Happy, happy Saturday, peeps!  A quick post for today—we are going to a 30th anniversary party for friends, and it is a very special party, as our friend Randy suffered a sudden stroke in December, at age 59….scary stuff.  He is on the mend, but still dealing with speech and cognitive issues.  He was a very active guy, so this has been a challenging year for their family! 

I used the Deconstructed Sketch for my card:

and it had a lot of fun elements to it, so I picked a “theme” – polka dots –  and found some more fun MME papers:

I used a bunch of different stamps (email me if you have ????) and had fun putting everything together!  I did a little double tag at the top:

and got to use one of my favorite Bible verses for the inside:

I believe that Randy has gotten as far as he has in his recovery because of the prayers of friends, coworkers and family…..he has been surrounded by love!

Ah, it’s Friday, peeps!  The end of the week…it’s been a long one!  I liked the Seize the Birthday sketch Lesley had this week, so I made two!

I have a plethora of 6x6 pads in a myriad of colors and prints, so I thought I’d better dig into some!  The challenge this week at Little Red Wagon is to use at least three prints on your card—not hard to do for me!  The first one is my favorite, a pretty blue one with a vintage feel:

The little montage is just part of the paper---I trimmed it down, mounted it on a piece of burlap and added some ribbon.  I just love that bird! 

The little sentiment is from A Fitting Occasion; burlap was from my stash.

The next one uses a felt flower I made, and I actually sewed all the panels before adhering my center panel.  I sewed a wee bit on the flower too:

I like this one, but I think the colors are a bit more subdued….maybe it’s that gray that holds it back!  The sentiment on this one is from Papertrey.  All papers are from MME:  Lost & Found 3, Oliver: Lost & Found 2, Blush, and The Sweetest Thing, Honey.

The Kraft Journal Make it Monday

Hey, peeps!  Happy Thursday!  The weekend is almost here!  I got some new goodies a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t wait to use them on a Father’s Day card for my step-FIL!!!

I stamped collage-style on a Crumb Cake card base using Cherry Cobbler, Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake and Pistachio Pudding (see the cactus?), and only added a couple of little embellishments! I popped up the “Route 66” image and did a little 3D banner:

and of course, some stamping on the inside:

My step-FIL lives in a retirement village and his apartment is modestly furnished, but he does have many photos on the walls.  One of his treasured photos shows him when he was just out of high school, standing next to his beloved motorcycle.  Now, I have no idea what make or model it was (DH could tell you, though!), but regardless, I know this card will make him smile!   This qualifies for The Kraft Journal's Make it Monday challenge too, which is "Just for Him".

Since we’re doing a “manly” theme today, I thought I would show you a couple of photos of Cassidy “helping” Grampy in his workshop:

John was with her the whole time, so don’t be concerned that she was going to spray something or hurt herself!  But she was quite intrigued with all the tools!

Dynamic Duos 56

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  After a rocky start to my stamping week (I just could not get the mojo going!) I finally stamped something that I actually loved!  I was excited when I saw the Dynamic Duos colors this weekend:

and while I was “shopping” the My Digital Studio downloads, I came across a fantastic set of background stamps, so I printed one out in Blushing Bride and went to work:

Edited to add:  Sorry, I should have given you the name of the My Digital Studio set:  it is called Bunch of Backgrounds!!!  I have discovered that my printer prints colors much more saturated than they should be, so this is a little off from the actual Blushing Bride color, but it is still lovely!  I added some diecut and punched butterflies as well as some retired pleated ribbon and a little diecut border.  I have a few friends that I need to send “thinking of you” cards, so this is a good start!  I just LOVE this paper!

Last weekend when my college roomies were visiting, I “made” them stamp a card with me!  It wasn’t anything complicated, I used the new Label Love set and some Fan Fair DP….and they LOVED it and each put their own spin on their cards:

 

Merry Monday 66

Happy Monday, peeps!  Did you have a good weekend?  Lesley has an intriguing Merry Monday sketch for us today:

I love the sketch…I am just not sure my interpretation of it is the best!  Anyway, here you go:

I used some Cosmo Cricket papers that had a retro feel to them, pairing them with a Blushing Bride banner and sentiment, because this is also for the Festive Friday challenge, which is a vintage theme:

I had some cool Tim Holtz papers with old Christmas ornaments on them but I couldn’t make them work with the sketch!  So I went for the colors and baubles!!!  I embossed my center banner and added some Copic-colored pearls:

I really love this effect….maybe it’s the greens that don’t match?  Oh well!  The thought behind the card is really what matters, right?  I hope you’ll play along with this sketch and share your creation with us at Lesley’s blog, Always Playing with Paper!  You’ll be glad you added another card to your holiday stash!

Paper Players 149

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Ann is our Paper Players hostess today with a fresh color challenge for you all:

Even though these colors are bright and pretty, I went in a wee bit different direction with my project today, as I wanted to play with some new goodies I just received!  On pages 158-159 of the new catalog are the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes and Accessory Kit….very cool products!  The boxes are made of a sturdy kraft with a heavy acetate sleeve that fits over it like a glove!  You can put cookies, candy, any sort of goodies inside, then decorate it to your heart’s content!  Since Father’s Day is coming up, I thought I would decorate mine in some Epic Day This & That papers and an MDS tag:

Here it is with the sleeve on, “tied” with some Pool Party ribbon:

And here is the tag, created in MDS; the top tag is the one I created, the bottom striped tag is from the Accessory kit; I just layered the two:

Here’s an end view.  And here’s a little tip: I wanted to make sure the designer paper stayed on completely, so that the sleeve would not rip up the edges, so I first adhered a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of my DP, peeled it off and stuck it on to the box before assembling!  What a cool product and no need for messy glue or worrying about the tape not adhering all the way to the edges!

My dad has a love of antiques (and has passed down that love to all of his kids!), so I know he’ll like this “antique” box, especially when I put some of his favorite goodies inside!
