Retro Ornaments for The Card Concept

Hi everyone!  Wow, it's Wednesday already--the week is flying by!  I have been seeing fabulous creations using The Card Concept's gorgeous inspiration photo:

and I just had to jump on the bandwagon!  I had some pretty papers from Kaisercraft called Silver Bells, and they seemed perfect for the challenge; I would identify this as the "Clean and Layered" style:

My card base is 4 1/4" square, but I extended the fussy-cut ornaments above the fold, as it will still ft into a standard-sized envelope!  When I created this card at about 10pm at night, the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock looked like a match, but I see in my photo, the pinks are a little different...still, it's almost a match!  Aren't these silver-embossed baubles beautiful?

The musical background paper is from the same pad, and the silver embossed sentiment is from this month's Paper Pumpkin...just love that little set!  I used another ornament for the inside, along with a sentiment from Christmas Pines, also embossed in silver:

Sparkly is right!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

John Deere girl!  And what an ornery grin!

SIP127 All Wrapped Up

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Our latest Stamp Ink Paper challenge is a fun one---All Wrapped Up!

No automatic alt text available.

I already had this little snowman from Seasonal Chums colored and cut out, so I set out to do something with him!  The stamp presents itself as a tag, but I didn't necessarily want to use him as a tag, but I did use him as an embellishment on a little Wood Crate:

I created the crate with the Wood Crate die, using Smoky Slate cardstock and stamping the Hardwood background stamp on it with Craft White ink.  I used a few retired products to create my little "sign" in Real Red and Bermuda Bay, then added some Mini Tinsel Trim and some holly leaves from the Quilt Builder die.  The berries were created with a scrap of Real Red Glimmer paper and my 1/8" circle punch:

Last, I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter and some recycled tissue paper from my latest Paper Pumpkin (which I haven't even opened yet!!):

The design team has created some wonderful tags and packaging....be sure to check them out, leave some love, and share your gifty packaging with us as well!  Can't wait to see what you bring to the party!

Cassidy got her own little snowman over the weekend...unfortunately it's one of those annoying toys that mimics what you say....thank goodness there's an "off" button!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

LRW421 CAS Happy Birthday and FREE SHIPPING!

Happy Monday, everyone!  My birthday card supply was getting very low, and I found a very CAS sketch on the Little Red Wagon blog, so I thought I'd do a little assembly-line with the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP!  Here's the sketch:

The first two are basically the same design, I just used the opposite sides of the paper for the background (and no stamping except for the inside!!!):

I used a circle of the same DSP line, layered with vellum to soften it a little, and gold foil for the Happy Birthday Thinlet; the horizontal panel is some retired Very Vanilla Subtle Stripes satin ribbon.  The next one uses the Blushing Bride DSP, with a circle of Blushing Bride cardstock, embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder and Very Vanilla for the birthday diecut:

Finally, the third one uses the Soft Sky DSP with a silver foil butterfly and Simon Says Stamp birthday diecut:

This DSP is so pretty!!  I need to use it more often!

AND....I know I don't usually promote my Stampin' Up! business on my blog, but SU has free shipping today ONLY!  So if you have anything you "need", I have a hostess code for today only....X9TJNAMD.  You can find my website on the right sidebar!  Just set up an account, type in the host code and you'll be good to go!  Gotta take advantage of free shipping, right?!

Cassidy still likes to play with her dolls....here she is "helping" her baby (Emily I think it is) hold a cup:

Still the little mommy!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP372 Ho Ho Ho Sketch from Joanne

Happy Sunday, all!  I hope you've weathered Thanksgiving, Black Friday and whatever it is they call the Saturday after Thanksgiving, all okay!  I do admit to doing a wee bit of online shopping for myself, but I do not venture out during those crazy times!!!

Joanne is our fabulous hostess at the Paper Players this week with a sweet little sketch:

I was also inspired by the colors of red and turquoise in the Just Us Girls challenge this week too!

I spent a little time this weekend in my craft room sorting, sorting, sorting....and I found this die I purchased last year and it hadn't been out of the package!  So it was my starting point for my Christmas card:

I already had a Bermuda Bay card precut and scored, so I chose that as my background, adding some retired SU DSP, some silver Mini Tinsel Trim, and an image of Santa, checking his list.  I also embossed a portion of the background with a Christmas word embossing folder:

I used a few different sets for the inside; it's so weird that Bermuda Bay ink on Bermuda Bay cardstock looks green!!

So glad you could pop in today; I hope you'll check out the Paper Players blog to see what the others created, and while you're there, share your creation with us as well!  Can't wait to see what you create!

My new kitchen has a nice long countertop on which to make cookies!  Cassidy is practicing with my cookie gun, and she did a really great job with it, too!

We had to try all the different disks....she really like giving the little men "eyes":

And of course, licking the beaters just goes without saying:

We're still working on the backsplash...we have a lot of sawing and painting to do, but we'll have it done by Christmas, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Easy Peasy Let it Snow

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Just a quick post and a quick card--we're decorating our church for Advent today and then I'm going to begin painting the backsplash for the kitchen!  Fun!  I recently purchased a set of Winter Wonderland papers and diecuts by Simple Stories, and put some together to make this really easy card:

The only stamping is the sentiment on the inside!  I did create a snowy hill with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside die, and added some little brown birds (Poppystamp's Chirping Birds die):

Such a fun card to make!!  Thanks for popping by!

The kids went to a local Parade of Lights; I just love this little camper:

A big rig:

And a truck pulling a little gingerbread house and tree:

A fun way to get into the holiday spirit!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

MM266, RRCB76 and FMS314 Vintage Santa

Happy Friday!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We had a lovely one, with lots of good food and wonderful news of upcoming blessings....an engagement for one nephew and a baby for another!  I did get a little stamping time in the evening and had a chance to make a Christmas card for the Merry Monday and Freshly Made Sketches challenges:

I hadn't done a vintage card for a while, so I pulled out an old Papertrey set called Believe, stamped the Santa on some Crumb Cake cardstock and colored him in with my Copics.  I have to admit that his face is a little orange-y....I haven't used my Copics for a while, so I am a little rusty!  And my blending needs a little practice, but it was fun to do:

I added a "merry" in Always Artichoke, a snowflake of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper (although you can't see the sparkle), and banners of twill and vellum:

Here's the inside:

And since this image is from several years ago....maybe 2011 or so....I am entering it in the Retrorubber Challenge of Anything Goes!

RRCB 76

So happy you popped in today!  And here is my crew, wishing you a belated Happy Thanksgiving!

SIP126 Season of Thanks

Hi everyone!  It's time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge!  I love this prompt Justin created:

No automatic alt text available.
I have been loving these Concord and 9th Season of Cheer dies; I cut one of each of all the dies in the set using some Mossy Meadow cardstock, and when I saw today's challenge, thought I would use these against a backdrop of some fall leaves from Colorful Seasons:

I stamped the leaves in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango, and added some little doodads in Real Red.  The big bold sentiments really make a statement!  I love them!

Please share your thankful creations at the SIP blog!  They don't have to be Thanksgiving cards...even just a thank you card would be great!  There are always people in our lives for whom we are thankful!  And speaking of thankful, I am thankful that Dana and Wayne got to visit Dana's half-brother Kevin in Key West this past week and attend his wedding:

Yes, he and Kristy got married on a big sailing ship...check out that beautiful sky and water!  Amazing!  They had this planned for quite a while and the recent hurricane altered their plans a wee bit, but all ended well!  Here are a few pix of Kevin and Dana:

Dana and Wayne took the opportunity to have a delayed honeymoon while in Key West, and really enjoyed everything the area had to offer!  But Cassidy is waiting patiently to have them come home!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
