CTS367 Epic Celebration

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Are you having some crazy weather?  We sure are---but no snow like I've seen in some areas, thank goodness!  A friend contacted me about a SU set from SAB a couple years ago, Epic Celebration.  I stamped a few images for her and sent them off in the mail, but it got me to thinking what a great set it was, and I needed a birthday card for a teenage boy in our church, so off I went to create:

I wish I had gotten a little better picture of it, but its in the mail, so these will have to do!  I used the CAS(E) This Sketch layout:

I used the grunge stamp from Label Me Bold to create the ombre-hued layers; I used Basic Gray and Smoky Slate, stamping each full-strength one time, then stamping it again without reinking.  A few little speckles from Itty Bitty Background in Riding Hood Red finished my background.  Then I stamped the Epic Celebration images in Basic Gray and colored them with Blends and Copics, fussy-cut them out and adhered the to the background:

I stamped the sentiment in Riding Hood Red ink and layered the image on a Riding Hood Red card base!  I just love how this turned out!!!  Thanks for visiting today!

We had some unbelievable winds Thursday night; I didn't hear them (Nyquil helps) but John did, and when he went out Friday morning, he found this behind his garage:

Blessedly, it wasn't near the house, and it totally missed the garage as well.  He said he'll probably take the whole tree down at some point.  I am willing to bet it made quite a crack---unless it's like that joke, "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound?"  LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

What a fabulous card. So in the times too. Thank goodness that tree limb didn't hit anything. Now for clean up - make great fire wood for someone who needs it. Stay safe!

I love your take on the sketch. It's an awesome...or should I say "epic" card! The wood on the inside of the tree where the open knot hole is is just beautiful. I'm so thankful it didn't do any damage. I love my little ducks...thank you and Happy Easter to you and your family.

What a great card LeAnne! I bet it will go down brilliantly with your teen friend. I love the way you stuck to a limited colour palette - it's so effective.
You really have had some dramatic weather haven't you?! It wasn't so long ago that we were seeing trees coming down like this. I find it so sad, although of course the main thing is that you are all safe and it didn't do any damage. In contrast we are having a bizarre heat wave!
Have a lovely Easter Sunday, Vicky x

I just LOVE this fabulous card for a teen and it's such a great take on the sketch too! Thank goodness that tree didn't fall on the house or garage!! Butch insisted he saw snow flakes flying around yesterday morning, but I missed it. I know it was certainly cold enough to snow! LOL Wishing you and yours a very happy and joy-filled Easter!

What a great take on the sketch leAnne - perfect boys card! The ombre background looks amazing. Glad the tree missed your house...that would keep us going in firewood for the Winter and beyond!

I love how you used this sketch LeAnne - this is a great stamp set for teens and your limited colour palette works a treat. Shame about the tree, although so lucky it didn't hit the garage - John would not have been pleased!
