Stuck on Stella

I have a busy day cleaning & prepping for my Christmas in October Stamp Camp tonight, so I have only a couple cards to show you--tomorrow I'll have more!  I have been stuck on using my BG Stella Ruby DP.  I have several of these 6x6 Basic Grey pads, and I just find myself hoarding it!  So I am forcing myself to use these beauties.

I knew Sunday that my dear friend's mom was dying....she was in a coma, it was just a matter of time, and last night she went home to be with the Lord.  I had made a card on Sunday evening after I found out my sweet SCS friend Anne Ryan was the Featured Stamper!  I can't show you her card I CASE'd because there is something wrong with the SCS gallery link (maybe I can link it later), but I didn't want to post this until I actually needed it.  I used a piece of textured cardstock that Anne RAK'd me when she realized I didn't have the Swiss Dots CB folder-wasn't that sweet of her?  I wish I had made this card larger, as the panels of the Stella Ruby are hard to see on this size, but they are striking:

I used a sentiment from Papertrey's Mixed Messages and the main image is Fresh Cuts.  I sponged color on the image and accented some of the flowers with a Ruby Red marker.  There is a double layer of a sheer brown organdy ribbon. 

The next card is a very simple thank you for someone who did a nice thing for me:

I stamped this last night while the Phillies were winning the Nat'l League playoffs!   Yahoo!!!  I thought this DP was so vivid that I didn't need much else for fear of being too busy or distracting.  The sentiment is from Pocket Silhouettes, and is mounted on a punchout from the Small Oval punch and the  Designer Label punch, then threaded through with SU's new Regal Rose grosgrain.  The little brown flower is a Felt Fusion Too.  The Pink Pirouette paper is a perfect match for this DP, I think!

Welcome to the Neighborhood

After reading Shawn's post here, I realized that I, too,have new neighbors.....which is a relative thing, since I live in a rural area and technically, they are 1/4 mile away.  But still, they are neighbors, so I made some Banana Pineapple bread to take to them.  Of course you can't have naked bread, so I dressed it up a little and made them a card to go along with it!

I used PTI's Holiday Treats set, along with some Autumn Vine DP and Creamy Caramel & Chocolate Chip cardstock.

I feel like I rushed too much on this card, as I am getting ready to go to work.....I see my squares aren't lined up evenly, my coloring is not the best....hopefully the recipient won't mind!  But I hate to send out something that's not my best!  TFL and have a great day!  Off to work!

Color Throwdown Challenge 15

For this week's challenge, Broni highlights some beautiful fall colors:  So Saffron, Kiwi Kiss, Really Rust & Chocolate Chip.  I can smell autumn in all these colors!

I had been wanting to do a card using Sketch Challenge 194 from a few weeks ago, and I thought this would be a great time!  I found an assortment of DP's, stamped and colored this sweet daisy and vase image from Asela Hopkins' Flowers for Daisy, did a tiny little bit of paper piecing and finished it off with some twill.  I did not put a sentiment on it; I'll put that on when I send the card.  You can't see it in the photo, but I used a sparkly Jelly Roll pen on the water & vase, and in the centers of the flowers.   Hope you like it!

Basic Grey Day

Well, a Basic Grey day is not like a typical gray day!  I seriously needed to sit down and mass produce some simple birthday cards as I was running waaaaay behind on my greetings!  So for my guy cards, I pulled out my Boxer DP, the birthday sentiment from Kitchen Sink's 3-Step Daisy, and some Confetti Cream cardstock and went to work.  I haven't pictured all of my samples here, but you get the idea:

My gals' cards used the same layout, but Lily Kate DP, different cardstock & embellishment:

To get three cards from one sheet of 6x6 Basic Grey paper, I cut a 4" piece from one side and cut it in half so I had two 4"x3" pieces.  I adhered each piece on to a card in the landscape orientation.  The remaining piece I trimmed to a length of 5 1/4" and adhered it to a card in the portrait orientation.  The sentiments used scraps I cut down to fit the sentiment.  The embellishments were punched out & adhered with dimensionals.  Can't get much easier than this!

Of course, her birthday is TODAY!  Nothing like being a tiny little bit late!   Kiwi Kiss is a hard color to photograph! But it is layered on white with Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy Patterns DP from the Level 1 Hostess Pack.    It's going out in the mail today!

Busy Weekend!

Wow, what a busy weekend, and no time for stamping!  My sister flew up from South Carolina for an impromptu visit and normally she spends a lot of time with friends and crashes at our home.  This time we got to spend lots of time together!  I was so glad she came though; the weather was perfect here in PA and it was raining at her house!!  Here is  some of what we did:

• Ran errands and visited friends
• Visited my daughter at her new job & bought flowers (she just took a position as a floral manager at a grocery store)
• Went out to breakfast
• Went to Annapolis MD; she did sightseeing, DH & I went to the Sailboat Show
• Had lunch & shared an ENORMOUS dish of mint chocolate chip ice cream
• Had my dad for dinner
• Had the rest of the family for dessert
• Went yard-sale-ing
• Went for a sailboat ride
• Went to a big dinner at the Italian American club where DH entered his homemade wine in the wine-making contest, and we all ate way too much food

A crazy weekend, but lots of fun.  So the only things I have to share are a couple of wonderful cards I got in the mail one day---not sure which day, it was so crazy!   This one is from Elaine--we have become blog friends across the country!  It is exquisite and I love the sweet sentiment:   "Wherever you are, it is your friends who make your world":
