Wee Little Bloggy Break

Hi peeps!  Just popping in to tell you I'm taking a wee little bloggy break; I'll have a Paper Players card on Sunday, but today my niece is getting married, so I just want to enjoy my family and the holiday weekend!  I'll leave you with a few shots from my morning walks!  See you soon and have a blessed weekend!

IB35 Graphic Noel

Happy Thursday, everyone!  It is still HOT HOT HOT here!  It's hard to think about fall and winter, but that's just what I did for today's Inspired By challenge!  I went gold and graphic:

This is such a departure from my usual style, but I really like!  I had a chance to use a bunch of older stamps, too!  Before I tell you which ones, here's Laurel's prompt:

I can't say why I chose to do a Christmas card, but I was looking through some of my old stamps and saw a couple of graphic/silhouette style images and thought I would go with that!  The "berries" were stamped in Basic Black, and are from an old set called Autumn Days, and are embellished with some gold sequins:

The square panel is SU's Brushed Gold (ret), on which I stamped and embossed a wreath in Versamark ink and black embossing powder, and it is from Concord & 9th's Joyful Noel. The  square Noel sentiment is from an old Paper Pumpkin kit, also stamped and embossed in black.  There's a tiny bit of gold ribbon at the bottom and some gold thread at the top!

Finally, on the inside, a background and sentiment from the same Concord & 9th set:

I feel like I am channeling my inner Michele with this card...she always has such fun graphics!  I hope you can play along with our challenge this week...can't wait to see what you create!

It's so hot here, I thought I would share some pix from the last day at the pool:

Enjoying a snack in preparation for battle!

Kids!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!!

CAS Colours and Sketches #287 Blessing

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I am late, late, late today---it's a lazy day for me!  I made this card last night but forgot to post it!  So here we go, a little taste of fall on this hot, humid day!  I used some papers from Carta Bella called Fall Break along with a stamp from Right at Home for my CAS Colours and Sketches card:

And here's the sketch:

Since it's CAS, I didn't add any mats to my papers, just let them shine on their own!  I love this sentiment...it's from a fall set called Grateful Heart, but you could use this one any time of the year:

I stamped the pumpkin in Early Espresso ink and colored it with Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral blends:

These colors and images just make me smile!  I mounted it all on a Very Vanilla card base that I embossed with the Tufted EF!   And here's another reason to smile....back to school!

She is feeling quite grown up, now that she is in third grade, and sporting a Minecraft backpack, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

RRCB94 Consider Yourself Vintage

Hi peeps!  It's Tuesday and that means Retro Rubber time!  We've got an easy one for you this week:

Image may contain: text

Yep, it's an Anything Goes challenge...you just need to use stamps at least a year old (and tell us how old they are!)!!!  For today's card I used an Artistic Outpost stamp set called Route 66 and a Unity set called Consider Yourself Vintage...these both happen to be from 2012!  I stamped some of the images on the DSP in Granite Gray ink, collage-style, then stamped some more on my main panel.  I matted the main panel with an Early Espresso mat, which I distressed with an acrylic ruler:

I stamped the sentiment on a little banner/tag and overstamped it with a checkerboard image (My Favorite Things Distressed Background Blocks, probably from around the same time):

and just for fun, I added a couple of pieces of the new Chicken Wire Elements from the upcoming Mini Catalog!  They look like metal, but they're paper and they cut very easily!  I added a metallic brad in one corner as well!

I am always short of masculine birthday cards, so this will bulk up my stash...I certainly have enough "vintage" friends that would appreciate my sense of humor!

What will you come up with...the possibilities are limitless!  Share your creation at the Retro Rubber blog, we can't wait to see it!

You never know what you'll find at Walmart!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Last Week for Bonus Days!

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to remind you that this week is the last week to take advantage of SU's BONUS DAYS!  For every $50 you spend (pre-tax and pre-shipping), you earn $5 to spend in September!  And the Color Your Season promotion ends this week, too, both on Friday, August 31!  You can see details of both promotions (and shop too!) right HERE on my website!  Remember, Christmas and other holidays are right around the corner....if you need to stock up, now is the time!

Thanks a Bunch for CAS on Sunday 140

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend, we sure did!  It is the first day of school today...third grade, how did that happen?  Plus I am having a Christmas card stamp camp tonight, so this will be short and sweet!  I had been thinking that I needed to use some of the new purple hues that SU introduced, and when I saw Annie's card here for the Paper Players yesterday, I was inspired....not to make a purple octopus, but just some purple flowers!  So here we go:

I used the CAS On Sunday (or is it Friday?)sketch:

I don't have any DSP in purples, so I began by stamping my horizontal panel with floral images from Beautiful Bouquet in Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green, randomly stamping them to create my own DSP:

I stamped a sentiment on the Thick White Cardstock card front, then embossed it with the Subtle EF:

Finally, I stamped a spray of wee little flowers, accented by a larger one, and diecut it with a Stitched Shapes oval framelit, extended the stem:

I added a tiny mat of Granny Apple Green and a green center to my big flower!  I think these colors are very pretty together!  Thanks for popping in today!

Here is the second card that Cassidy made over the weekend; this is for her best friend/neighbor, Lee.  Their birthdays are only about a week apart, and I get the feeling she understands what 8-year-old boys like....trucks and bulldozers!  She used I Dig You, doing some layering and coloring with markers:

And when I told her the dirt pile looked like a pile of something else, she giggled and said "Yes, I KNOW!"....as I said, she is 8 too, LOL!

KIDS!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP407 Just a Note

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today with a fabulous sketch!  I just LOVE this sketch, I can't figure out why I haven't come up with this one before!!!  Here is it:

I didn't really follow the sketch 100% (hope Jaydee doesn't mind) but I got so carried away with thinking "threes" that I zoned out on the dimensions!  Anyway, it gave me a chance to finally dig into these beautiful Share What You Love Specialty papers...I know, I am slow on the uptake, but I finally got them and they are gorgeous!  So here we go:

I REALLY wanted to use the velvet ribbon in the Holiday Mini, too...it's technically Tranquil Tide, but it looks more like Lost Lagoon to me, so that's what I used as a mat for my papers.  I used a sentiment from Wishing You Well, and fussy-cut a flower from the same DSP to add as an accent:

I used my trusty Envelope Punch Board to round the corners of my card and layers...so easy!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week; I know I'll be using it a lot in the future...just think of the little scraps you have...they would work great!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Meanwhile, check out what the DT members created:

My dad is having some serious health issues, so Cassidy and I had to make an unanticipated trip to the Delaware shore to take him to a doctor's appointment.  It's over a two-hour drive, so I promised her a trip to the boardwalk as a reward!  Here she is at Funland on her favorite ride!  I went to Funland when I was a kid, as did Dana!  It's fun to continue the tradition!  She even convinced me to go on the bumper cars!!!

Thanks for visiting today, be blessed and enjoy it!

Hey, Friend

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Another beautiful day here in PA, hopefully I can get outside once I get all my supplies cut for my upcoming stamp camp!  I managed to squeak in a little stamping time, just enough to finish a CAS card using Serene Garden and Itty Bitty Greetings:

I stamped the flowers in Soft Suede and colored them with Pumpkin Pie and Mint Macaron Blends; I stamped and embossed the sentiment in Craft White, cutting it out with a tag die and adding a pearl. It was then mounted with a piece of Grapefruit Grove DSP atop a Whisper White panel embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder (retired).

I used the FMS sketch by Amy:

and a new-to-me challenge, Festive Friday:

#festivefridaychallenge, #FF0015, StampinUp, International Dot Day, Embossing Folder

I just love these little flowers!

Cassidy and I had a big card-making binge yesterday morning before going to the pool!  This one was for her four-year-old cousin who happens to love Paw Patrol!  She stamped the dog from Little Cuties, made it into a dalmatian, because he loves firemen, and she hand-drew a fire hat!  We cut out a couple word bubbles and she added her own sentiments and his name, diecut from Real Red and Daffodil Delight cardstocks:

His name is Marshall:

And on the inside, this guy is Rubble (get the "dig" sentiment?!!):

I was really impressed with her creativity!  Thanks for popping by, enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI183 Trick or Treat

Hi everyone!  Yay, it's Friday and it has finally decided to be NICE weather!  Love it!  We're headed for one last fling in the pool before school starts!  I felt like doing some fall/Halloween stamping for today's As You See It challenge, which is a fun sketch!

No automatic alt text available.

I had several ideas for this sketch and even did another card before doing this one!  Not a problem; it was a baby card and I happened to need one, so it didn't go to waste!  But I liked this one better:

My designer papers are from a fun My Mind's Eye pad called Frightful; I have used almost every scrap of it, but I did have these fun moustache and dictionary papers still unused; I paired them with a retired My Favorite Things pumpkin set called Primitive Pumpkins, stamping them in various shades of orange, fussy-cutting them, and layering them along the bottom of the panel.  I stamped the stars and tendrils as well:

I added some black glimmer paper accents and sentiment, then added a little twine bow:

And I had an extra pumpkin left over, so I added it to the sentiment inside:

I confess that I probably need a Halloween stamp intervention - I just am a sucker for cute Halloween stamps, so I need to start early so I can use them all, LOL! I hope you'll play along with our sketch...there are lots of possibilities for it and I can't wait to see how you use it!  And just for fun, here's the other card I made:

It uses Better Together with Twinkle Twinkle DSP...love these colors!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

This picture of Cassidy and her friends in the pool reminds me of the nursery rhyme, Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a tub....rub-a-dub-dub, three kids on a raft, LOL!
