Color Throwdown 34

Wow!  Barbara really challenged me this week!  I would never have thought to put these colors together, but I think I made the combination work.  What do you think--Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss and Blush Blossom!  I think I am probably still on my first package of Blush Blossom cardstock!  We are all excited to see what you can come up with using this color combo!

For my card, I pulled out a set I haven't used in a loooong time--Fun and Fast Notes:

The card itself is a 4x4" card mounted on a quarter sheet of textured Kiwi Kiss.  I paper pieced my little bird with some NQN DP, and since I did not have anything that remotely resembled Blush Blossom in my ribbon stash, I made some of my own with my handy-dandy crimper!  I added some bling, a little green heart, more bling, and a row of piercing, and I was done!  I even stamped my little birdie again on the inside:

I seem to need lots of get well cards, so I hope this will cheer someone up!

3D Tuesday Challenge

I just read Tammy's post about the 3D Challenge on Papercraft Planet. I just made some cute little favors for an upcoming workshop, so I quick took some pix.  Then I RE-READ the post and we are to make Cambria's cute little scallop basket!  Oh well!  I wanted to share these anyway!  Maybe I'll do that challenge later LOL!

These are made from two Scallop Envelope diecuts. I am sure you have seen these around; I got my idea from Amy Celona, but I am not sure who came up with the idea first. They don't stand up by themselves, but they are darn cute and easy to make. If you want directions, just email me as I am pressed for time today (remember the upcoming workshop?). I have just decorated them with some springy images and DP, then filled them with goodies!

U-U Mojo Card

Unique and unusual--that's what I am calling this card!  I struggled with this Mojo Monday#78 sketch:

it seemed easy enough, but I just couldn't find the right image to fit that long thin panel.  Of course, when you're stamping at 12:30 in the morning, how can you remember all the stamps you have anyway?!  But I wanted to use this beautiful (hoarded) DP and every stamp I had seemed to clash.  So I ditched all my stamps, I spied my (again, hoarded) new Chloe's Closet jumbo rhinestone stickers and thought of a way to incorporate them.

First, I flipped the sketch because I didn't want to cover up those gorgeous flowers!  I decided to use vellum, again so that the images would show through.  I distressed the top two pieces of cardstock, which are both flip sides of each other (the name is long gone, sorry!) by rubbing my Creamy Caramel stamp pad over the texture of the CS.  The end of the strip of vellum was put through the new scallop oval punch and just the bottom edge was punched.  Here's a quick tutorial on how to do that, just in case you've never done it before:

 

First, your paper has to be a little narrower than your punch opening.  Begin to slide it in.

 

 

Gently lift up the edge and continue to pull it through all the way until you are almost at the end of the strip.

 

 

Center the strip between the edges of the punch opening and carefully punch!  Only your end will be punched.

 

You can do this with the tag punch also, if you want a longer tag.

So, back to the card.  I stamped "inspire" from SU's retired Expressive Flexible Phrases and distressed it a little, then punched and mounted it on another piece of DP scrap, turning it at the same angle as the rhinestones.  My twill ribbon is also retired SU.  A fun card---not sure what I'll use it for, but it was nice just to stamp for fun!

Two Fast and Easy Cards

I played around a tiny bit with my new Big Shot and made a card for a new hostess who booked a workshop.  I used the Top Note die and the wonderful Parisian Breeze textured cardstock:

You're probably getting sick of seeing this cardstock, but it is so pretty!  I cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4" x 8" and scored it at 5 1/2".  Then I cut the Top Note and mounted it on top as shown, added the ribbon and button and a NEW sneak peak--a scalloped oval punch and coordinating set that will be in SU's Occasions Mini!  The set is called Oval All and it fits in the large oval punch perfectly.  I LOVE my Nesties, but it is nice to just pull out some punches and have matching shapes!  Then I took the "negative" piece from which I punched the Top Note and made this card:

And yes, I went against my tradition and put on a big honkin' bow!!!  These cards were soooo easy!  I cannot wait to play some more!  I can't sleep at night thinking of all the stuff I could be doing!  Hopefully the Mojo Monday sketch will be posted soon, (although I already saw it on Mary Fish's blog here) and perhaps I'll have time to do that today also!

Simple Green

No, this is not a post for a cleaning product! This simple card took me about five minutes to make once I figured out what I wanted to do, compared to the hour I wasted on the one before, which I won't even post. Ick. Anyway, this fulfills three challenges again, the NMBS Group Challenge, to use a stamp set from the upcoming SU Occasions catalog; the Stamp Something Challenge, to use green; and the Our Creative Corner Challenge, which was to use limited layers and embellishments.

I seem to be making cards that are a challenge to photograph lately. This card is one of those "donut" cards where there is a hole punched in the front and your image pops out from the inside. See what I mean here:

The Sage Shadow cardfront was embossed with my new Sissix Eyelet Texturz plate (it does not emboss as deeply as a CB folder, IMHO) and punched out with the new SU scallop oval punch. The image is from Oval All, stamped in Stazon on Shimmery White and watercolored with Pink Pirouette. It was punched out with the regular scallop punch and adhered with a dimensional onto another Pink Pirouette scalloped punchout. I used a piece of (hoarded) eyelet ribbon from the Dress Up collection. Here's another view:

I think this is a fun style of card to make, one that is easy, but has a "wow" factor!

Quickie Card

Just a quickie "clean & simple" card and quickie post today--no special sketch, no color challenge, just something out of my own little brain.  I have been wanting to use my neglected Best Wishes and More along with some brighter colors.  What better color to use than Tangerine Tango--it is waaaay up there on the brightness scale!

I hope this perks up the person for whom it is intended!!!

Attack Cat

Cats do the funniest things, don't they?  This morning, as I went to photograph my card, which is always a struggle for me anyway, my little Pumpkin was using my "photo area" as her own personal space. 

 

Doesn't this look like she is  GIANT?  She's not, but  it sure looks that way!

 

 

 

 

So anyway, here's the card, sans cat, made for Sharon's No Time to Stamp Stamp Simply Challenge #78, to use a white mat:

Pretty simple!  You can see I added a little of the leftover Urban Prairie to the inside of the card.  What you can't probably see is the little white polka dots on my Saffron oval!  Sentiment is retired SU, So Many Sayings and my image is from Trendy Trees.  A little Michael's bling stuck on the SAB ribbon, and it's done!  Be sure to check out Sharon's blog--she always has the most wonderful cards, samples, hints, stuff for sale, you will be glad you did!  Enjoy your day!
