Five-Minute Christmas Card

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  There are a couple of Christmas card challenges out there this week; 52 Christmas Card Throwdown wants a "quick" Christmas card, and Inspire.Create also wants a Christmas card:

I got these beautiful papers from Divinity Designs at the end of last year, and they make for a very quick, beautiful card....I just trimmed them down, mounted them on a card front and stamped a sentiment:

This sentiment, stamped in Mossy Meadow, is from the retired Shine Bright:

The inside sentiment is from the retired Greatest Part of Christmas:

I did add a couple of snowflake sequins for fun, but the whole thing took about five minutes.  It took me longer to unjam my bottle of glue than it did to make the card!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP735 Sketch from Claire

Hello, everyone, happy Sunday! Claire is our hostess this week at the Paper Players and she has a great sketch for us!  Check it out:

I haven't made a Christmas card for a while, and I still had lots of ephemera from the Joyful Images pack from the holiday catalog, so I pulled out a snowman image and went to work:

I already had the embossed piece in my Pool Party file--perfect to go with my cute little snowman! I just added a strip of Poppy Parade DSP, embellished with scalloped strips of Garden Green, and a fun little sentiment from the retired Nothing Sweeter:

A sentiment from Greatest Part of Christmas and a stamped snowflake went on the inside:

This is a really versatile sketch and I can't wait to see what everyone creates with!  Share it with us over at the Paper Players blog!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

JAI731 & RRCB245 Winter Sleigh Rides

Happy Friday, peeps! Are your Christmas cards all done?  I have mine almost all addressed and ready to go, but I still love making them!  Especially when there are so many fun challenges out there! The one from Just Add Ink really caught my eye, along with the Tic-Tac-Toe board from Retro Rubber:

I was inspired by the red, white and tan colors in the photo and I chose the middle row down on the TTT board of texture, greenery and tag, although I could have also done a couple more of those rows/columns!  So here we go:

I used a really old Cornish Heritage Farms set called Winter Signage to create my little sign; it is mounted on a piece Country Woods DSP tag, cut with a Bonanza die.  That stamp is at least ten years old, LOL!  I added diecut greenery in Evening Evergreen and a bit of Cherry Cobbler striped ribbon that retired long, long ago!

I mounted everything on a Cherry Cobbler panel that was embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder called Deer Knit.  On the inside, a sentiment from Greatest Part of Christmas (2019), along with a wee little cup of cocoa from Merry Cafe (2017):

I did add a few little cherry cobbler "berries" for fun!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TTTC260 Soft Sky Christmas

Happy Friday, peeps! I am off this morning to stamp with my retirement community friends, so this will be short and sweet! The Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Vicky this week is a fun one:

I've been working on some Christmas cards for my next stamp camp and one of them fit the bill; actually, it could be for two tic-tac-toes!  I originally chose the top row across but it could also be the left column down.  Here we go:

I still have a few pieces of Soft Sky cardstock left in my stash, and I thought it would be pretty with this Cottage Cut Winter Wonderland Border die.  I stamped a large sentiment from the retired Greatest Part of Christmas in Baja Breeze, then added a few snowflakes.  The snowflakes sort of blended into the background, so I sponged some white craft ink along with some white Shimmer Paint around the edges.  It's hard to see but it gives the card a nice subtle sparkle!

I added some sparkle to the snow as well....too bad you can't really see it here!  I just love this cute little die!

The inside featured another sentiment from the same set, diecut with the Unbounded Love dies:

I am still on the fence as to whether or not this card will make the cut for the class.  Also, I'd love to get some more cardstock that is close to this pretty shade of blue!  Anyone have any suggestions as to where and what color they would recommend?  I was so sad when SU retired this!  Anyway, thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP704 Sketch from Jaydee

Happy Sunday, everyone! Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess this week with a fabulous sketch! I just love sketches!  Here's what she came up with:

I went with a square-shaped card and pulled out my neglected Nests of Winter DSP! This card features almost all paper....only one wee little stamp:

I paired the twig paper with some Country Lace paper and diecut the bird from the Nests of Winter paper as well, using the Winterly Tree Tops dies.  I mounted him on a couple of diecut circles, stamped the word "peace" from Iconic Imagery and finished it off with some sequins and a Moody Mauve mat:

I added a sentiment from the retired set called Greatest Part of Christmas:

Easy and simple to let the paper do most of the work!  I hope you'll be inspired by our sketch and will play along with us at the Paper Players blog!  See you there!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

The Card Concept 129 Warm Winter Wishes

Hi everyone!  Today we have a new Card Concept challenge...check out this warm wintery vignette:

Cute!  Unfortunately, there has been NO SNOW in my neck of the woods at ALL this winter--one of the warmest on record!  So I have had to get all my inspiration from these fun papers that I've been hoarding!  Check out my little Shabby and Vintage snowman card:

This little guy was on a sheet of 12x12" scrapbook paper from an older DCWV pad called The Crafty Christmas!  I trimmed it down to fit a Merry Merlot card base, then went to work to add some vintage layers!

I diecut some snowflakes from some white glimmer paper and sponged a little bit of Crumb Cake ink  on them to give them a more rustic look:

I stamped a sentiment in Soft Suede from a retired set, Winter Wishes, on a scrap of the same paper, then cut it out freehand and sponged on some White craft ink around the edges along with a swoosh of Wink of Stella!  The "winter" is from a Susan Branch alphabet set that I also cut out freehand; I love the eclectic look it creates!

My final touch was some thick baker's twine, and a sentiment on the inside:

I hope you enjoyed my Shabby and Vintage card, and hope you'll play along with us this week at The Card Concept!  Just remember to tell us your style! See you there!

The family went to a sushi restaurant recently and Cassidy ate her dinner with chopsticks....they're "fake" but she used them all throughout the meal!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

ICC058 Christmas Greetings

Every time I say I don't need any more Christmas cards, I find out I DO!  The Inspire Create challenge had a lovely color palette, so I thought I would give it a go:

Image may contain: text

The colors are Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive, and I chose the swag from Shine Bright, stamped in Stazon ink for the focus of my card:

I had a piece of Old Olive gingham DSP already diecut with a Stitched Rectangle die, so I used that to kick off my design.  I watercolored the greenery in Old Olive, added Cherry Cobbler berries and believe it or not, when you use full-strength Blushing Bride, you get this color, which I used on my bow!  After coloring and fussy-cutting the bottom portion, I popped it up with dimensionals on top of the gingham panel:

I also used Cherry Cobbler for shadowing as well as the sentiment from Greatest Part of Christmas; I accented the words with a couple of pine boughs from Winter Woods:

I added some thick Baker's Twine as a final accent.  Thanks for popping in today!
I always try to make Cassidy a little felt ornament for Christmas; Pinterest is full of ideas, I could spend hours looking at them!  I ended up buying a pattern from Etsy to make this rather fierce-looking owl:

The colors were not as nice as the sample, but I just used what I had on hand; he also has cardstock eyes, as I didn't have any black beads...I didn't want to make a trip to Walmart just for two beads!  I did add the twine, holly and berries (SU's Quilt Builder die for the holly and French knots for the berries) on my own:

I know Mommy likes owls so hopefully Cassidy will too!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTS349 and GDP217 Pink Poinsettia

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I hope you had a good Thanksgiving...I took a day off from stamping to be with family, but I had to sneak in a quick card I made this afternoon using the Global Design Project colors as well as the Cas(e) This Sketch sketch:

My card uses a thick Whisper White base, a Crumb Cake frame created with the Stitched Rectangle dies, and a Flirty Flamingo poinsettia:

The patterned paper is from the Mad 4 Plaid Christmas 6x6 pad by Photoplay; the pointsettia die is from Shady Lane Impressions, which is an Amish stamp store near my house...they actually have their own line of dies!  I shaded it with some Real Red ink:

And the sentiment is from Greatest Part of Christmas; I also added some clear white embellishments from last year's Holiday catalog!

Thanks for popping in today!  And speaking of poinsettias, check these out from Longwood; aren't they stunning?

Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge, too!

IB97 Warm Woolen WIshes

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Time for another Inspired By challenge and with the upcoming COLD weather forecast, I think it's very appropriate! So here we go:

And here's Laurel's prompt....check out those warm blankets!  We're going to need them this weekend!

I know my background is more plaid than striped like the blankets in the picture, but while checking some cards out on other blogs, I came across this card by Heather Telford, and I loved the background so much, I just had to re-create it!  I actually had it lying on my desk, waiting to be embellished, when I saw Laurel's inspiration and I thought it might work!  I also used the Global Design Project's sketch for this week:

So to create the background, I stamped the Buffalo Check stamp in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate cardstock, then added Cajun Craze stripes with a SU marker.  The bunny from Nature's Beauty was stamped on a stitched panel with Memento ink and colored with Blends, and the little stitched sentiment piece is from an old Whippersnapper set, stamped in Cajun Craze.  The Nature's Beauty set happens to have a little "snow" stamp, so I filled in the background with it, then added some Ice Stampin' Glitter snow:

This pretty little sentiment from Greatest Part of Christmas hostess set was stamped on the inside:

These are unusual colors for a Christmas card, but sometimes it's fun to think outside the box!  I hope you'll play along with us and use the inspiration photo to create something warm and fuzzy!  And check out what the DT created at Inspired By too! Thanks for popping by today!

A little snuggle time:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
