Merry and Bright Christmas

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I have a Christmas card for you today---a rather unusually-colored Christmas card!  I was intrigued by the colors in the Hand Stamped Sentiment challenge:

and the Global Design Project had a "CASE the Designer" challenge; I chose to replicate the sketch:

I pulled out a set I haven't used in a while, Hearts Come Home, and went to work:

The houses were stamped in Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo; the sentiment in Call Me Clover, then diecut with a Chalk Talk die.  I added some diecut trees (Hometown Greetings) and layered it on a Lovely Lipstick  DSP diecut circle:

Finally, I stamped another sentiment in Flirty Flamingo and mounted everything on a mat of Call Me Clover DSP and added a little ribbon trim!  Definitely NOT traditional Christmas colors with that Flirty Flamingo in there, but it definitely gets one's attention!  And just for fun, I am entering this at Just Us Girls' challenge of  "houses"!

Thanks for popping in today!

Yesterday was a lovely day and I had some time to visit Longwood Gardens:

The lily ponds have been drained for the winter, but my brother says they are getting ready to fill them and add the lilies; the amphibians are ready!  We saw both frogs and toads!

It's been a long winter and it was a delight to see all the flowers!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

We Three Stars

Happy Monday, peeps!  And happy April!  I have another quick and easy card today!  I need to bulk up my Christmas card stash, and the Jingle Belles challenge this week is "We Three Kings"...and I can never pass up things in threes!  So here we go:

I chose a trio of Christmas prints from Authentique's Nostalgia collection, and stamped three country stars in Crumb Cake, then embellished them with some enamel dots:

A sentiment from the same set (Market Street Stamps' Country Christmas, sadly retired) was stamped in Real Red and diecut with a Rectangle Stitched die:

It was all mounted on a Real Red card base....easy and cute!  Thanks for popping in today!

Another shot from last weekend:

Eden couldn't wait to jump in the stream.....

but it was a wee bit colder than she expected....she made a quick retreat!  Brrrr!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Retro Rubber 106

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  It's time for another Retro Rubber Challenge....check it out:

Image may contain: text

I had a lot of ideas floating in my head, but while looking through my stash of DSP, I found this striped Christmas paper and went from there!  I am using a Freshly Made Sketches sketch, although it is too late to submit it, I still liked it!  So here we go:

I am really behind on my Christmas cards this year, so I pulled out a set from 1999 called Holiday Sampler!!  It's along the same lines as Jolly Bingo Bits, and I love these little images!  I stamped them in Garden Green and Real Red, then mounted them on some cardstock and Real Red Glimmer paper scallops:

I also embossed my Very Vanilla base with the Stripes embossing folder, to kick up the "stripes" part a notch!  A quick and easy way to add some interest to a simple card!

We hope you'll play along with our stripe challenge...just make sure you give some of those older stamps some love...they have to be at least a year old, and you must tell us their approximate age!  At twenty years old, these stamps are still going strong!!  Thanks for popping in today!

Saturday night, Dana let Eden out for a moment, and she took off running after seeing two deer in the yard.  Despite calling her til she had no voice left, after almost four hours, Dana said she still wasn't home!  She took the advice of a couple of people and put her coat out on the deck and within half an hour, Eden was home!  Dogs must have an amazing sense of smell!!  She was exhausted, and so was Dana!  She said "I don't normally let her lick me, but I didn't care!"  A happy ending!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FF0028 Glimmer Christmas

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have a very quick (and late) post today; this card is so simple, it's almost embarrassing!  The Festive Friday challenge for this go-round is Mardi Gras or Glimmer Paper, and since my Christmas card stock is very low, I chose glimmer paper!

So here we go:

I already had a Blueberry Bushel card front cut and scored, so I used that as my base; I cut some Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper with one of the Hometown Greetings Edgelit dies and adhered it to the front (hard to see the sparkle!!):

Then, I attempted something new...I tried to "color" my glimmer paper "Merry" (cut from Merry Christmas Thinlets) with Blueberry Bushel ink and a brayer....it worked a little bit, but mostly got glitter on my ink pad, LOL!  Did you know that a sticky lint brush from the Dollar Store works great to get glitter off most anything?  It's a staple in my craft room!  Anyway, I had already adhered this piece of glimmer paper to an adhesive sheet, so it was very easy to adhere it to my card!  I added a sentiment from Merry Christmas to All, diecut with a Rectangle Stitched die, some sequins, and it was done!

I am also adding this to the Jingle Belles' All That Glitters challenge!!

I am not sure what you call these little magnetized building things, but they're sure fun to play with!

According to Cassidy, this is a man looking through a telescope...yep, I can see that!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!  And be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

AYSI194 When I Think Simple

Happy Friday, everyone!  Woohoo, the weekend is upon us!  It's also time for another As You See It challenge, one that's near and dear to my heart....fill in this blank:

No photo description available.

My fill-in is:  stamp, ink and one layer of paper!  That's sometimes a challenge, as I love layers and DSP!  But I have been neglecting my Christmas cards this year, so I thought I would make a simple one-layer card for the holidays, and here we go:

I chose one of SU's notecards on which to stamp my little birds from Flora and Fauna, because it is heavy, thick cardstock and I knew my watercoloring would not bleed through!  I used Stazon black and simple watercolored each little bird with some ink and an aquapainter:

The sentiment is stamped in Real Red, inside and out.  It's really hard to resist adding some doodads, but I didn't succumb!

And since my sentiment is "peace", I am entering this in the CAS Christmas Card Challenge, where their challenge is Peace!

So what is your fill-in-the-blank when you think "simple"?  Check out the As You See It blog to see what the others created, and share your simple creation with us too!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Blue Christmas Greetings

Happy Wednesday, all!  I am squeaking this card in by the skin of my teeth! I haven't made many Christmas cards yet this year, and here it is, the end of January!  My card today uses three challenges:  Little Red Wagon's Winter Blues; Jingle Belles' Look What Santa Brought Me, and the sketch from Fab Friday:

My card is fairly clean and simple; my new set is from Paper Smooches, and it's called All Yule Need; I stamped it in Blueberry Bushel on a piece of Authentique paper from the Alpine collection, then fussy-cut it and added a Soft Sky mat.  The sentiment is from the same set, same papers, as is the darker blue panel:

For fun, I added a couple of little glimmer stars from my scrap folder, both punched with retired SU star punches:

Everything went on a Soft Sky card base, and I stamped a simple sentiment on the inside, and I have another card to add to my holiday stash!

This morning, the sky was bright blue, sunny and cold!  At 2pm, this afternoon, this is what it looked like:

A quick little snow squall blew through and lasted about 15 minutes....but it's even colder now than it was before!!  Poor little birds, I need to refill their feeder and suets!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP425 Snowy Day

Happy Sunday, peeps! Hope you're staying safe and warm this weekend!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge, and it is a CLEAN AND SIMPLE one!  Be sure to check out the guidelines at the Paper Players' blog!  Claire is our hostess this week and here is her prompt:

I chose to go more with the "snow" than the woods, using a Darice embossing folder and a cute little redbird from Flora and Fauna:

I am also using the color palette from CAS Colours and Sketches:

I stamped the bird in Memento black, coloring it with some Blends, then diecut it and matted it with a Balmy Blue scallop:

I added a Crumb Cake branch and colored it with some Wink of Stella, then a little "joy" from another Flora and Fauna set.  I mounted it all on the embossed panel and then on a Crumb Cake card.  Sweet, clean and simple!  I hope you play along with us!  Check out what the other designers created:

And speaking of snow, a little snowy fun with the wee little bit we got last week.  It wasn't much, but it was very cold and very slippery!!

A snow angel:

The sun is getting lower and the shadows longer:

And we even got Grampy to go down a few times!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
