Pastel Cookie Christmas

Happy Tuesday, all! I am steadily working on Christmas cards, how about you?  I was intrigued by the colors of pink, blue and gray in the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge this week, but when I saw the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge, I had an idea!!  Here's their prompts:

I took my inspiration from the little snow village in the lower left; I remembered a fun embossing folder I got last year, so I pulled it out and went to work:

As sometimes happens, the idea in my head doesn't quite transfer to the actual card, but after investing time in it, I just accepted it, LOL!  I embossed a piece of watercolor paper with the Christmas Cookie embossing folder, then lightly gave the raised areas a wash of Pretty in Pink, Balmy Blue and Smoky Slate.  I added a wee little sentiment and some skinny silver ribbon from my stash (which will probably never run out, LOL!), then mounted it on a piece of Pink Pirouette and a gray card from my local stamp store:

I did add some glittery accents and a sentiment on the inside:

Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

Warm Wishes

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I finally got around to making a card with some scraps that had been loitering on my desk since Christmas!  Dana had some really cute wrapping paper and she saved some scraps for me and this little snowman was begging to be put on a Christmas card:

I had the DSP on my desk as well, but the trees were white, and they looked a little stark with my Basic Beige card base, so I brayered on some Crumb Cake ink to give it more of a vintage look.  I embossed a panel with a snowflake embossing folder, then added Mr Snowman with some snowflakes and a sentiment from the retired Winter Wishes:

You can't see it, but the snowflakes have some pretty Wink of Stella on them to make them glitter!  A sentiment from the retired Peaceful Season went on the inside:

I thought this would be appropriate for the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge for February:

Naturally, I chose that sweet little snowman as my inspiration!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC650 Vintage Santa

Happy Monday, peeps!  After a whirlwind weekend, I am ready to hunker down and clean up my craft room---and the rest of my house, LOL! But we had beautiful weather and it was a lovely weekend!

It's time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I saw a cute challenge at Peace on Earth:

And I knew I just had to find a vintage Santa to use for the sketch! So here we go:

I believe this digital image came from the Graphics Fairy, and I printed my Santa on some sturdy computer paper, then fussy-cut him out and mounted him on a stitched square of Basic White cardstock.  I found some fun  candy cane paper to mount it all on, adding a few diecut holly leaves and a heat-embossed sentiment:

This vintage sentiment from Flonzcraft seemed to work with my vintage Santa:

I think this sketch is very versatile and could be used for most any occasion or image!  I hope you'll play along with us at Atlantic Hearts this week!

Cassidy enrolled in Life Sciences class this year as an elective, and she had to take a baby home for the weekend!  This is "Elisha"!  He cries, needs to be fed and have his diaper changed!

Apparently his eyes don't close, however!!!  She said he awakened her three times on Friday night, but only once on Saturday night.  It was interesting watching her take care of him at church on Sunday! He certainly got a lot of attention!  But I think she'll be glad to turn him in on Monday!!!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Sweet Little Altoid Box

Happy Tuesday, peeps! Yesterday I resurrected an Altoids box that had been floating around my craft room after seeing this sweet card by my friend Lisa. I remembered that I had some of those Mintay papers, and like so many of the 6x6 pads I get, there are scrapbooking elements on some of the pages, which I never use. I thought it would be fun to incorporate them into a little vignette within my Altoids box.  The designs are both whimsical and elegant, and you'll see what I mean.  Here's the front:

All the papers and elements are from the Merry Little Christmas line by Mintay.  I used the Iconic Imagery die to cut out the snowflake paper for the front of the tin, then fussy cut the deer and that fierce-looking cardinal from the scrapbooking elements of the pad.  I did add a couple of diecut snowflakes as well.  Sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs, Mini Tag Sentiments.  Here's the back:

This time, I stamped a sentiment from Jolly Christmas by CC Designs and used the Nested Essential dies to cut it out.  And here's the inside; these papers are from the same pad but definitely have a more elegant feel:

I simply trimmed the papers to fit the inside, popping up the one on the right.  The left design is all one paper, the only addition is the sentiment (Tiny Words Christmas, from Simon Says Stamp), stamped on a scrap of the paper in Soft Succulent.  The right design has the flowers fussy-cut and popped up; same set for the sentiment.  Here are some closeups:

I did add a few glimmer paper leaves using the Timeless Arrangements dies and some retired glimmer paper, as well as a big silver wire bow.  A piece of retired Blushing Bride ribbon went around the outside, adhered with some Tear n' Tape:

This was loads of fun to make! I am going to enter this is the Inspire.Create challenge this week, which is "Anything But a Card" as well as the Peace on Earth challenge:

Thank you so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS641 Christmas Joy & Peace

Happy Thursday, peeps! This hot week is winding down!  My sweet friend Sheilah very kindly lent me her Layers of Beauty bundle while she is on vacation, so you'll be seeing a few creations made with it in the future!  Today, I created a Christmas card with it using the sketch from FMS as well as the inspiration photo from Peace on Earth Christmas blog:

I chose the image from the lower right-hand corner, using green and silver as my main colors:

I stamped the outline of the florals in Old Olive and used Soft Seafoam, Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Granny Apple Green for the stenciling, which I admit, I did better on the first couple of cards I made!!  I diecut and fussy-cut the images out, then placed them on a panel that was embossed with the Simon Says Stamp Pepperberry embossing folder.

I also stamped a SSS sentiment in Old Olive on Soft Seafoam cardstock, diecut it out, then layered it on another Seafoam panel on top of some silver glimmer paper:

It seemed appropriate to add some pretty silver sequins too!  And since I messed up the inside sentiment, I stamped it again on a piece of white cardstock and diecut it out to cover up my booboo:

I know none of my stamping friends ever do that, right?!  LOL!  I can add this to my Christmas card stash!

We have been watching the antics of at least two (maybe three) chipmunks that live under our shed.  So far they've not caused any damage but they sure are fun to watch.  They have several hiding spots, one of which is our downspout.  As I was sitting on my porch yesterday, I heard a noise and got my camera ready; they're not too clear, but he's a quick one!  First, you can just see his nose as he scopes out the landscape.  Honestly, he spent two minutes stock still like this:

The coast looked clear, so he began to venture out:

Not sure if he saw me up on the porch or not:

But he thought he should probably run and hide somewhere else:

And off he went!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Christmas Wishes

Happy gray, icky Tuesday, everyone!  I had a hard time getting started today! But I really wanted to do some stamping, so I checked out a few challenges and came up with a Christmas card in sort of non-traditional colors:

The Peace on Earth challenge has some lovely inspiration photos for us, and the Jingle Belles wants to see only cardstock....no DSP!

I took my inspiration from the bottom right inspiration photo of the pink candy canes on the brown package!  I stamped the candy cane from The Stamp Market's Candy Cane Christmas in a combination of Pretty in Pink and Blushing Bride inks, then added a bow, some glittery holly leaves and some a sentiment on a Crumb Cake diecut panel:

The Every Day Details dies are really fun to use but sometimes all those little dots can get stuck in your die, or on your cutting plate, so here's a couple little tips:  Put a layer of waxed paper between your day and your cardstock.  The "chads" are less likely to stick in the die that way! You may still need a piercing tool to poke out a stubborn one here or there.  Then, use a lint roller to remove all the little dots from your cutting plate!  Works like a charm!

And here's the inside:

Very simple and easy!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Christmas Joy in Green

Happy Monday, everyone!  I've been neglecting my Christmas cards lately, and when I saw the Peace On Earth challenge's mood board, I was inspired to make a green one!  Here's their board:

I was inspired by ALL the green greenery...so pretty...as well as the white accents!  So here we go:

My friend Michele convinced me that I needed this W+9 Bells and Bows set; it's a little time-consuming to stamp all the layers, but the results are really detailed and pretty!  I stamped and diecut everything out, added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment, then mounted them all on some retired SU DSP and an embossed layer to create a 4 1/4" square card base.

I loosely used the sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (my layers are not quite the same, but I followed the stripes in the paper):

Another to add to my stash!  Thanks for popping in today!

So yesterday was a refreshing change from the rain on Saturday...sunny and in the 60s!  I was cleaning up the patio and I spied this wee little thing:

It was only about 3" high!  I was so surprised....my daffodils are always very late to bloom compared to my neighbors', so I was thrilled to see this cheerful little guy popping up!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Letter To Santa

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I have a cute little card today; it uses the sketch from Inspire.Create and a theme from Peace On Earth Christmas Challenge:

There is lots of inspiration in the photo...I love all the red and white!  But I remembered that there is a little mailbox in the Stamped With Love set that I don't think I used but once, so I paired it with some One Horse Sleigh DSP and came up with this:

I heat embossed the mailbox in white on Sweet Sorbet and added some shading. I diecut some foliage from the Magic Meadow dies and colored them with blends to tuck behind it.  I added a Basic Borders diecut border from Shaded Spruce and embossed the top layer with the Wintery embossing folder:

The sentiment is from a retired set called Oh What Fun (I cut apart the original sentiment and added the "to"), diecut it with the Stylish Shapes dies and tucked it under a silver-edged bow.  The final embellishments were a few rhinestones at the top!

I had an extra sprig of greenery, so I added it to the inside along with a Brightest Glow sentiment:

I love the cheerfulness of this!  And I just realized this fits the criteria at As You See It:

Thanks for visiting today!

A couple of Eagles fans, just chillin'!  And they won!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Sing praise to the Lord, all his faithful people!  Remember what the Holy One has done, and give him thanks! His anger lasts only a moment, his goodness for a lifetime.  Tears may flow in the night, but joy comes in the morning.  Psalm 30:4-5
