PP557 By the Numbers

Hi there, everyone! I am back from my bloggy vacation and ready to host the Paper Players challenge for this week!  Here's what we've got for you:

I couldn't wait to use some of these papers from Echo Park's This & That line, along with a vintage background stamp featuring old rulers!  So here we go:

I recently got a Tim Holtz alphabet die and cut the words from some Early Espresso cardstock, then added the birthday sentiment in Soft Suede:

I did a lot of sponging to give it a vintage look, then added some copper brads and circle diecuts along with a stitched diagonal border of Bumblebee cardstock for some interest:

I just think these papers are so cool!  Everything went on a Crumb Cake card base, and it's ready to go in the mail for my next masculine birthday!  I hope you'll play along with us at the Paper Players!  The design team made some very cool creations and used numbers in a lot of different ways!  Go check them out at the PP blog!  Thanks for popping in today!

On a personal note, I have been praying for all those affected by the recent hurricane.  We were on vacation at the Delaware seashore and were spared any damage, just lots of wind and rain.  Here at home in southeast PA, there were many not so lucky!  A tornado hit a town just a few miles away, and there are roads that are totally washed away, including a covered bridge.  Cassidy sent me these pictures she took with her new phone:

Wayne & Dana walking across a road totally decimated:

Parts of the covered bridge, washed downstream:

Uprooted trees lining the Big Elk Creek (and the tree Wayne is standing on is about 5 feet ABOVE the water!!!):

There are many small rivers and creeks in our area and they just couldn't handle that much rain, so there were lots of houses and businesses flooded as well.  And of course, there are other areas that are much worse.  Hope you are safe & sound wherever you are!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

WB from vacation and thank goodness you were safe in DE! It had to have been frightening with tornado warnings all day Thursday! What a great birthday card by the numbers! It's perfect for an accountant, carpenter, or even a seamstress or taylor! Genius idea! TFS the pictures - it's hard to imagine mother nature's wrath until you see photos like the ones you shared! Your SIL is fearless apparently LOL

I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation but so sad to come back to see the hurricane damage so close to home. So scary! Keeping those affected in my prayers for sure. This was a really fun challenge and I love your card. The mix of patterns looks great and I love the vintage-feel. So pretty!

Love your vintage card and those papers are amazing and so perfect for this challenge! I loved it by the way! As for your photos, WOW! So glad you and your family were spared from this terrible storm and it had to be a little bit nerve-wracking to be away when this was happening. So much sadness and devastation. Such a reminder of how lucky we truly are. There are so many suffering across the country! HUGS!

Glad you are safe and I hope that the damaged areas can rebuild quickly. My mother in law said there was so much rain and also spent sometime in their basement that day in case of tornados! As far as your card goes this is absolutely the best use of this paper! I love the multiple ways you used the numbers with the paper and ruler stamp! Very cool vintage look! Have a fun week!
