CAS Christmas Santa's Sleigh

Happy Tuesday! It's hard to think about Christmas when the temps are in the 90s, LOL!  But Christmas it is! The CAS Christmas challenge this month is Santa's Sleigh:

I remembered I had an older CTMH set with a sleigh in it; probably has never been inked up!  I am not sure my final outcome would really be considered CAS enough, but I am entering it anyway!!  Here we go:

I stamped the image in Basic Gray ink on a piece of StudioLight Sending Joy paper, then colored it in with Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate inks:

I stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon, added a little sparkly snowflake and some Lost Lagoon cording, then stamped the inside:

Really quick and easy; I was happy to use this stamp set as well as these pretty papers!

A few more birthday cards---I may have just one or two more to share!  This pretty floral delight is from my friend Robyn:

I love the vintage look that Fran created:

This bold beauty is from my PP teammate Joanne!

And Wendy used some of those pretty new sunflower papers!  Lovely!

And finally, this stunner from Beth! Unbelieve stenciling and diecutting:

She even foiled the inside:

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Pink Poinsettia

Happy Tuesday, all! I have a Christmas card for you today, it fulfillls three challenges:  CAS on Sunday wants flowers; Sunday Stamps has a sketch; and 52 Christmas Card Throwdown wants stenciling:

I will admit that there is only a wee bit of stenciling on my card, but it IS there!  So here we go:

I wanted to use a poinsettia on my card, but in a non-traditional color! I already had this Blushing Bride scalloped piece diecut in my stash, so I pulled out some Barely Blush cardstock, which coordinates with it nicely, and diecut some poinsettia petals, along with the leaves (Soft Sea Foam) and a center (Lemon Lolly).  I sponged the edges and crimped the petals (remember your CRIMPER?) before assembling on to the scalloped piece, on which I stenciled a few polka dots with an Echo Park stencil and a blending brush:

My outside sentiment was from Simon Says Stamp, stamped and diecut into a little banner tag:

And the inside sentiment is from Taylored Expressions.  I don't use Very Vanilla too often, so it was a nice change from the white!

Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Let It Snow

Happy Wednesday, all!  The CAS Colours and Sketch challenge has an interesting color palette this week:

and the CAS Christmas challenge is looking for snowmen:

How about a little row of snowmen?  I pulled out a really old SU set called The More the Merrier, stamped it and colored it a wee bit and here we go:

I used the challenge colors to color in the snowmen, mounted the panel on a scalloped panel of Petal Pink and then mounted it all on an snowflake-embossed panel of Basic White.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's In Stitches: Christmas:

The inside sentiment came from the same Clearly Besotted set:

It was fun getting this older stamp inky...but I think I might add some glitter for snow--REAL glitter, not just the Wink of Stella kind, LOL!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

"Seek good, not evil,

    that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is.

Hate evil, love good;
    maintain justice in the courts.
Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy
on the remnant of Joseph."  Amos 5:14-15a

52CCT26 Merry Christmas

Happy Tuesday, all!  My card today features an unusual color palette, coming from the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge:

I really had to put on my thinking cap for this one!  I recently got some new Unity stamps called Winter Foliage, so I did some creative stamping and fussy-cutting and came up with this simple card:

I cut and embossed a panel of Basic White, using a Taylored Expressions Cross-Stitch die, then stamped my foliage in Perfect Pine at the top, adding a sentiment from SU's retired Seasonal Tags in the same color.  On a scrap piece of white, I stamped the foliage again in Crisp Cantaloupe and fussy-cut it out, gluing it over the first image.  Finally, stamped the pine cone on a scrap of Kraft in Pecan Pie and added it:

I added a few peach-colored sequins just to jazz it up a bit, then added a Crisp Cantaloupe mat and some piney paper from an old Kaiser Craft pad called Home for Christmas.  It all went on a Perfect Pine card.  Unusual, but it's good to get out of our comfort zone occasionally, right?  Thanks so much for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

"To whom can the holy God be compared?  Is there anyone else like him?  Look up at the sky!  Who created the stars you see?  The one who leads them out like an army, he knows how many there are and calls each one by name!  His power is so great - not one of them is ever missing!"  Isaiah 40:25-26

CASC&S589 & CKC112 Celebrate

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Can you handle another Christmas card?  I just got the new Stitched Stocking Bundle, and there are some fun stitched elements in there, one of which is a present!  So when I saw the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge, along with the Christmas Kickstart challenge, I knew I could put that little gift to good use!

So here we go:

Since this is a CAS challenge, I just opted for a plain Peaceful Pine gift, although I did cut two more panels, one red and one white, to give the ribbon a chance to stand out a little more!  I added some diecut starts from Give It A Whirl, some red gingham ribbon, and it was all mounted on a Tim Holtz December Calendar embossing folder.

A really old Purple Onion sentiment was stamped in Real Red, diecut and backed with a Stylish Shapes banner die; I added the third star from the Give It A Whirl batch!

The inside uses a lovely sentiment from that Stitched Stocking bundle:

I will be taking a few days off from blogging as I am having family visiting for a few days--gotta stock up on homemade iced tea and chocolate chip cookies so they have something to munch on, LOL!  But I'll be back for our Paper Players challenge on Sunday!I appreciate your stopping by!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Warm Wishes

Happy Tuesday, peeps! Another Christmas card today; it uses the sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown as well as the theme of "Stars or Stripes" (I used both!) from the Jingle Belles!

This was a quick and easy card for sure!  Here we go:

My printed papers are from My Mind's Eye, called Oh What Fun!, and the sentiment is from Close to My Heart's Love With All The Trimmings.  My stars are diecut from Basic White, Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow and embellished with some sequins.  I couldn't help but add a wee tiny star sequin to the sentiment too:

Here's the inside....using sentiments from the same set!

Slowly but surely adding to my Christmas stash!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI376 My Favorite Embossing Folder

Happy Friday, peeps! Time for a new As You See It Challenge!  This one is a fill-in-the-blank:

Hah!  First of all, there is NO WAY I could pick out just ONE favorite embossing folder! I checked my Excel spreadsheet and I have about 135 embossing folders!!  I know---a wee bit embarassing, but I have been "collecting" them for over 20 years!!  So I just picked out one that I got recently and it's so pretty for Christmas cards!  So here we go:

This folder is called Starry Snowfall, and it's from Spellbinders.  Some of the newer EFs are really large, which is great for classes because I can emboss a full half-sheet of cardstock at once, so it saves me a lot of time!  I added a sweet little image from Unity's Holly Jolly Holiday inside a cutout of the embossed piece.  I was not getting the look I was happy with by just stamping the image on Crumb Cake cardstock, so I tried heat embossing it and adding some shading and that was much better:

I added a little twine bow, then a sentiment from SU's retired Wishing You Joy on the inside, since I already had it on my desk from yesterday, along with some little extras from Unity's Winter Foliage:

I am also entering this at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where they are looking for embossing folders as well!

I do think embossing folders are an amazing addition to one's crafting supplies! Such an easy way to add impressive texture and interest to your creations!  Whenever I show a card to my brother (the engineer), he is always amazed by embossing and diecutting!  So I hope you'll pull out your favorite embossing folder, (even if you can't REALLY decide on a favorite), and show us what you can do with it!  Check out what the other DT members at As You See It did too!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS 743 Sending You Cheer

Happy Thursday, peeps! I am making Christmas cards to keep me cool, LOL!  The FMS sketch was a challenging, but interesting one:

SO many choices for this sketch! I did a little sorting and purging yesterday in my craft room and found these papers from last Christmas and I had some scraps that I thought would work!  Here we go:

All the papers are from the Christmas Tags & More Mix & Match package; I added an embossed background, and I trimmed off the ornament holder, punched out the ornament, then glued it on again and added a twine bow:

I like how the embossing mimics the mistletoe berries!!!  Unintentional, but it works!  Another card for my stash!  Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP792 Sketch From Joanne

Hello, stamping friends! Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and Joanne has a lovely sketch for us:

I just got SU's new Gingham Gallery (available July 1) and I couldn't wait to play with it--I do love my gingham! Since I've played with most every In Color but Peaceful Pine, I thought it was time to bring this pretty hue to the forefront with a fun, whimsical Christmas card using Joanne's sketch.  Here we go:

This little Unity reindeer is so cute, he looks perfectly okay just stamped in one color!  Of course, I had to add a little punch of color with his red nose:

and added a red glimmer star and a little red embellishment on the sentiment tag:

The above sentiment is from Colorado Craft, with another little Unity sentiment for the inside:

I am also entering this at the Little Red Wagon challenge, where they're looking for "Feather, Fur or Fin"!  Definitely fur here on my reindeer!

I love the layers in this sketch and I hope you do too!  Show us how you'll be using this sketch and share it over at the Paper Players blog! Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

52CCT#26 Let It Snow!

Happy Saturday, peeps! I am honored to be a guest designer at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week, which is a color challenge!  It is a bit of a challenge for sure--non traditional colors!  Check it out:

So here we go:

My glimmer paper snowflakes are mounted on three "stitched" panels from Simon Says Stamp, stamped in Pretty in Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Cool Caribbean inks and diecut with the matching dies.  I added some matching sequins to each center.  The sentiment is a older one from Waltzingmouse Stamps, and everything is mounted on an embossed snowflake mat:

Another Waltzingmouse sentiment on the inside:

I know this is an unusual color for a Christmas card, but I like it!  I hope you can find a creative use for these colors as well!  Share your creation at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge so we can all enjoy it!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
