PP420 A Sketch from Sandy Times Two

Hello, stamping friends!  Hope your weekend is spiffy so far!  Sandy is our hostess for this week's Paper Players challenge, and she has a fabulous sketch!  Loved it so much, I made two cards!  So here we go:

I haven't used the Farmhouse Memories DSP too much this season, so I chose to do an almost-monochromatic card using Mossy Meadow with a touch of Crumb Cake for my first seasonal card:

Christmas Pines is one of the most versatile Christmas sets you could own...the sentiments are so pretty, as are the greenery pieces!  Here, I stamped the sentiment and added some Crumb Cake pinecones, then matted my square with a stitched mat and added some greenery and sequins.  I also separated a piece of thick baker's twine to make it less bulky and tied a little bow to embellish my pinecones:

The inside also has a Crumb Cake mat; sentiment is stamped in Crumb Cake and the greenery in Soft Sea Foam:

And I am also entering this in the Color Throwdown this week:

I also needed a birthday card for our soon-to-be-three-year-old nephew!  For my second card, I used a Balmy Blue card base, embossed with a geometrical EF, then added some plaid papers from Lawn Fawn and the loader from I Dig You:

I added some presents and a little "3" from the retired Little Numbers die in the bucket of the loader:

A Tim Holtz number and a sentiment from Perennial Birthday finished it off!

This sketch is great to use little pieces of DSP, and we all have them laying around!  Show us what you can create and share it with us at the Paper Players!  Can't wait to see it!  Meanwhile, check out what the DT created:

IB28 S'mores for a Boy

Happy Thursday, peeps, and welcome back to another Inspired By challenge!  I needed another baby card, another boy one, too and the prompt Laurel had for us today gave me just the colors I needed for this little bruiser...he weighed in at over eleven pounds when he was born!!!

And in case you were wondering about the "s'mores" in the title, here's the prompt:

Now I am not much of a s'mores fan...I know, weird, right?!  I like all the ingredients of these gooey treats, I just don't like them together!!  I love chocolate, I love marshmallows on a campfire, I love graham crackers with some milk, but they're just too sweet all smooshed together!  But these colors are perfect for the wee little critters from I Dig You, don't you think:

The colors of Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso and the retired Creamy Caramel all worked together so well!  I added some Candy Dots and brads for the wheels, and I just happened to find this little corrugated star I had punched for a previous project but never used!  The sentiment is from Nursery Necessities, stamped on a stitched tag die and also embellished with a Candy Dot:

I added a sentiment and stars from the same Nursery Necessities set!!

Finally, the sketch I used is from the past Fall to Layout #79; I flipped the sketch so the truck wouldn't be driving off the edge of my card:

I hope you'll find some sweet summer inspiration from our photo this week!  Be sure to post it over at the Inspired By blog so we can ALL enjoy it!

Just a girl and her dog, out for ride in the jeep.  Cassidy doesn't seem to mind that Eden is sitting on her lap, LOL!

Thanks for popping in today!   Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Just a quick little post tonight; my friend’s son and DIL had their first son!!!  I couldn’t wait to use these fun MME papers to congratulate them!

This uses MaryJo’s  Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 237:

I found the cute rickrack at a yard sale this summer; maybe I should have made the scallop circle the same color!  Oh well!  Thanks for popping in!

Happy Dirtday Challenges

 DSCF0917

I combined a few challenges today to make a “little boy” card….that might appeal to a big boy as well!  First, the SCS WT376 challenge was to use green; the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge 119 was to make a masculine card (actually they said it’s all about the man-cave…..I may be stretching this a bit!); and Mary Jo’s Techno Stamper sketch #222:

I did flip my circular element on my card as it balanced the bulldozer image a little bit better:

I am not real sure about the two greens together, but I really wanted to use the new In Color, Gumball Green, especially that fun ribbon!  I paired it with Lucky Limeade and some paper from the Summer Smooches line.  I am sure some little boy won’t mind two clashing shades!  Here’s the inside as well:

Paper Players 87

DSCF0003-1

Happy Sunday to you all!  It’s been a wonderful week, weather-wise; I hope you all are enjoying it!  Today the Paper Players have another challenge for you; it’s Nance’s turn to be the hostess and she’s got a clean and simple challenge for us:

This was not the first card I came up with…..but after seeing some of the other Paper Players’ cards this week, I thought I would change gears (no pun intended) and go with a different design!  Buttons are probably my favorite embellishment for a card, but I haven’t been using them as much lately because of the bulk!  But I threw that hindrance right out the window with my “little boy” card today:

PP87-LeAnne - 2

I apologize for the photo quality…for some reason, I just couldn’t get the colors quite right!  The stamp set is I Dig You; Bashful Blue is the card base, and  I  inked up my Square Lattice embossing folder with Soft Suede ink before running the Soft Suede “mountain”  through my Big Shot to give it some texture.   I think this will be a perfect birthday card for one of my little nephews!  And stop back tomorrow, when I’ll share the original card I had made for Nance’s challenge.

I sure hope that you’ll motor on over to the Paper Players blog and show us your CAS buttoned-up creation!  You may be chosen as a Cut Above, or even our Headliner for the week!  Have fun!

I Dig You Baby Card

DSCF2427

As soon as I saw the “I Dig You” set in the new catalog, I knew I had to have it!  Having so many new little boys coming into our family, I could see where it would be put to good use!  First off, I needed a baby congrats card, so I went to work!

DSCF2426

I used a bunch of fun new In Colors on this card, and did some markering to get the animals popping out of the top of the dump truck:

DSCF2425

The background is done using the new Stripes embossing folder and Lucky Limeade ink, and was shown at convention (but I can’t remember by whom!).  Ink the embossing folder on the raised side using a brayer and the Limeade ink, then run it through the Big Shot with a square of Whisper White cardstock.  Reink the embossing folder, turn the cardstock a quarter turn, making sure the stripes are perpendicular and even,  and run it through again.  It makes a wonderful embossed “gingham” effect!

DSCF2425-1

I used a tag from Lots of Tags and stamped my sentiment and a little heart from Itty Bitty Bits in Tangerine Tango, anchoring it with a new Polka Dot In Color brad,  and added a fun layered sentiment on the inside, using a sentiment from Petite Pairs (I have used that set SO much already!):
