PP483 Lookin' Sharp

Hi crafty friends!  It's Sunday, and time for another Paper Players challenge!  Claire is our hostess this week with a fine sketch for us:

My amazingly-creative, uber-generous, wonderful friend Michele gifted me with several of these little embossed cacti and sentiments recently, and I finally was able to incorporate a few of them into a sketch!  I dug around my multitude of 6x6 papers and found a fun pattern that was whimsical enough to complement these little cuties:

I used my Arteza waterrcolor pens to give them some color (and I obviously need to look a little more closely when doing it; I see some spots I missed!), and Michele very kindly diecut them for me too, so it was easy-peasy for me to layer them on a circular panel and add my sentiment!

My vertical pieces were some scraps from my pile; at the last minute, I decided to add some Old Olive strips that I embossed with an Ellen Hutson die....I just love that little extra touch, it adds so much interest!

And finally, to create the panel that crosses the vertical stripes, I added a little banner and some retired candy dots in complimentary colors!!!  I stamped a birthday sentiment on the inside, and it's all ready to go in the mail!

This was a fun sketch to use, and I know I'll be using it again! I hope you'll play with us as well!  Check out what Claire and the other DT members created at the Paper Players blog!  See you there!

Yesterday at church, we practiced socially distancing while we cleaned 70-some globes on our chandeliers.  The ceiling is 20 feet high, so it's quite a feat, requiring a very tall person on a very tall ladder perched on some platforms on top of the pews; this is John (who is NOT a very tall person), starting the process:

Then our friend Ken (who IS a tall person) finished up, handing John a box of globes; he takes them downstairs (our sanctuary is upstairs) where Judy and I washed and dried them, then sent them back upstairs:

All bright and shiny for whenever we are able to meet again!!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP482 CAS Spring Flowers

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope you are all faring well with the latest events going on in the nation!  Our schools are closing for two weeks...blessedly, Dana can work from home.  We are praying for everyone....at least we can still craft at home!

Today at the Paper Players, Joanne has a CAS challenge for us:

Thankfully I had already used the Case This Sketch sketch when I made my card, because I totally missed the CAS part of Joanne's challenge!!! So here we go:

I started with a card base of Whisper White, then added a little piece of Pleased as Punch DSP and a Basic Black strip embossed with the cross-stitch die from the Stitched Labels dies. I used the sweet little Mary Engelbreit-esque flowers from Under My Umbrella, stamped in Memento Black and colored with blends; I snipped them out and placed them around according to the sketch:

The sentiment from Positive Thoughts finished it off:

I hope you'll play along with our Clean and Simple challenge this week....we can't wait to see your spring flowered creations!  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see all the DT's creations and share yours as well!

Not all activities have been cancelled....birthday parties are still a go here!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP481 Get Well Soon

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Did you remember to turn your clocks ahead, if you're in the US?!  We turn ours ahead early on Saturday afternoon....one, so we don't forget, and two, it just makes the transition a bit easier!  Of course, if you have plans, to need to adjust accordingly!  Anyway, it's time for a color challenge at the Paper Players, with Laurie as our hostess!  I love these fun colors together:

They gave me a chance to play with the fun Birthday Bonanza DSP, so here we go:

I diecut the little koala from the DSP using the Bonanza dies....they make it so easy to get a perfect image, LOL!  I stamped some balloons in Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay and diecut them as well.  I positioned them on a big banner of confetti DSP and hand-drew some balloon strings down to the koala:

I created a horizontal banner and stamped a get-well sentiment on it in, then added a little element at the top, embellished with some ribbon:

The sketch I used is from Try Stampin on Tuesday:

My final additions were a few little sequins; this card was sent to a young lady who has been in the hospital for a few days and I thought it might cheer her up!  So I also entering it over at JUGS, where their theme for the week is "heal".

I hope you'll play along with our colorful challenge this week!  Be sure to check out what all the designers created at the Paper Players blog, and share yours with us too!

PP479 A SAB Sketch

Hi peeps!   I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week and I've got a sweet little sketch for you!

I confess that my card today is an almost CASE of this pretty card made by Michelle Last; you can see it here.  I chose the same papers and stamp set, both available during Sale-a-bration, but changed up the colors a wee bit and of course, used the sketch:

I began with some Melon Mambo ink and cardstock and layered some Golden Honey Specialty DSP on top.  I already had a scalloped panel cut and unused from another project, so I layered that on top, then added a sentiment from Accented Blooms, punched out with the Tailored Punch.

I stamped the flowers from Thoughtful Blooms in Melon Mambo as well; the larger blossom was stamped off first to create a lighter color, then the smaller blossom on top in full-strength ink.  I added some rhinestones that I colored with a Black Blend, and added some Granny Apple Green leaves.  My final embellishment was a little lattice diecut from the Nature's Thoughts dies.  I really wanted to add some extra stamping or embellishment on the white panel, but John said it looked better plain, so I went with his decision!

I hope you'll stop by the Paper Players blog and see what fun creations the DT made with my sketch!  Share yours as well!

While we were at Sandy Cove last weekend, we did an Escape Room...well, the others did the escape room, I was totally lost!  This picture pretty much sums it up:

Ask me to do a crossword puzzle, and I'm your gal....but this was a little beyond me!  But after seeing how it works, I think if I were to do another one, I might have a better idea about it!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP478 CAS Woodland Friends

Hey stampers!  It's Sunday and time for another Paper Players challenge...this week, Jaydee is our hostess with a clean and simple challenge:

I knew just what set I would be using for this clean and simple, almost-one-layer card!  Kristina Werner recently did a card where she colored in her little critters with pencils, and I hadn't used mine for a while, so I decided to give it a go!  Here we go:

I began with a set from Close to My Heart called Woodland Greetings; I stamped them in Stazon ink on a Crumb Cake card, then colored them with SU and Derwent watercolor pencils:

I tried to give them some shading for a wee bit of depth, then added some grass; the sentiment is from the same set, stamped on Whisper White and diecut with the retired Word Bubbles die:

My final touch was to round the corners of my card with my Detailed Trio punch!

I hope you'll play with our challenge this week...remember to make it clean and simple!  And be sure to stop over at the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers have created as well!

And here is a picture of the kids' own little "critters"!  Who would know that they would be best friends like this?!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP477 Delicate Hello

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess today with a yummy color challenge for us:

I had made this card a couple weeks ago as a sample for my club girls, and when I saw the challenge, I knew I had to share it, especially since my allergies have been making me feel less than creative lately!  The Honey Bee stamp set and the coordinating SAB DSP, Golden Honey Specialty, make creating pretty, delicate cards a breeze!  So here we go:

I took a piece of the small floral design DSP and used markers in Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler to fill in the flowers.  I also stamped one of the flowers from the set, used markers to color and shade it, then diecut it with the Detailed Bee Dies.  I used the stripe from the same DSP to make a simple horizontal piece to go across the the florals, popped up my flower and added a simple "hello", stamped on a stitched rectangle diecut:

I added some Rococo Rose faceted gems and mounted it all on a Blushing Bride card base.  I think the prints and patterns are so pretty, especially with these feminine pinks and reds!

I hope you'll play with our color challenge....I know it's close to Valentine's, but these colors don't have to be just for that occasion, they're pretty just to say "hello"!  Share your creation with us at The Paper Players, and while you're there, make sure you check out what the DT has created as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy is taking drum lessons at school, and her band teacher came to her classroom on Friday to give them a demonstration on percussion instruments!  I can't wait to hear about it!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP476 Hello Baby Love

Hi crafty friends!  Well, it's Sunday---Super Bowl Sunday---and Claire and the Paper Players have a "lovely" challenge for us today! Check it out:

I've been stamping Valentine cards up a storm, so I thought I would take a different route with my "love" card today!  Can you guess the love theme for my clean-and-simple card today?:

The So Sentimental stamp set has a sweet little baby stamp with a little heart on it, so I thought I would use that, along with some Pool Party gingham!  I stamped it in Pool Party as well, coloring in the heart with a Blend, then diecutting it with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly die:

My triple row of hearts features two dies from Close to My Heart; I diecut the top layer in Whisper White, then the bottom layers in So Saffron, Balmy Blue and Blushing Bride, and adhered them to the top of my card:

They work perfectly for the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge sketch for this week:

I don't know anyone who needs a baby card right now, but it's always nice to have one on hand!  I just think these colors are so sweet together, and babies mean LOVE, right?!  I hope you'll play along with our challenge this week, too!  Less than two weeks until Valentine's day, if that's your motivation!  We can't wait to see what you create at the Paper Players!  Thanks for popping in today!

A little ice skating at the University of Delaware's rink yesterday:

Wayne is a good skater, but I think perhaps some practice might be in order for Cass...apparently there was a lot of falling down, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP475 A Sketch from Joanne

Hi peeps!  It's Sunday, and time for a new Paper Players challenge!  Joanne has a fun sketch for us today:

My 2-year-old great-nephew has a birthday coming up, and I probably used these diecuts for his brother's card last year, but I am sure he won't mind seeing them again!!  Both boys are into trucks, tractors, backhoes, dump trucks...you name it, they love it!  So here we go:

Each dump truck was cut from Smoky Slate, Basic Black and various bright colors, then assembled on a Whisper White mat that was embossed with a Diamond Plate embossing folder.  I popped up the dump part of the truck with some dimensionals, and added some silver axles on the wheels, then used the retired Labeler Alphabet to make my sentiment:

If you're fortunate enough to have the retired 1/4" square punch that SU used to sell, it's a snap to punch out the letters and line them up on a piece of cardstock!!  I put the whole thing on a John Deere green, I mean a Call Me Clover card base and added a simple birthday sentiment on the inside!

So of course, I have to share a picture of the little guy; here he is with his mom mom and his brother just before Christmas; she gets all the grandkids together to make cookies.  This just makes my heart happy:

And here he is, in all his gingery sweetness....you know that sugar sprinkles make a great noise when you shake them, right?!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
