CAS Christmas

Well, my Christmas card Sunday turned into Christmas card Monday!  The CAS challenge today at SCS was to make a card with a sentiment as your only stamped image…no problem!  I am not sure if this really qualifies as a CAS, but it worked for me. 

I used a retired SU set for my sentiment, some BG papers and some punched branches and snowflake….although I think after the glitter dries on my snowflake, I’ll add some bling….it looks a bit naked there!  The sketch I used was from Stampin 411:

Happy Resurrection Day!

Praise the Lord that He has paid the price of our sin!  I pray that everyone has a blessed day of reflection, praise and fellowship with family and friends.

JUGS Sketch Challenge 27

The JUGS challenge this week is a fun sketch by Kristin!  I combined it with the color challenge from Pals Paper Arts, although for some reason I cannot link to their site, here are the colors as well as the sketch:

 

I know I’ll be needing a baby card soon, so I thought rather than use these colors for Easter, which is what first came to mind, I’d use them for a baby card:

It was fun putting all the elements together, and I hope that it was okay that I added an accent color of black.  I know black is not usually a color to use on a baby card, but when I added the elephant’s black eye and tail, it seemed a natural progression.  The black eyelets in the stars and on the scallops follows the circular embellishments as well.  Here’s the inside:

Huggabug

I had some scrap DP laying on my desk….this is an ever-growing problem, all these little pieces of paper that collect, and I am too lazy to put them back. I guess I need a better system! Anyway, I thought I would use it to make a simple birthday card using a little Bella Huggabug stamp:

She is stamped on Very Vanilla in Memento ink and colored with Copics!!! (I don’t use them enough!) Her little wings were all glittered up and she is ready to grant someone a birthday wish! Here’s the inside, stamped & colored up real quick:

Shadowbox Challenge

Well, on Sundays I usually post a Christmas card, but I recently found a Crafty Secrets group over at Papercraft Planet; I don’t visit PCP very often, but I was fortunate enough this time to score a 3D Shadowbox Frame to use for their current challenge!  The deadline for this is tomorrow, so I am making a Christmas decoration today instead of a card on Sunday!   It was very easy to put together and I had SO MUCH FUN using some vintage images from the Graphics Fairy and some diecut images from K&Co’s Brenda Walton line:

The color red is always a challenge for me to photograph, so I apologize for the discrepancies in the pictures!  Not much stamping…just a bit on the center panel; I added some DP and sponged the edges and added a little ribbon. There is also chipboard on this card, so it qualifies for Sharon Johnson’s No Time To Stamp challenge as well!   This is supposed to fold together into a triptych-type card, but my chipboard embellishments extended over the edges, so it will just have to be a little decoration for my home, come the holidays!  Thanks for visiting today!

Bowphobia

I don’t really have a bow phobia…..I just don’t add big bows to my cards because it adds so much bulk. But after seeing so many really striking cards with big bows, and after chatting with a blogging friend whose cards always have some awesome ribbon & bows, I thought I would try again. The results are a bit laughable, but let me explain. I got some really fun ribbon on a floral arrangement when my MIL died, and I saved it because it really reminded me of an old SU stamp…and it’s good to recycle, right?! So when I saw this color challenge today at Stamping 411:

and this sketch from Wednesday’s sketch challenge at SCS:

I decided to go for it. I realize my green panel is not exactly Green Galore---oops!! Anyway, here is the card, sans the ribbon (so you can get the real effect):

and here it is WITH the ribbon:

So a little off balance, huh? I obviously need some more practice on adding big fat bows!! But you can see where I got the inspiration—it is some fun ribbon! I added some glitter to the flowers as there is glitter on the ribbon too. And here is the inside:

The flowers are from a retired SU set called Delightful Doodles---remember that? The sentiments are from a Simon Says Stamp set that doesn’t have a name on it! So let me know what YOU think….honestly. I can take it!

It is a gorgeous day here in PA, just right for hanging clothes on the line and I am already on my third load! Before I go out to enjoy the sunshine, I wanted to share another Easter card I got from Linda L:

Easter Cards from Friends

It’s been a busy day, and a busy weekend to come, so I doubt I’ll get any stamping in today.  I received a couple lovely Easter cards, so I thought I would share them!

This cutie is from Beth; she always puts a lot of thought and detail into her cards….I think she should have a blog of her own!!  Anyway, here it is:

It is a perfect reflection of our Pennsylvania weather today!!!  And my next one is a beautiful easel card from Ruth.  I have not seen these stamps before—there is a Bible verse inside as well:

It’s hard to see, but the “stopper” part of the card is a lovely rhinestone!  Thanks to both Beth & Ruth for these lovely cards! 

We will be celebrating Maundy Thursday with a supper & communion at church, so I am off to man the ovens!
