TTTC168 From Your Biggest Fan

Happy Thursday (again), peeps!  My second post of today!  We've got a new Tic Tac Toe board for you!  Felicita and Team X have created this for you:

I chose the left column of Friendship, Any Color and Any Shape Die!  So here we go:

This was actually John's Father's Day card.....I have had this paper for a long time and loved it but could never figure out how to use it!  I remembered an old set called Puns from the Past that had a vintage fan and I thought it would be perfect.  I stamped it in Soft Suede and fussy-cut it out, mounting it on a Very Vanilla square, diecut with Stylish Shapes.  I mounted that on a Soft Suede Stitched Nested Label die. The only drawback was the sentiment....it was "Fan Mail".  Cute, but not quite what I was looking for!  So I did a computer-generated sentiment and diecut it with the banner from Stylish Shapes, then added it to my focal point. The final embellishments were some metallic brads:

I normally make John a sailboard card, but he really liked this one too!  I hope you can find a combination that tickles your fancy on our Tic Tac Toe board....them come play along at the TTT blog! See you there!

Cassidy is working her way towards a black belt....it's a long haul!  She passed a test yesterday and got another stripe for her blue belt, and when the kids do this (see the video), it always amazes me!

Thanks for visiting today---enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS542 Say Boo

Happy Thursday peeps!  Wow, can't believe tomorrow is JULY 1st!!  I played around yesterday with one of the new sets that will be coming out in the holiday mini tomorrow, and although I wasn't 100% happy with it, I thought I would share it anyway!  I used the sketch from FMS, flipping the orientation so my little trick-or-treaters wouldn't be marching off my card:

And here we go:

This card really didn't photograph well, not sure why! I stamped my wee little scary ones from Scary Cute in Stazon ink on Smoky Slate cardstock and diecut them with the matching dies from Scary Silhouettes. I added a gold foil moon and some stars to create my little scene:

I used a piece of Smoky Slate for the card base, and I stamped it with one of the shell background stamps from Friends are Like Seashells to create some "clouds"! My horizontal panel is from the new Lights Aglow DSP.  I stamped the sentiments in Stazon and added a sentiment on the inside for my first Halloween card of the year! I would probably have done the main sentiment a little differently, as it almost gets lost on the DSP, but that will be for next time!

Cassidy has been practicing her baking skills (which is making it hard for me to keep my weight off, LOL!).  Her friend likes carrot cake, so she made a box mix and since she is all about color, created some orange icing for the top:

Baking is such a great skill to learn...you need to know fractions, read and follow directions, learn how to use kitchen tools (especially pot holders, LOL!) and you end up with a yummy treat at the end!  Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

Babies are a Blessing

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  A wee bit late today...just haven't gotten into my summer stamping routine yet!  I needed a baby congratulations card, and the sketch from Atlantic Hearts worked great with the colors from Global Design Project:

I don't have many baby stamps but the retired Bonanza Buddies stamp set is one I usually go to when I need something along that line, so I pulled out the toucan and went to work!  So here we go:

I diecut three circles in the challenge colors using the Stylish Shapes dies, then added stars from Your Biggest Fan in matching inks.  I diecut the toucan and colored his beak in the challenge colors as well, then cut balloons from DSP in matching colors.  The sentiment is from Charming Sentiments. It all went on a Basic White card that had  been embossed with the Stitched with Whimsy die:

More Charming Sentiments, stamped in Tahitian Tide on the inside!

And here is little Cole, who made his appearance early last week, born at home, along with mommy Paige and daddy Drew!!!

I think he might look a wee bit like his cousin Sawyer!!  We'll have to see as he gets older!  Thanks for visiting today...enjoy it and be blessed!

SSC286 Sending Hugs

Happy Monday, peeps! Hope you had a good weekend.  Ours was full of wonderful weather!!  Just delightful! I have another card using Rings of Love designer paper from the upcoming SAB catalog...sorry, I just can't stop using it! I really like the fall colors in this design!  Here we go:

And I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

I layered a panel of the DSP with a couple of Poppy Parade Scalloped Contour borders and some Crushed Curry plaid DSP.  Unfortunately, I don't have any current "leafy" stamps, so I stamped one of the images from Forever Fern and a sentiment from Eden's Garden on my cut-down Tailor Made Tag and added some Real Red Linen Braid trim:

Everything was layered on a Crumb Cake card base that was embossed with the Timber embossing folder.  Love these papers!!  Thanks for popping in today!

Definitely not fall-like...a bit of ice cream after a day at the pool and some sunburned cheeks!  Good thing Mommy had some aloe!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP597 Sketch from Joanne

Happy Sunday, everyone!  It's time for a new Paper Players challenge with Joanne as our hostess!  She has a fun sketch for us!  Don't you just love sketches?  I know I do! Here we go:

As I said a few posts ago, I just got this SAB Designer Series Paper called Rings of Love.  Check out this lovely pattern:

I did NOT want to cover up any of that prettiness, so for my horizontal panel, I created a "window" from Sweet Sorbet cardstock, using a Stitched Rectangle to cut out the inside twice .  Behind it, I added some vellum, then stamped a sentiment from Celebrate Sunflowers and fussy-cut it out:

I also fussy-cut a few little designs from the DSP to tuck around the sentiment, along with some matte dots (which are a bit hard to see!).  I had an extra cut-out left over, so I adhered that to the inside:

I am having so much fun with these papers!  I need a couple of thank you cards for some customers, so I think I'll make another one!  And I hope you'll make a card with our sketch too!  Check out what the DT created over at the Paper Players blog, then share yours with us too!

After a cloudy start, we managed to get a pretty nice afternoon for our time at the pool on Friday!  Here's Cassidy with her friend Trevor (hard to get a good shot--they never stop swimming!):

And each one of them, hurtling down the slide:

The water was "refreshing", to say the least!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS541 Home Run

Happy Friday, everyone!  Phew, glad to see the weekend here!  My SIL asked me to make a graduation card for her baseball-playing nephew and I was thrilled to be able to use up some of the last bits of my Hey Sports Fan DSP! I used the FMS sketch:

And here we go:

His school colors are blue and gold, so that big gold starburst was a great start for the background.  I added a starry panel flanked by a couple of diecut strips to mimic the stitching on a baseball, then added the center panel along with the "home run" ticket and sentiment banner:

And just for fun, I stamped and fussy-cut some baseball images from an old set called Have a Ball, along with some sentiments from Charming Sentiments:

Hope he likes it!  And Cassidy happened to use this set last week when she made a card for her basketball-loving friend's 12th birthday:

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC Tis the Season

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Hope your week is going well so far.  We've had some clouds and rain here but I don't mind since the beginning of the week was so lovely!  I decided to do some Christmas card stamping, using some of the new DSP that will be coming on July 1; it's called Lights Aglow...so fun and pretty!  I used the Atlantic Hearts Sketch:

and pulled out an older SU stamp called Peaceful Pines that just seemed to coordinate with this fun pattern!  Here we go:

Aren't those little dots cute?  I added some gold strips to the sides of the DSP because there are actually little gold dots on the DSP too!  I diecut a tree from Evening Evergreen and backed it with some gold foil, then added a Cherry Cobbler glimmer paper star and horizontal panel:

This cute little sentiment was included in the set, so I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler and diecut it with Stylish Shapes; the label on the DSP package says the DSP is Very Vanilla, but I think next time I'll stick with Basic White!  My final addition were a few sequins from my stash!

I actually made two cards....my next card has very little stamping, but uses some gorgeous vintage papers from Simple Stories:

I originally tried to make this fit the Atlantic Hearts sketch but it just wasn't working!  The side panels are all actually one piece, part of the paper; I just trimmed Santa a bit to fit the front of my card.  I added a Scrapbook.com sentiment in Old Oliive on top of some burlap trim to add to the vintage feel:

And a wee bit of stamping on the inside too:

And since the Jingle Belles want to see cards with "The Man with the Bag", I am entering it there, as well as 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, which wants a vintage Christmas!

So happy you stopped in today! We've been so busy I haven't had time to take any pictures, but hopefully I'll get some tomorrow....it's pool day again!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TCC178 Vintage Shells

Hi stampers!  Happy Wednesday!  Today we have a beautiful new Card Concept challenge, just in time for summer stamping!  Here's the pretty prompt:
For my "clean and layered" card, I decided to pull out a vintage-style 100 Proof Press stamp and use it, along with the colors in the palette, to make a pretty seashell-inspired card:

The card is pretty simple; the shells are stamped in Pool Party on Basic White cardstock, and I ripped the edges for a rustic look.  I ripped some Balmy Blue cardstock to create a mat, then put it on a Crumb Cake card base on which I stamped some "woodgrain" from the retired Gorgeous Grunge:

I added some speckles from Friends are Like Seashells, some thick baker's twine, and a sentiment from Friends are Like Seashells on the inside, since I just couldn't find a place that I like for it on the front!

I have a special friend whose birthday is in August and she loves the beach, so I'll probably save this one for her!

The design team has come up with some gorgeous creations using our inspiration photo....I hope you'll play along with us at share your "concept" as well at The Card Concept!  This will be our last challenge until fall, so enjoy your summer season and thanks for popping in!

RRCB185 Christmas Circles

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Jane and her team over at Retro Rubber have a new challenge for you, check it out:

Remember, you must use stamps that are at least a year old and tell us their approximate age!  Although there is a psychedelic feel to Jane's prompt, I went in a totally different direction:

I found an older Close to My Heart stamp set....it's at least three or four years old, called Whimsical Holiday....and stamped some of the images on some Basic White cardstock and used the Stylish Shapes dies to cut them out.  I've got a rhinestone-embellished snowflake:

An adorable little snowman:

And a little calendar reminder!  I also stamped and diecut some smaller snowflakes, and everything went on a polka-dotted DSP from You're A Peach!  Simple and easy, all in Balmy Blue.

I added a simple "Merry Christmas" to the inside, and it was done!  Lots and lots of circles for Christmas!  Now, what will you create for our "circular" challenge?  Can't wait to see what you create! Share it with us at the Retro Rubber blog!

Back to the blueberry muffins!  Without my help, Cassidy made her lemon glaze and drizzled it on her finished muffins:

She made Grampy close his eyes and brought him into the kitchen, where she presented him with ONE muffin....his response was "Oooooh", and he promptly ate it up!

Thanks for popping in today---enjoy it and be blessed!
