KCC540 Anything Goes

Happy New Year's Eve, peeps!  We have NO plans tonight, except maybe to have a glass of bubbly, and maybe even go to bed early!!  Today is my last day as a Guest Designer with those sweet ladies over at the Krafty Chicks!

The theme for the last week in December is "Anything Goes"! I had a lot of fun this season making some non-card 3D items, and one of them was this three-sided Christmas tree luminary!  My inspiration for this came from a blog post I read by Jennifer Maker; she does a lot of craft projects using a Cricut, but she does give directions to make them by hand as well.  I immediately thought of the Stitched Triangle dies we have, as well as the pretty flocked Plush Poinsettia vellum, so I thought I'd give it a go!  I did a little bit of paper engineering, cutting, tracing, adhering and stamping, and this is what I came up with:
I began by cutting a template with the largest triangle die, then adding 1/2" edge to each side, as well as a 1/4" tab to one of the sides. The template was traced on to Shaded Spruce and hand-cut three times.  I used the triangle die to cut an opening inside each piece and adhered a piece of Plush Poinsettia inside each opening.  Each tab section was scored, and I used narrow Sticky Strip on the tabs to adhere the sides together.  I did trim off the little pieces that stuck out so that it would sit flat.  I added red rhinestones (which I would recommend doing BEFORE adhering everything together, LOL!) to some of the berries on the vellum:

And I added a red glimmer star to the stop and a sentiment stamped in Real Red and diecut to the top as well.  A standard tealight fits under it nicely and it makes for a pretty little decoration!

I made a couple of other things as well; this is a mini Altoid box that I covered with some vintage Christmas images, glimmer paper, ribbon and stamped images:

And here is the inside:

And here are a couple more ornaments I made for family members:

So what will you create for your "Anything Goes" project?!  I hope you'll share them with us over at the Krafty Chicks!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!  See you NEXT YEAR!

I recognize the image on the outside of your Altoid tin as I have a vintage post card with that same pic.
Love what you did.
