-bration is almost over, I wanted to use a SAB set, and I also wanted to create an ombre effect with the three panels, although that was not my original intent when I designed the sketch!  But I need masculine cards and I was neglecting my blues lately, so I went with Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon (which will be retiring soon as well--boo hoo!), and Soft Sky:

I adhered the three panels to a piece of scrap paper first, diecut them with the stitched border die (Lil'Inkers), then embossed them with the Chevron EF.  I also created an ombre effect...or maybe it's really striped, but you get my drift, with the party hat from Silhouettes & Script:

To get this effect, I inked up the entire stamp with Soft Sky, then inked it a wee bit down from the top with Lost Lagoon, and then finally, inked the bottom portion with Island Indigo.  If you go from light to dark, you don't need to worry about inking over top of a previously-inked area!  I love how it turned out!  I added a silver star with an enamel dot, although it's hard to tell that I used Silver Foil, but I promise I did!

Finally, I inked up "birthday boy" from the "Hello" SAB set and cut it out in a banner and backed it with a Silver Foil banner as well, and adhered it all together!

I stamped the birthday sentiment from Suite Sayings on the inside, and added another star with a candy dot just for fun!

I hope you'll play with my sketch this week too!  I think you could use up lots of little scraps and create something cute!  Check out what the AWESOME design team did with it too:

And of course, we did some egg-dying this weekend:

And Grammy had to do some experimenting with SU inks and Itty Bitty Bits on a plain white hardboiled egg!  It was tricky, a little smudge-prone, but fun!

Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 286 Hello

Happy Sunday, all!  Did you remember to adjust your clocks?  We did ours on Saturday afternoon, so we had plenty of time to adjust, LOL!  Now it's time for another Paper Players challenge, with our hostess Nance offering up a striking color palette:

Hmm, what to do, what to do?  Floral, geometric, masculine???  I went with an electic style, using the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

which you can see here:

I had a lot of fun making this card; I already had a little scrap of the Pretty Petals paper in Calypso Coral sitting on my desk, so I used that for the corner piece.  The next step was to figure out what to use for the other diagonal images, and I thought the lines from Chalk Lines would be good! I stamped the hearts in Bermuda Bay and the arrows in Basic Black, masking them to make the angle.  I added some doodads from Timeless Textures, some baker's twine and a few sequins (Verve) after stamping that big "hello" from the Hello set:

I took a chance and decided to punch out a little heart in the corner of the CC piece for a little added interest, and I am glad I did...I like the peek-a-boo effect!  Thanks for peeking in yourself today, and be sure to check out what the other designers did this week, and we hope you'll play along too:

Cassidy got thirty stickers on her sticker chore chart at home and Mommy treated her to a trip to Build-a-Bear!  She got a Paw Patrol dog named Chase (which is also the name of Daddy's dog!) and she had a lot of fun!  Isn't he sweet, peeking out of his little carrier?

Enjoy your day!

MTS110 For Brad's Birthday

Happy Monday, peeps!  Today is my nephew Bradley's 22nd birthday, so I thought I would use this fun sketch from Match The Sketch for his card:

I didn't get to use Thankful Forest Friends too much last season, and when I saw these fun papers from Authentique's Nestled Collection, I knew they would be a match:

Just check out those cute little faces on that paper:

I stamped the fox in Cajun Craze and cut him out and popped him up; the sentiment (past Paper Pumpkin kit) was stamped in Cajun Craze and Early Espresso, along with the little lines from SAB's Hello in Tip Top Taupe.  The card base is Tip Top Taupe also, and I stamped Hardwood in Sahara Sand on it for the background.  He likes to hunt and his family lives in a cabin in the woods, so hopefully he'll enjoy it!   And here's the inside:

Perfect for a 22YO!  I don't have a current photo of Brad (he has a full beard now), but here's one from a little while back with Dana at a family wedding:

And here he is, playing with Cassidy back before we built the garage:

He's a great guy and I hope he has a great birthday!

FMS221 Hello

Happy Saturday, all!  Just a very quick post, a CAS card for Freshly Made Sketches:

I desperately wanted to use this gorgeous Pool Party glimmery ribbon that's in the spring mini, and that big "hello" from the Hello set was perfect for the sentiment:

I love the combination of Pool Party and Basic Black...so that's what I used!  Ribbon & sequins, and it was done!  Easy peasy!

Cassidy decided to build a ski/shoveling machine with her Legos....all the snow must have prompted her engineering decision!

Enjoy your day!

RS198 Thanks

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I haven't played with the Retrosketches sketch for a long time, and I thought this one was fun...they all are, aren't they?  Arielle has such great ideas!

I am still playing with my new goodies--this time I used Suite Sayings (Occasions catalog) and Hello (Sale-a-bration) along with some cute papers from the Love Blossoms 6x6 stack.  So here we go:

I took a little liberality with the sketch but I wanted to use a couple of the patterns from the pad as well as two of the sentiments that, even though they are from different sets, complement each other very well!  The frame and stamping are in Early Espresso; I used some Calypso Coral twine, sequins, and a Blushing Bride glimmer heart.  I also did some random stamping with a couple of the elements from Timeless Textures:

I love this layout!

Cassidy has hairdressing on her mind; she got a Barbie beauty salon set for Christmas, so she is curling the hair of (naked) AJ:

And then decided to give him a haircut...no worries, the scissors don't cut!!!

Thank goodness!  Oh, and that's a coat lying on the floor behind...not a big bag of trash, LOL!

Enjoy your day and thanks for visiting today!
