Exciting News!

DSCF7654

Imagine my excitement a couple weeks ago, when I got an email from Pam Imholz, a shaker and mover over at one of my favorite challenge sites, JUGS!  She asked me if I’d like to be the guest designer for May….wow, how could I refuse?  YES!!  I have been a fan of their unique challenge blog since its beginning!  So today begins my DT gig!  Here we go!

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge from Maria:

JUGS31

A while back I had been looking through my sewing supplies for things I could use in my cardmaking.  I learned to sew through 4H when I was about 12, so I have been collecting sewing stuff for a loooong time!  I came across a full package of vintage snaps on a neat little card; the snaps were in a circle (wish I’d taken a picture of them!) and I thought they would look cool as an embellishment on a sewing-themed card.  So I pulled out some papers from  October Afternoon, along with Puns from the Past, and went to work:

JUGS 05-01-10

I did some machine stitching on the panels (still working on my straight stitches!) and shabbied them up a bit with some More Mustard ink.  I also found a reel of striped bias tape, so I made a little bow out of that.  The sentiment is from PTI. Thanks for visiting today!  Be sure to check out the JUGS blog so you can see what the other designers have come up with!

Wow LeAnne, this is such a great card! I love the snaps, an excellent detail. As for straight lines....I tend to go crooked on purpose because if I try to be straight they'll be something throwing it off down the line eventually!

Oh now, THAT is gorgeous! And I just finished cleaning out my sewing box and threw out similar snaps, still in their original packaging (a circle of them)

Congrats and hi-5's for your GT spot!!!
This card just blew me away with that circle of snaps! I too have goodies like this in my sewing stash, but NEVER would have thought to use them on a card!! You get 10 snaps and 10 twirls for this awesome creation :)

Hi LeAnne! This is so pretty! I love the sewing theme you've created here. I own that stamp set and don't think I've used that one! And I so remember those snaps in a circle! I remember seeing them in my grandmother's sewing basket!
