Sympathies Abound

Happy Friday, peeps!  Unfortunately, it seems when I need one sympathy card, it happens that I need at least one or two more.  I was bracing myself and sure enough, the need arose.  I thought the color combo at Color Hues would be lovely for a sympathy card, paired with the sketch from FMS:

And here we go:

I used two layers of Night of Navy with a Very Vanilla base; the bottom one was cut with an Ornate Layers die and the top was embossed with the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder.  I stamped images from Positive Thoughts in Night of Navy ink and diecut them for my focal pieces:

I added some frayed Misty Moonlight twill ribbon as well as a blue rhinestone to add some interest.  I stamped a sentiment from Comfort and Hope on the inside, along with a flower from Positive Thoughts:

My second card uses the sketch only from the Fusion Card Challenge:

For this card, I used the Peony Garden DSP and stamps from Tasteful Touches.  I stamped the flower in Petal Pink and fussy-cut it, then stamped some of the foliage directly on to the cardstock.  The sentiment is from Here's A Card:

I added some Silver glimmer paper leafy things, diecut with the Nature's Thoughts dies:

And added this sweet little diecut border from the Stitched Be Mine dies...it's so small, it's easily overlooked, but it makes a lovely little design!

Thank you so much for popping in today...so happy you visited!

My niece sent me pictures of Sawyer opening his birthday card...our mail has been so erratic, I sent it early and I guess he just couldn't wait!  You can see it here if you want to check it out.  I hope it wasn't too disappointed it was just a card!

And a big grin for Aunt Le!  Love those kids!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Just a Couple of Cards

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a pleasant weekend.  I was able to do a little stamping and came up with a couple of cards!  The first one is for Kim's  FMS sketch; I needed a sympathy card for our youth pastor who lost a family member and I thought that sketch was quite intriguing....here's the sketch:

and here's the card:

As I was perusing my stash of DSP, I realized that the Poinsettia Place DSP  had some patterns that were sort of generic and might look good for a sympathy card.  I used a stitched strip die from Pretty Pink Posh to cut three pieces of DSP, then used my Stamparatus to stamp a sentiment from Comfort and Hope in between:

A stitched leaf in Garden Green along with some Linen Thread was my embellishment.  On the inside, a sentiment from Here's a Card, plus some greenery from the Comfort and Hope set:

I hope it brings them some peace.

I also have a card for the Jingle Belles challenge of "inchies"---think big but go small!  So cute, I love little inchie things, especially when I have a 1" punch that makes cutting them out a breeze!  Plus it gives you a chance to use up some of those little scraps we all have! So here we go:

I have had this pad of DSP from Illustrated Faith for a long time and haven't used it much, so I chose some of the patterns (hard to do, as they all are cute and they all coordinate!), punched them out and layered them on my card.  I added some doodads to make them even prettier:

The only stamping was the sentiment (Paper Smooches) and a little cardinal from a retired SU set called Nature's Christmas!  The inside was stamped with some Illustrated Faith images as well:

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Shades of Green

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Hope your weekend has some fun plans!  I have a couple of cards to share today, both featuring shades of green!  The first one is for the FMS sketch and uses some retired items:

The set I used is called Harvest Home, and it was stamped on some Naturals White cardstock with Stazon and watercolored with various inks.  I overstamped it with the Linen background stamp because I just love the effect that it gives!  The leaf is from the same set, fussy-cut, and the sentiment is from a Paper Pumpkin kit from a few years back.  The papers are from Orchard Harvest, also a few years back. I love the line-drawing detail in these types of stamps:

My next card uses the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday:

I had these three little strips of Forever Greenery floating around on my desk for several weeks and when I saw the sketch, I knew they would be perfect!  I diecut them with a narrow Stitched Rectangle die; they weren't quite long enough to go all the way across the card, so I cut and separated them and just layered my Pretty Peacock banner on top:

The sentiment is from Comfort and Hope, and I overstamped it with an image from the same set, stamped off with Old Olive.  I used the Stitched Shapes dies to cut it out, then backed it with another diecut from Tasteful Labels.  It was finished off with some retired Old Olive Linen thread:

That's it for today!  So happy you popped in!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!  And, someone asked me for my daughter's Spaghetti Squash Lasagna recipe; unfortunately, it does use marinara sauce, but I am sure you could substitute alfredo if you didn't like tomatoes.  Also, I am pretty sure she used ground turkey instead of sausage!  You can find the recipe HERE.

And here are a few more natures pictures from my walks this week:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PCC393 Meow

Hi stampers!  Today I'm sharing the card that didn't make it to my CAS Paper Players challenge!  Instead of a puppy, I used a kitten, along with the sketch from Paper Craft Crew challenge and just squeaking in the colors from the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge:

And so here we go:

I started with some Cherry Cobbler plaid from Plaid Tidings, and I used the same Paper Pal Pets set, stamping the cat in Cinnamon Cider and coloring her with Mango Melody ink, adding a little mouse and the ball of yarn:

I added a diecut "friend" from the Well Written dies, and a stitched banner behind.it.  The circular image is from Comfort and Hope; the final embellishments were some Holiday Rhinestones.  It's such a fun sketch and the colors are warm and friendly!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few pix from my garden:

And every year around this time, I begin looking for praying mantises on my holly bushes....but here's one that I didn't have to look for!  He appeared right on the side of the house:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP508 Fall Paper Hug

Hi stampers!  Hope your weekend is going along smoothly!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge with Anne Marie as our hostess, and she has a color palette for us:

Lots of beautiful fall colors!  I did struggle a wee bit with this one, but in the end, I think I managed to pull it off!  I had this large gold foil diecut piece on my desks for DAYS...just sort of pushing it around, wondering what to do with it.  I finally decided, since the challenge asks for glitter or foil, to use it as a background piece on my card today!  Here we go:

Most of the pieces from the die stayed intact, so I left them as they were, only pushing out "matching" ones along the outer edges!  I stamped some images from Comfort and Hope and Positive Thoughts as a background on a Very Vanilla card base, then stamped some Cajun Craze flowers from All Things Fabulous:

I added a sentiment from Comfort and Hope as well, and tied a one-hole bow with some retired Blackberry Bliss twine; the one-hole bow keeps it in place and it doesn't slide around!  You can't see it here, but the flowers are glittered with some Wink of Stella, and there are also a few rhinestones placed around as well!  I love these fall colors together, and I hope you will too!  Be sure to check out what the DT created at the Paper Players blog, and share you creations with us as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

My niece and her husband had a fish fry yesterday with lots of family and friends.  Cassidy absolutely would not stand still to let me take her picture, so I took some of my niece's piglets:

They get the piglets from a local Amish farmer; they are the runts of the litters, so he doesn't want them!  They were so cute!  My niece and her hubby also raise chickens and goats while working full-time jobs!

Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!  My friend Cheryl told me that yesterday was Encouragement Day and gave me this verse, which is one of my favorites:

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
1 Thessalonians 5:11

FMS452 Comfort and Hope

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I needed a sympathy card and the FMS sketch was perfect for the one I had in mind:

I don't necessarily think that sympathy cards always need to be in somber tones; my card today uses Just Jade and Coastal Cabana, which are two colors that I think complement each other nicely:

I stamped the greenery from Positive Thoughts directly onto the DSP, then added a sentiment from Comfort and Hope diecut with a Tasteful Labels die and mounted on a Just Jade diecut, also from the Tasteful Labels:

I added a few leaves from All Things Wonderful, and although they're hard to see, I added some green sequins!  Thanks for popping in today!

A day of school shopping:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Comfort and Hope

Happy Wednesday, all!  I recently got the Comfort and Hope stamp after seeing it used on several cards in blogland....I am a sucker for all those little eclectic background-y images!  The Spot challenge had a very interesting color palette, and the TGIF challenge had a sketch challenge, so I combined the two for a sympathy card; they're nice to have on hand:

And here are the challenge prompts:

I gave a piece of Shimmery White cardstock a wash with some water and Cinnamon Cider ink to get started, then I stamped images from Comfort and Hope and Beautiful Autumn and fussy-cut them out

I stamped the sentiment with Blackberry Bliss and added some elements from the set behind it, also giving it a stitched scalloped border and a little bow with some retired Blackberry Bliss twine:

I love the font on this sentiment..I stamped it on the inside and stamped a little greenery behind it.

I thought the color combo would be odd but I really like it together, and it pushed me to use Blackberry Bliss, which I rarely use!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here is a little cheerful guy....eating some cotton candy at Cowtown Rodeo:

It's hard for me to look at that cotton candy....BLUE food, yuck! LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
