AYSI252 Dapper Dad's Day

Hi stampers!  Yay, it's Friday and the start of the weekend!  It's also the start of a new As You See It challenge with a masculine theme:

I saw a card recently (you can see it here) that had an interesting engineering facet to it and I wanted to try it out!  Here's what it looks like from the top....four panels that intersect, yet fold flat to create a standard-sized card:

I created mine a bit differently than she did; I had the basic idea in my head but needed some assistance from my brother the engineer!  He gave me the final push, I adapted the sizes to fit a standard envelope, and here we go!  Each panel was covered with some DSPs, and on the slightly larger panels I added some embellishments and stamping!

Here are some closeups:

The papers are all from the Original 6x6" pad by Authentique; the stamped images are from Guy Greetings, and I used various dies and some copper metallic cardstock from last year's holiday catalog too!  Since neither John nor I have any dads left, I'll have to see to whom I will send it!  Maybe my brother, LOL!  Hopefully, I'll make another one in this style and maybe post a tutorial!  And since this has lots of layers, I am entering it in the Always Fun Challenge too!

I hope you'll find some inspiration to create a masculine card this week...they're always a challenge for us stampers, aren't they?  Be sure to check out the As You See It blog to see what the DT created, then share yours with us too!  Thanks for popping by!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Two Cards, Three Challenges

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Hope you have some family plans set up this weekend....I am looking forward to ours, I know!  I needed to make a Father's Day card for Wayne, so I went searching for some challenges and came up with a sketch challenge from Inspire.Create and a color challenge from CAS Colours and Sketches (I hope it's CAS enough!):

I had gotten this Clearly Whimsy Ocean Journey set a long time ago and I don't think I've gotten it inky once!

I stamped the images in Night of Navy, doing a little paper piecing for the boat (upside down anchors---hopefully he won't notice!), adding some trim from the Playful Pets combo along with a few diecut stars:

Both sentiments, inside and out, were from different past Paper Pumpkin kits, both diecut with Stitched Rectangle dies:

My second card is for the Color My Heart Dare challenge, which is monochromatic yellow:

I already had made this card but hadn't posted it, so it was perfect.  I think this is my favorite paper from the Flowers for All Seasons DSP pack:

I just layered a panel of Bumblebee, diecut with a Nested Layers die, over top of the DSP and mounted it on a Whisper White card.  The sentiment is from Here's a Card, stamped also in Bumblebee.  Simple but oh, so pretty!  I added a few Gold Gilded gems for fun:

And Cassidy made a card for her daddy (she already had one for Wayne), and as you know, she has her own style:

Rocking the Stamparatus:

Got all her images and sentiment stamped in black on Merry Merlot (she really likes those dark colors!):

And I was quite impressed with what she did on the inside, and it was all her idea!  She die cut "DADDY", then formed an acrostic for each letter!  And of course, added some hand-drawn hearts as well!  I hope Daddy appreciates it!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!

RRCB124 Tic Tac Toe

Hey everyone!  It's time for another Retro Rubber Challenge...this week it's tic-tac-toe time!  Check out the grid:

No photo description available.

I chose to use the top row of metallics, mode of transport and patterned paper!  Now, the mode of transport is a bit tongue-in-cheek....but I thought a tricycle would be a fun image on a card for a little boy who never grew up!  So here we go:

My tricycle image, along with the sentiments next to it are from an Artistic Outpost set called Playtime (not sure of the date...maybe 2010?), and it was stamped in Night of Navy on some Authentique denim-look paper:

I also used images from Gorgeous Grunge (2013) to give it a bit more "vintage" look, and the sentiment is from Suite Sentiments (2017); I love how it goes along with the playful theme:

I added some metal embellishments as well, and then the inside features the old faithful, Guy Greetings (2015):

The sketch I used is the CAS(E) This Sketch, but I am afraid it's a bit too busy to be considered clean and simple, but here it is anyway:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

IB33 Sail On and a Giveaway!

Hi everyone!  Thursday is here...and time for another Inspired By challenge!  Laurel always has the nicest inspiration photos for her challenges!  Here's my take on today's:

And here's her prompt:

(I wish I had thought to sneak in a pretty little starfish like the one in the photo!)  I stamped my sentiment on a stitched tag and added a couple little enamel dots, and my anchor is from the retired Guy Greetings set; the DSP is some retired SU from many years back, and the embossing is the Cable Knit EF; I colored the anchor in with my blends:

It's hard to see, but I also added a piece of Corduroy ribbon in Night of Navy along the edges of the white panel.  I just love the effect it gives!  And here's the inside:

Both sentiments, outside and in, are from a set by Clearly Whimsy, called Ocean Journeys Sentiments.  I think this card would be great for a graduate, someone who is getting a new job or moving to a new home!  I don't have anyone that fits that bill right now, so if you would like to receive this card so YOU can send it to someone, just leave me a comment along with a valid email!  I'll pick a winner on Sunday, August 19 and if your name is chosen, it will be winging its way to you soon!

I hope you'll be inspired by our nautical theme this week....so get creative and share your masterpieces with us over at Inspired By!  Can't wait to see them!

Just a few shots from Cassidy's karate classes!  Here she is intently listening to Master Fisher:

Delivering a kick...maybe a round house?  I have no idea!

And sometimes, just for fun (and to learn teamwork, how to follow directions and good old-fashioned exercise), they play games....here, Cassidy is the "zombie dog" (you KNOW they love that), and they have to run around on all fours and tag others, who then also become zombie dogs!  It's pretty funny!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CAS is All I Can Do

Happy Friday, peeps!  Yay, the weekend at last and maybe some sunny weather!  My mojo has taken a vacation and all I can seem to come up with lately are CAS cards...not that that's bad, but I just can't seem to get into making more complex creations!  SO, I have two cards today, the first is the card I made for all the men's birthdays at my church for the month of April, and I used the sketch from FMS:

I was sad that Guy Greetings was being retired; it was my go-to masculine set!  I love the images and the font, so I decided to ink it up in some Tranquil Tide ink to coordinate with the True Gentlemen DSP:

It was easy to fussy-cut the antique car:

and since I was using my Stamparatus, I was able to stamp the sentiments fairly quickly with the moveable plate:

I had six to do, and it was a little "wobbly" by the time I did the sixth one, but it still worked fine!  I just had to cut them into strips!

My next card is for the CAS(E) this Sketch sketch:

At church I saw a lady carrying a black polka-dotted tote bag with a strap that I can only describe as Crisp Cantaloupe! It was so cute! Since we don't have that color any longer, I used Peekaboo Peach along with some DSP from the Pick A Pattern line to make a congrats card to a new recruit:

I stamped the horizontal piece with the retiring Brushstrokes background stamp on the diagonal for a little additional interest.  I hope the lighter orange shade doesn't make this look too "Halloween-ish", LOL!  I fussy-cut the flower from Painted Harvest and added a sentiment from Colorful Seasons:

And on the inside, a sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet and another floral image:

Thanks for popping in today!

I don't have any Cassidy pictures today, but I thought I would share a picture of my dad holding his newest great-grandson, Sawyer, on Easter:

He was quite content to sleep in Great-granddaddy's arms!!  And notice the EAGLES green pacifier, LOL!!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP340 On The Go Clean and Simple

Happy Sunday, peeps!  I am the hostess at the Players today, and I have fun clean-and-simple challenge for you:  On the Go!  We want to see a vehicle of some sort on your CAS card...it can be a car, motorcycle, train, bicycle, airplane...just something that "goes"!

Of course, these kinds of images usually bring to mind masculine cards, and I happen to need SIX birthday cards for my church friends this month!  I usually don't do assembly-line cards but I thought it would be fun to use some of the Urban Underground DSP that's in the Occasions catalog to make a my cards.  So here is the first one:

I used the same layout for each card, and I used one sheet of DSP for each card, alternating the patterns from front and back, and using a contrast for the horizontal piece.  I used my MISTI to stamp the car and sentiment from Guy Greetings in Basic Black:

All the cards use the Mojo Monday 492sketch:

It was fun to mix and match the patterns, although the polka-dotted one does sort of look like a pair of pajamas to me, LOL!  These could easily be stepped up with some brads or other sort of embellishment, but since the challenge was CAS, I left them unadorned!  And now I have six cards all made and ready to mail out!

I hope you'll play along with our CAS challenge this week!  I can't wait to see what vehicles everyone uses!  Check out the DT's samples as well at the Paper Players blog!

Cassidy did a few Easter treats for her mommy; she liked the projects I made for my Basket Bunch stamp camp, so we just copied them, using her favorite colors!!!

Enjoy your Easter and be blessed!
