Paper Players 294 You Did It!

Happy Mother's Day, peeps!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  Jaydee is our Paper Players hostess today with a perfect spring-filled color challenge for us:

The natural inclination for me would be to do a floral image, but I resisted that urge and created a  shaker graduation card for my niece!

I got my sketch inspiration from this incredibly awesome creation at the Time Out challenge:

I am IN AWE of this card!  So let's see how I used it as my inspiration!  I have a love/hate relationship with shaker cards, but my stitched square Pear Pizzazz diecut (Lil'Inkers) was just begging for some fun shakery stuff, so I created a little window with an acetate sheet and filled it with sequins from my stash.  I added balloons (SU's Balloon Punch) in the challenge colors and adhered them to the outer edges:

I added some gel pen highlights and sequins for fun, then diecut a stitched sunshine (MFT) element and stamped the tiny "You Did It" from last month's Paper Pumpkin set inside:

(Does anyone have any hints for NOT getting little hairy edges on their stamped images when using photopolymer stamps?  Doesn't matter which ink pad I use, I still tend to get them!  Annoying!)  And the inside uses several sentiments from SU's Perfect Pairings, Impression Obsession's Imagine Words, and Papertrey's alphabet:

I also used the retired Confetti set for some extra pizzazz!!!  I hope she likes it!

So now, what will you create with these soft pastel colors?  Can't wait to see!  And wait until you see what the DT created...they're beautiful!

Making milkshakes in a baggie....cream, sugar, vanilla, tossed in a bag of ice and salt!  Of course, you can see my entire messy pantry...sorry!

The smile of approval!

Enjoy your day!

FMS235 Get Well Floral

Happy Saturday, peeps!  My card today uses the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

And because it was wide open to interpretation, I thought I would try my hand at some watercoloring a larger image!  I inked up a Tim Holtz floral image and watercolored it with Tangerine Tango and Tangelo Twist, but it looked a bit lonely, so I overstamped it lightly with the Dictionary background stamp:

Because I still need some get-well cards, I added a sentiment from Fabulous Four.  So far, so good, until...I thought I would add a little shadow by stamping the sentiment again, in Sahara Sand, a little down and to the left:

Hmmm...not too sure of this effect; I think it may make the recipient a wee bit dizzy.  Oh well, it is what it is!  I added a mat and a Tangelo Twist bow and called it a day!

Cassidy got a little science kit and one of the experiments was making invisible ink!  Remember that?  Lemon juice and a candle, right?  Well, we're a little more advanced now, still using lemon juice but I let her use my heat tool...a little safer than holding paper up to a candle, LOL!  She wrote some words with a cotton swab and the lemon juice, then turned on the heat tool:

Oooh, something is beginning to appear!

She was so excited to see the words take shape!  Although it's hard to see here, we wrote "Hello", "Cassidy" and "Mom"!

Our next experiment will be to make a milk shake--YUM!  That's the kind of science I like!

SPDSS52 and FF86 Hello Sunshine

Happy Friday, peeps!  My sweet friend Michelle is the guest designer at Sugar Pea Designs this month, so I had to play with their sketch:

I had a Paper Pumpkin set from a couple of months ago sitting on my desk and I thought it would be fun to make my own "designer paper" with all the little floral elements contained in the set!  I used the colors from Fab Friday:

and here we go:

I stamped the sunburst from Kinda Eclectic with Hello Honey and stamped a sentiment from the same set on top.....

and stamped the bottom panel with Bordering Blooms in Soft Sky for a nice subtle look!  Added a little Soft Sky banner and some fussy-cut flowers, and it was done!

Dana often frequents a nice Mexican restaurant, and since yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, they gave her a free Minion t-shirt:

and here's the little Minion herself:

You can tell how thrilled she was to have her picture taken!

LIM274 and TMS350

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Ah, the middle of the week!  And a gray, soggy week it has been here in PA....I cannot wait to see the sun again!  Anyway, indoors time means stamping time, right?  I realized that I have a serious dearth of get-well cards, and when your church has lots of older members, chances are you will need one!  So I got to work!  My first one uses the Less Is More challenge of using designer paper on your CAS card!  No problem!  I chose some scraps from an Echo Park 6x6 pad called This & That, and paired it with some SU stamps:

The "trees" are from a retired set called Funky Four, stamped in Mint Macaron, and the sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts, stamped in Chocolate Chip.  I added a bit of twine for a little interest.

My second card uses the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

and I utilized some scraps from my (ever-growing) pile of designer papers, so I am not sure where they came from, although I do know that the heart paper is from Simple Stories' I Am line:

This is a notecard-sized card; the diecut is SU's Greetings thinlet, and I punched out some random hearts and added some candy dots for fun!  Thanks for visiting today!

Well, yesterday I shared that Cassidy lost her first tooth.  Yesterday morning, around 6am, she woke up to find the tooth fairy had visited her....she was SO excited that she decided to try to pull out her other one....and she was successful!

I wish I could remember if I ever pulled out any of my own teeth....I am pretty sure I didn't!  I think my dad probably did it!   How about you?  Any scary/funny tooth-pulling stories?!  I'd love to hear them!

The Challenge #71-- 80th Birthday

Just a quick post this Tuesday, using The Challenge's sketch:

I haven't played along with any of Lesley's challenges for a while, I thought it was about time!  My uncle Kenny is turning 80 years old next week; he is the last sibling on my mom's side, so he's kind of special to us!  So I used Lesley's sketch for his card.  It's very similar to the Paper Players sketch from a couple weeks ago and I used Guy Greetings for it as well:

I used some retired DSP from SU and stamped the image in Basic Gray and the words in Island Indigo.  This set is so awesome because it has "UNCLE" in it!  Woohoo!

I added an ZigZag embossed panel of Smoky Slate and a wee bit of Baker's Twine, and then added some diecuts on the inside:

I cut apart my birthday sentiment to make it easier to stamp the words separately!  Thanks for visiting today!

Oh my, it has been an eventful last few days!  Yesterday morning, Cassidy pulled out her tooth, all by herself!  No tears, no whining....it was practically pushed out by the new tooth coming in!  Now the one next to it is a-wigglin'!

Enjoy your day!

MTS122 and CCC22

Happy Monday everyone!  I've got a Christmas card for you today!  It uses the Match the Sketch challenge:

As well as the Christmas Card Challenge photo challenge:

I had been thinking that I had not used Christmas Collage for a long time, and when I saw the photo inspiration, I knew I had to use it!  I inked it up in White Craft ink, stamped it on Cherry Cobbler cardstock and embossed it with white embossing powder:

I added some randomly-placed circles of  various colors of glimmer paper, and added a Christmas sentiment from Petite Pairs (gonna miss that sweet little set!):

I really love how this turned out!  Thanks for popping by!

Cassidy's friend Dominic had his fifth birthday party yesterday at a trampoline park:

They had LOTS of fun jumping, jumping, jumping!!  Enjoy your day!

Paper Players 293

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Happy May Day!  Wow, how did it get to be May already?  Sorta snuck in on me!  Nance is our wonderful hostess at the Paper Players today and she has a super fun theme:

I got a little giddy thinking of this challenge...I don't have a lot of bicycle stamps, but I was excited thinking about what I did have and how I was going to use them!  In the end, I chose an image from Artistic Outpost called A Lovely Day, and some sentiments from the same set (a lovely day), from Clearly Besotted's Good Times (smile) and Impression Obsession's Imagine Words (dream):

I found this cool "happy words" paper from MME's My Story, and I stamped the bike right on top!  I found some floral paper (can't find the maker, sorry) that seemed to coordinate with it, so I mounted it on a Pink Pirouette card base and added my different elements.  Here's a Cameo Coral butterfly, along with some stamped butterflies (CB's Good Times again):

The sentiments were stamped in black on Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon and Pink Pirouette, then either punched out or diecut with a banner punch and adhered strategically!  Finally, some tan baker's twine and a candy dot finished it off!

The DT has some fabulous bicycle creations...such a happy theme!  Stop by the PP blog to see them, or check them out individually:
We hope you will play along too!

Cassidy is playing store...here's her cash register.....

Hmmm....what should I charge for these books?

And I wonder where those glasses are?!
