Stacey’s Curtain Call Act#23

I haven’t played Stacey’s Color Challenge for a while, so I thought I would take a few minutes today to play!  These are such elegant colors, and the designers’ samples are so nice!  I had seen some punched tulips (I believe on LeeAnn Greff’s blog) so I thought I would try them here to make another Easter card for my stash.  I also used Taylor’s sketch.  Here are the details:

FS164 Christmas Card

 

 

 

Today’s SCS Featured Stamper Challenge#164 is Brandi, and since I am on track for making a Christmas card a week, I thought I would CASE this card and make her CAS card into a CAS Christmas card:

 

 

I kept it CAS, used a tree image, and pleated my ribbon, but changed the stamp & sentiment and used DP for my panel instead of a stamped image, plus I added a little tiny bling at the top of the tree.  All DPs are from some vintagey Christmas papers from My Mind’s Eye, including the circular punch-out panel.  The tree image is SU’s Patterned Pines, also stamped on some MME paper.  My last little bit of RHR ribbon was pleated on the panel and the sentiment is from Short & Sweet; both the tree & sentiment were stamped in Garden Green.  I also had a personal challenge:  since I was making meat balls and they had to cook for 20 minutes, I wanted to make my card in that time frame.  Luckily they weren’t quite done, so I got an extra 10 minutes to finish up!!  (The pleating did me in!)

Hoppy Easter Sketch

Good gracious, after a frustrating morning trying to make chocolate-covered butter cream Easter eggs (and I’m not finished yet) I decided to take a break and make a fun, EASY card with Barbara’s sweet simple sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges shown here:

I’ve been hoarding this Bloom paper for a while, but I needed some fresh spring inspiration, so I decided to bring it on!  I just love it!  The little bunny from Kim Hughes just makes me smile too!  Now as I was posting this card, I thought that the little bunny was just looking kind of plain…..so I went back to my table, stamped a little flower and added it just so:

Ahh, that’s better!   He looks much cuter with that sweet little flower!!!  Thanks for visiting today….back to the messy chocolates! 

A Flower for Mimi

Happy Friday, everyone! DH & I were away for a couple of days, so it is good to be home and back in my stamp room! My SIL’s birthday is Sunday; I just finished her card this afternoon, so guess what—it’s going to be LATE! Oh well! I chose a stamp set that I haven’t used for a while, Flowers for Daisy, by Asela Hopkins, and incorporated it into Mercy’s Sketch #66, shown here:

I stamped the image twice, colored them with SU markers, and popped up the second flower at an angle to the first one---I love the effect! Some Pink Flamingo DP gave me the color inspiration, and since the Stampin’ Royalty challenge this week is to use glitter, I added some DD to the center of my flower to glitz it up a bit! Color Throwdown #85

This week is  CTD Challenge #85, brought to you by our hostess Cathy!  Aren’t these colors of Baja Breeze, Garden Green and Certainly Celery so soft & soothing?  Just beautiful! 

I hope you will be able to create something extra-special with these hues, in “honor” of Cathy, as she’ll be stepping down from the CTD team for a little break.  Be sure to check all the details on the sidebar of the CTD blog and put your creativity to work with these wonderful colors!

I chose the Mojo Sketch #131 for my layout---I thought it would be easy, but it turned into a little more of a challenge than I thought!  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my take on it, using some retired Baja Breeze papers and Pocket Silhouettes:

This is a 6” x 3 1/4” card; I wish I had made it a little taller to compensate for the width of the ribbon.  But I hope someone will like it---it’s always good to have get well cards in my stash!  Now let’s see what the other girls have created this week:

Variations on a Theme

Two challenges, two cards, same color theme, different looks!  The first challenge is over at Paper Craft Planet; my bloggin/stampin’ buddy Tammy is sponsoring a 3D challenge….to make one of those paper flowers that are so popular right now!  You can see all the details right here.  I had a poofy flower already made, courtesy of another stampin’ buddy, Shawn, so I just made a CAS card on which to put it:

The background is SU’s A to Z, overstamped with the Very Vogue wheel; sentiment is from the hostess set, Of The Earth, and the Ruby Red DP is from a hostess pack.  Now I am going backwards here, because actually the FIRST card I made (which is why I had the hostess set and hostess paper out) was this card, which is for a challenge at The Shabby Tearoom (don’t you love that name!) which was to use stitching on your card:

Now this is supposed to be a spring challenge---I guess these colors are not really springy, but they fit the mood of the gray day we are having, plus I wanted a sample of a card made with the Square Scallop Die Cut.  There is lots of stitching goin’ on here, even on the inside:

The little sparrow was stamped in Versamark, then daubed with a blend of Close to Cocoa and Ruby Red pastel chalks….I still had them on my desk from my SB page!  (But I finally cleaned everything up!!)

ColourQ #25

One of my friends recently had surgery, so I wanted to send her a get well card.  I thought the colors of today’s ColourQ challenge were cheerful enough to use for her card:

Isn’t this a sweet vignette?  I just love these eggs!!  So, I went with a bird theme, too:

I used a couple different sets; Circle Circus, Best Wishes and More, and Three Little Words---the first ink-up of that sweet little sentiment set!  And since I used Chocolate Chip as my base, I added a white panel inside with some flowers from a (dusty) set, Simply Said:
