A Country Wedding

This is a non-stamping post, so feel free to bypass it if you aren’t interested in personal stuff!  I apologize for the lack of commenting and posting the last few days!!  My nephew got married Friday night and I’ve had a houseful of family!!!  They’ve all gone home now and we are just waiting for my DD’s baby to arrive so between the excitement of these two events, I thought I’d post some photos of the wedding!  It was held at Landis Valley Farm Museum, which is like a mini-Williamsburg, in the beautiful farm country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Both my nephew and his bride love all things country and they wanted to have their reception in a barn, so that’s what they did!  So here are a few highlights:

And the party went long into the evening!  Everyone had a blast, even though it was a dry wedding because of the location.  My feet were SO tired from dancing!!!

Wedding Barn at night

The cake was actually three different CHEESE CAKES---soooo yummy!!!

And of course, cheese cake is SO smashable!

The table decorations were tree-themed; we all got a jar of homemade apple butter to take home, and these were little “prizes” we could win on the tables as well:

This is the ONLY picture I got with me and my sister Gail and Tim; the cameras were flashing like crazy but I never got one of Tim, Allyson and me together!!   Or any other family members, for that matter!

And one last parting shot:

Thanks for indulging me!  And thanks to Alex Lee, who took most of these photos and is an incredible photographer (plus she has a really nice camera) and a close friend of the couple, as well as a few others who took some photos as well!

SSSC80 Just For Fun Noel

That title is a mouthful, isn’t it?  Due to my crazy weekend with a houseful of family, I got NO stamping done yesterday and missed my Saturday Christmas card.  I saw Just For Fun’s Color Challenge:

Just for Fun Red, Kraft White

and Karin’s Sweet Sunday Sketch:

SSSC80

and combined them to make my 4 1/4” square card:

I know that little bell is going to be a pain when it comes to mailing this card, but it was so CUTE I couldn’t resist adding it here….I’ve had these forever!!  And I feel like the upper left panel needs something but the layout is very clean, so I left it alone!   I love these colors; they are very similar to the ones I chose for the APP challenge today!!!

Thanks for visiting……tomorrow I hope to have a few pictures of my nephew’s wedding….it was held at a farm museum (like a mini-Williamsburg) and the reception was in the barn!!!

And here it is:

I only wish my card looked as delicious as the inspiration photo!  It’s been a bit of a hectic weekend, so I had to make this a real quick card, but I was able to use some new DP from the Woodland Walk series.  Can’t you just see two friends pulling up these chairs and having a chat and a cup of tea?  The chair images are from Have A Seat; the sentiment is from All Holidays.

Be sure to check out the Always Playing with Paper blog to see what the other Paper Players designed this week.  We want YOU to play, too!  Get your designing cap on and create something!!!  We also have a new blog totally dedicated to the Paper Players challenges.  You can find it here!!!  Hope to see you THERE!

Cheery Chipboard

DSCF8699

I never use chipboard….well, never is a strong word.  Hardly ever!  But Ann at Creative Antics led me to a cute blog called wee Memories; they are having a challenge to use chipboard.  AND the Everything But The Kitchen Sink blog is having a button challenge!  And buttons I DO use! It also qualifies for the Limelight Sketch Challenge 53:

So I pulled out some retired SU chipboard, some colorful DP scraps from various makers and some buttons and went to work:

I apologize for the odd photo—my sister is visiting and staying in my spare bedroom, which is also my photography “studio”!! LOL!  So I set up my photo area on the floor of my craft room and was taking this picture practically laying down…..anyway, here it is!  I did some stitching and made a cute little tag; this card is larger than an A2; I had some larger envelopes so I just made it to fit one of them!!  Plus it needed to be bigger to fit those fun flowers!  I used circle punches to punch the centers out of the different DPs…such a great help!  And made for some fun embellishments on the inside:

They are good for covering up smudges that your inky fingers may have made, too…..just sayin’,  in case that might happen to anyone….

Thanks for visiting today!!!

Color Throwdown#104

DSCF8687

I’ll tell you what, my CTD teammates really know how to pick some colors!!  Check out this yummy combo from Broni:

swatch 104

This just screams summer to me!!! I wanted to make something fruity with this, but that was a bit too obvious, so I went with some pretty butterflies from SU’s new set Butterfly Prints:

DSCF8684

Aren’t those little buttons sweet?  And since I loved this combo so much, I made a second card using Every Little Bit….this idea just popped into my head as I was waking up yesterday morning:

DSCF8693

Couldn’t get much simpler!!!  I added a little sparkle to the gumballs, which you can’t see, and added a sentiment from Papertrey!

We would love to have you play along with the Color Throwdown team!  Pop on over to their blog to get all the details and get some mojo going with these colors.  Remember, you just have to use something close if you don’t have the exact colors.  And here are links to all the samples:

CQC44

DSCF8675

It’s Tuesday, and that means it’s ColourQ!  Today Arielle has given us this sweet little dress as our inspiration:

cqc44

I used the Card Patterns Sketch 75:

card patterns sketch75

and pulled out several sets to make my interpretation of this colorful fabric, and I even went “green”:

DSCF8670

What’s green, you ask?  The polka-dotted panel is a piece of cardstock from a Christmas card I received last year.  It was so cute, I saved it and while looking through my stash, I thought it would be fun to use it on this card.  The So Saffron card base was stamped with the Houndstooth backgrounder from CHF; the Pure Poppy panel was stamped with the vine from Vintage Vogue, and the main panel was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Black Detail embossing powder, then colored with Bashful Blue ink.  I distressed the edges, added some sweet little eyelet and a big ole’ flower from SU.  The foam flower is from Hero Arts and the Antique brad is from SU.  The little “hello” is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and it attached with a little library clip.  Lots of interesting things going on here…..now let’s see what you can do with these colors.  Hop on over to the ColourQ blog to see what the other designers have whipped up and play with us too!!!  Can’t wait to see your creations!

  • Stamps:  Friends 24-7, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Vintage Vogue, Houndstooth BG, CHF
  • Paper:  So Saffron, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Pure Poppy, WW, recycled greeting card
  • Ink:  Bashful Blue, Riding Hood Red, Versamark, So Saffron
  • Acc:  Black EP, Eyelet Ribbon (ret SU), Paper flower, felt flower, Antique Brad, Dauber, Word Window Punch, Library clip, dimensionals

CAS Polka Dots

DSCF8683

Today’s CAS challenge at SCS was to use polka dots!  FUN!  I combined it with the Fall to Layout #101:

FTL101

and used some papers I have had in my stash for a while, along with the little Tiny Teacup single stamp from SU:

DSCF8678

The card base is Confetti Cream and the teacup and sentiment from PTI were stamped on VV with Baja Breeze.  This will be for a sweet little Scottish lady who attends our church; her birthday is this week, and she LOVES her tea!!!  TFL today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for the CQC!

  • Paper:  Confetti Cream, VV, Baja Breeze, Misc DP
