Merry Monday 146

Just a quick card today; I am under the weather again, I don’t even feel like stamping, can you believe it?  I FORCED myself to make a Christmas card for the Merry Monday challenge, which is to use a Santa!  I love Santas!

I went the lazy way out; I knew I had some vintage MME Lost & Found Christmas papers that had a Santa…..one piece left!  Here we go:

I cut out the swirly portion from the same piece of paper and adhered it to the top left corner, then stamped a few extra words from My Favorite Thing’s Seasonal Sentiments in Early Espresso, and some snowflakes in Encore Gold:

Some shabby ribbon, burlap trim and glimmer country stars finished it off!  Another one for my stash!

I am always touched when I get comments and questions about Cassidy, and some people even send her little cards and gifts, which she ADORES!  She loves to get mail!  My sweet friend Kim sent her a package, which arrived yesterday:

The inside packaging was almost too pretty to open!

But she got it open, and inside was an adorable little doll’s backpack!  She just happened to have a doll on which to put it:

(The backpack is much more attractive than this poor doll!!!)  And this was her reaction to the card inside:

It made both of us smile!  Just check out this sparkly creation!  How fun!  Thanks, Kim!

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  We got some snow yesterday, but the sun came out later and it was just such a pretty day!  Still cold though!  Sadly, I needed a sympathy card, and it was a perfect day to stay inside and stamp.  I used the Technostamper sketch and the Retro Rubber challenge to use eyelets :

Wow….I had to go looking on my shelf for my eyelets, but I was able to find them and paired them with some DSP from last year, and an Artistic Outpost image that I love to use for these kind of cards:

I originally had planned to put the checked strip across the bottom in front of the stamped image, but I didn’t like how it looks, so I used my Xacto tool to cut out the bottom part of the image, which was stamped directly on a piece of My Minds Eye DSP from my stash,  and laid it over the checked DSP.    I used a ticket die from Simon Says Stamp for my sentiment from Petite Pairs, stamped in Island Indigo.  My eyelets are old Bordering Blue ones, but they match the colors fairly well:

MTS059 Birthday Card for Dana

Happy Monday, everyone!  Hope you are staying warm….it was zero degrees on my porch yesterday morning, but I am thankful I am not in the Boston area….that’s just way too much snow, LOL!  We celebrated Dana’s birthday yesterday (it’s actually today) and I used the Match The Sketch sketch for this week to get me started:

Just before Christmas, Dana, my niece and I were all bitten by the knitting bug, so I thought the retired Hand Knit set, along with the knit DSP from Adventure Bound made a perfect match for her card!  Here ya go:

I watercolored my wee little lamb, which was stamped in Stazon on Naturals White cardstock, and used a little artistic liberty with her wooly coat….I don’t think I have ever seen a lamb with Cajun Craze wool, LOL!  But it matched the opposite side of the DSP perfectly:

I stamped and fussy-cut the other elements, stamped a few knitting needles on the Sahara Sand card base and it was done!  She said she liked it!!!  And Cassidy liked blowing out the candles on the cake:

Hey peeps!  Today, Joanne is our hostess and she’s got a sweet clean-and-simple challenge for us….use a bird on your card!  Yay!  I love birds! 

I am a bit disappointed that my card didn’t photograph as well as I would like, because it’s really cool-looking IRL!  At any rate, here it is:

I used some washi tape, and the top one is the gold one from SU’s Watercolor Wonder, but the shimmer just doesn’t show up in the photo!  Trust me, it looks better than it does here!   The birdhouse tape is from my stash and the other two are from SU’s Sweet Sadie.  I am not sure where the bird die came from (there’s no name on it) and the sentiments and dotty corner are from SU’s set called So You, which is a really fun set from the Occasions Mini.  I stamped the “happy” in Memento Black ink, then used a blender pen and Crisp Cantaloupe ink to fill it in:

I mounted my Very Vanilla panel on a Crumb Cake card I already had laying around (I was trying to use up some stuff I already had cut!), and then added some piercing and sequins.  This is less clean-and-simple than I usually do, but I think it still qualifies!  This also qualifies for Little Red Wagon’s Winter Washiland challenge as well as the sketch from CAS(e) This Sketch:

Cassidy made some Valentine cookies for her mommy and daddy on Friday:

I had some leftover white and pink icing in the freezer, so we put both in the frosting bag at the same time with a star tip and had lots of fun decorating them!

Happy Vintage Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I wish you all lots of love!  I wanted to share a few Valentines with you; this post is a bit photo-heavy, so bear with me!  These first three are ones I received in the mail so far!  The first is from my upline, Pennie:

And a special one from my DGD Cassidy!

And most of you know that I love all things vintage!  These are just a few of the Valentines I was able to obtain when my dad’s cousin Jeanne passed away a few years ago.  These are in pretty good condition, and we think they are from the mid-1930s or so.   A lot of them have interactive pieces, like these bears, whose eyes switch back & forth:

And this one, with a little fan that moves (although I am not sure what the appeal of a painted donkey behind the fan is!):

This Victorian-style has three panels and is in gorgeous condition…check out that crepe-paper flower in the front!  The price on the back said 10 cents!

And I just love these hot pink “wooden” Valentine friends!

There are at least 30 or 40 in the group!  A real treasure!
