AYSI222 Positive Thoughts

Happy Friday, peeps!  It's recipe time at As You See It!  Here's our ingredient list:

No photo description available.

I had not played enough with the Positive Thoughts set, so I thought I would pull it out and give it a go:

I stamped a flower in Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral and cut each out with the coordinating Nature's Thoughts die, sponging the edges to give them a little depth:

I stamped a couple of pieces of foliage in Mint Macaron and diecut them as well, tucking them in here and there.  My Petal Pink gingham background was diecut with the rectangle die from the same set, but it wasn't quite as big as I wanted, so I cut another narrower piece, matching my plaid, and pieced them together.  The Mint Macaron ribbon hides the seam!  I stamped the sentiment in Smoky Slate, and for my "something shiny", I added some Iridescent Sequins.  They match perfectly IRL, but the photo turns them a wonky shade...you'll just have to take my word for it, LOL!

I already have this card in the mail to a special friend!  I hope you'll do some crafty "cooking" with our recipe this time around...meanwhile, check out the others' creations and give them some love!  Then share yours too!  Thanks for popping in today!

Still working on those karate moves:

I hope you're able to get out and about and do some moves too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP482 CAS Spring Flowers

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope you are all faring well with the latest events going on in the nation!  Our schools are closing for two weeks...blessedly, Dana can work from home.  We are praying for everyone....at least we can still craft at home!

Today at the Paper Players, Joanne has a CAS challenge for us:

Thankfully I had already used the Case This Sketch sketch when I made my card, because I totally missed the CAS part of Joanne's challenge!!! So here we go:

I started with a card base of Whisper White, then added a little piece of Pleased as Punch DSP and a Basic Black strip embossed with the cross-stitch die from the Stitched Labels dies. I used the sweet little Mary Engelbreit-esque flowers from Under My Umbrella, stamped in Memento Black and colored with blends; I snipped them out and placed them around according to the sketch:

The sentiment from Positive Thoughts finished it off:

I hope you'll play along with our Clean and Simple challenge this week....we can't wait to see your spring flowered creations!  Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see all the DT's creations and share yours as well!

Not all activities have been cancelled....birthday parties are still a go here!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI220 Swan Colors

Hi peeps!  TGIF!  It's time for a new challenge at As You See It, and we have a fun color challenge for you:

Image may contain: text

I chose to apply my colors to this fun sketch from In(k)spire Me:

and here we go:

I got these amazing stitched flower dies from My Favorite Things a while back, so I put them to use with some cardstock in the challenge colors, mounting them on a white stitched rectangle panel and a plaid mat of Poppy Parade.  I added a wee sentiment so as not to detract from the flowers, and to add some fun, I stamped some polka dots on the Mango Melody leaves, as well as some enamel dots for the centers:

For the inside, I added a strip of the same gingham and a leftover flower, and a sentiment from Positive Thoughts:

What will you create with these colors?  I just can't wait to see!  Please share them with us at As You See It and check out what the DT created as well!  Thanks for popping in today!

CASC&S358 Positive Thoughts

Happy Friday, everyone!  My card today features some spring-like colors from the Clean and Simple Colours and Sketches challenge:

Aren't they pretty?  I wanted to practice some blending skills, so I heat embossed the greenery image from Positive Thoughts on some Shimmery White cardstock with Craft White ink and White embossing powder, then blended on some Pear Pizzazz ink.  This is what I came up with:

I added some Grapefruit Grove faceted gems to my greenery, as well as a diecut butterfly:

And I added a sentiment from Woven Heirlooms before tying on some crinkly seam binding that I had dyed with some Daffodil Delight ink:

I used the Stitched Rectangle die to cut out my panel beforehand, layering it on two panels of Whisper White cardstock that had been diecut with the largest scallop die from Stitched So Sweetly dies; I trimmed one end off one of the diecuts and carefully layered them together to create a larger mat.  It all went on a Grapefruit Grove card base!  I left the inside blank; I'll fill in a sentiment when I need to!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB112 Cacti Greens

Hi stampers!  It's time for a new Inspired By challenge!  Here's Laurel's photo prompt for this week:

I have absolutely no cacti stamps, so I decided to go with the greens in the photo!!!  I have some lovely green patterned DSPs from the Garden Lane line, and I thought they would go nicely with the Positive Thoughts set from the Mini Catalog:

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

And because the papers are fairly busy, I just made a very simple sentiment panel using the Sweetly Stitched and Stitched Rectangle dies, which frame the sentiment nicely.  I also added the fern stamp as a background:

I added a little bit of embroidery floss embellishment, which is another bit of "green"!  I hope you'll check out what the DT did at Inspired By, and be sure to play along!!!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Not only do I not have any cactus stamps, I have no cacti either!  But I do have a little "ice cube" orchid in my window (named that because you only give it an ice cube a week as water!), and I honestly thought it would never bloom again after last Easter, but it surprised me:

I just love that little "face"!  And since this photo was taken, another bloom has appeared! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI219 Positive Thoughts Sketch

Happy Friday, peeps!  And Happy Valentine's Day!  No Valentines today, but I do have a lovely card featuring some new stamps from the mini catalog, along with their new coordinating dies!  But first, let me show you the beautiful sketch for the As You See It challenge this week:

No photo description available.

I almost went with the Honey Bee set, after seeing that beehive shape, but I went in another direction because I really wanted to use Positive Thoughts.  I already had some Coastal Cabana things on my desk from yesterday's card, and I happened to find this pretty retired DSP, so this is what I came up with:

I started by diecutting a Very Vanilla scalloped circle and scalloped square that matched pretty closely in size, and put them together, hiding the seam under a horizontal piece of Crumb Cake.  I stamped some of the elements from Positive Thoughts on to the VV panel in Sahara Sand and Pool Party.  I stamped a "grungy" element from Label Me Bold on the Crumb Cake panel and topped it with a Soft Suede diecut from the coordinating die set, Nature's Thoughts.  I stamped the butterfly in Coastal Cabana, colored it with Crumb Cake blend and sponged the edges, then diecut it as well:

Since I still had this cute little frilly trim left on my desk, I added it and a "hello" from the Label Me Bold set too.  A couple of gold metallic pearls and a few little Pool Party sprigs finished it off.  I did add sponging and shading to most every layer to amp up the vintage look!

I haven't done a vintage-style card for a while and it was fun to do!  But of course, this sketch lends itself to most any style of stamping, and I can't wait to see what you create with it.  Share it with us at As You See It and check out what the DT created as well!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
