Happy Friday, peeps! Time for a new As You See It challenge, and I just LOVE this one...look at these gorgeous colors:
I had an idea in my head as soon as I saw the colors, but it didn't quite work out as I had planned, but I kept at it and I think it turned out okay. I wanted to use a poinsettia from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set to stamp off the edge, but the one I chose was a little small for the effect I was trying to achieve:
This really looks better in real life than in the photo! Anyway, I heat embossed the poinsettia with black embossing powder, then watercolored it with Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo, adding some gray to the background. It looked a little puny, so I added some berries. Still puny. So then I added the "greenery", or maybe I should say "pinkery" and it filled in a little better.
THEN I realized I got a black smudge on the face of the card, so instead of stamping a sentiment, I used a Concord & 9th diecut, but the smudge showed through, so I backed it with some glimmer paper. Finally, I added some speckles, rounded the edges and adhered some gray sequins. Phew!
And the reason I wanted to stamp off the edge was because the CAS Mix It Up Challenge this month is stamping off the edge, and the CAS Christmas Card Challenge is to use non-traditional colors:
I hope that you'll find something to inspire you with our colors this week...they're so pretty! Share your creation with us at the As You See It blog...we can't wait to see it!
Thanks so much for popping in--enjoy your day and be blessed!

Beautiful! You turned that smudge into a happy little accident. Wonderfully done!
This is beautiful. I love those berries in the stamp set. The stamp makes such a crisp image. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
WOW - this is a spectacular card! I love this color palette and the "pinkery" is the perfect filler! Don't you hate that - when you're almost done and you see the smudge! I will have to say that your quick-fix is really amazing and I LOVE it! I really like this project! : )
Take care - Rachelle : )
Fabulous! Your pinkery is perfect!
Worth persevering with LeAnne - this is so pretty! That poinsettia really pops and I love the soft fill-in foliage too. Inspired solution to use the glimmer to hide the smudge - I love the sparkle behind the sentiment.
I'm so happy you stuck with it and added more until you were happy with the design, LeAnne! It's gorgeous! I LOVE the colours and the off-the-edge design. The gray looks amazing in the background with the shades of pink. One AMAZING card! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up and CAS Christmas! xx
