CAS Thursday
I stamped several cards over the last couple days (and nights), all clean & simple, so I thought I would share them with you. I’ll warn you….these were photographed FAST and furious, so excuse the background! The first one is for today’s Ways To Use It challenge #265 at SCS, which was to put something on the diagonal:
This is an adorable free digi image available at Meljen’s Designs, and I thought it made a fast, cute card. I colored it with my copics, added some borders, buttons and a bow!
The next one is also a digi image from Meljens’s, printed on Kraft paper and colored with copics:
You just can’t get any simpler than that! I have a friend who is moving away next month…..this will be for her! The next one uses a little clear stamp and a scrap from my table:
and here’s a birthday card for the same friend who is moving away:
This image was stamped directly on some BG Indian Summer paper….I wish you could see it better, IRL it is very striking!!! She is a real down-to-earth gal with very simple tastes and worked at a camp on an island in the lake region of upstate NY, so I know she’ll like this!
And another card in the same style. Thanks for looking today! If you have any questions about anything I’ve used here, let me know!

Curtain Call #24
Another card for you this beautiful Wednesday (although LindaL said she is having SNOW tonight!!!), this one was a little quicker to make, using the colors from Stacey’s Curtain Call Color Challenge shown here:
At first I did not think I was going to like this palette, but after seeing Stacey’s card and a few of the others, I thought I would try it out. I needed a thank you for someone who did something nice for me, so this is what I made:
I used some fun PTI samples and the flower & leaf from Best Wishes & More.
You have probably heard the news from Stampin’Up! about their “Color Renovation”…..thirty colors retiring, some In Colors returning, five new In Colors, and some shifting around of the remaining colors and neutrals. We all hate change, don’t we? But we like new stuff, too! As Robin Merriman said, Harvest Gold and Avocado Green appliances in our kitchens are no longer stylish!! (No offense to those who still have their appliances---you’re now considered “retro”!) Anyway, I am keeping an open mind and looking forward to playing with some new colors! If you would like to see more details, just shoot me an email (be sure to leave yours so I can respond) and I’ll fill you in!
- Stamps: Best Wishes & More, Short & Sweet
- Paper: WW, Kraft, PTI samples
- Ink: So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Garden Green
- Acc: Brads, Ret SU ribbon, Small oval punch, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Dimensionals
Color Throwdown #87
Danielle is our hostess this week with this pretty combo:
Very elegant colors, and I went right to work, pulling out some BG paper and a favorite SU set, Friends 24-7:
Well, I pulled out all the stops---BIG bow, stitching, watercolored background, bling, punches, Nesties…you name it! I love the card, just not sure about that watercolored background on the circular panel. I used watercolor paper and stamped the image in Basic Gray, then used reinkers to paint. I then took a wide flat paintbrush and some watered-down ink to brush the background. I finished it by stamping French Script over the whole thing. The sentiment is from PTI; DP is from Basic Gray. Here’s the inside:
And the sketch I used is from Karen Giron’s Sweet Sunday Sketch #63:
Now let’s see what you can create using Danielle’s colors! After creating your project, post it on your blog or an online gallery and link it on the CTD blog with the InLinkz feature so we can see them in all their goodness! And here are the links to the other CTD designers:

Two Sketches
I was lamenting to Robin Merriman this morning that there are so many sketches and challenges, and not enough time! In between my cleaning today, I managed to make two cards using two challenges! I already had the DP and the cards laying on my table, so I just went forward from there. The first one is a new one for me, Unscripted Sketches. Here’s the sketch:
and here’s the card:
The inside says “Happy Birthday”; I was too lazy to retake the bad photo of it! And here’s Mercy’s sketch for this week:
and the card:
I used a various assortment of stamp images, some Nesties, bling, punches and ribbon. Hope you enjoy them!
It is about 90 degrees here today---more like Florida in the spring than Pennsylvania! I am not quite ready to bring out the shorts, but I am considering it!! A side note, also; I have having issues opening anyone’s blog who uses Typepad (among a few others). My techie guy is going to look into it over the weekend, but I was wondering if anyone else was having problems. It is the same with DH’s computer, so I am thinking it is something on the server’s end. Unfortunately, I am not computer-savvy!!! So, forgive me for not commenting if I am a regular visitor, but I can’t get to your blog to comment!
- Stamps: Waltzingmouse, Simon Says Stamp, There She Goes
- Paper: Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Regal Rose, Hostess Prints Pack, misc DP
- Ink: Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Regal Rose
- Acc: Nesties, retired SU Ribbon, Bling, Jumbo Bird Punch, Scallop Trim Punch, Dimensionals
ColourQ27
For today’s ColourQ challenge, Arielle has chosen this sweet little jacket….what little boy wouldn’t have fun with those zippers and colors? So of course, I had to make a “boy” card, too….and with my limited number of “boy” stamps, I had to go to Mr Extreme Guitar again:
I used an assortment of elements and embellishments to give this card lots of motion!! The image was stamped three times on Whisper White without reinking, moving the stamp a bit to the left each time---of course, I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment! I also stamped the Sanded BG stamp over the image to give it some texture. I covered a piece of chipboard with some Thoroughly Modern DP and cut out a frame with some Nesties, then layered my image behind a sheet of vellum cardstock behind the frame. I added some brads and a couple punched embellishments after I stamped the Tangerine Tango card with some circles from Circle Circus. I used the inside part of the frame piece for my inside:
Be sure to check out the other designers’ samples….you can click right on the blinkie on the sidebar, or simply visit the ColourQ blog! Rock on!

Pastel Birthday
Another birthday card for my stash….I used the CAS challenge again for today, although based on the mess on my desk, I would say that it is NOT CAS!!! Although the only stamping is a sentiment…..which is what the challenge was!! Anyway, this is a very pastel card, so it was rather difficult to photograph:
I used some Basic Grey papers, some punched-out flowers strung along a line of rickrack and some sweet little pearls for their centers; the sketch is Taylor’s TESC107:
That’s it for now! Oh, here’s a picture of my sweetie Pumpkin, sitting in the basket on my porch, enjoying the fine weather. I usually have a plant in there!
