PP332 Sentiments

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Laurie is our hostess at the Paper Players today and her Clean and Simple challenge is to use a sentiment as your focal point:

I have another sympathy card (I needed three last week!) and this one uses another wonderful diecut  and stamp set from Papertrey:

I was a wee bit annoyed as my paper buckled when I adhered it to the cardstock, but after a while, it flattened out....so when it went in the mail, it looked a little better than it does here!  Anyway, I found these beautiful papers from ScrapBerry's, called Forest, and I chose a paper that had some subdued colors and a pretty little bird's nest and flock of birds on it.  I first stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze, but it didn't look quite right, so since I was using my Misti, I stamped over it in Chocolate Chip and it matched perfectly!  Isn't that little nest so sweet?

Before I added a bit of greenery from Tim Holtz, I ran my paper through a stitched rectangle die, then adhered it and added some linen thread:

And finally, sentiments from Our Daily Bread Designs and Hero Arts for the inside:

I know you have some lovely sentiments in your stash to use for this challenge, so get stampin'!  Share them with us at the PP this week; meanwhile, you can check out what the DT did here:

Dana's birthday was Thursday and Cassidy made her a card with the owl punch and some woodgrain background:

I wish I had gotten a better picture of it but I forgot!  Anyway, she wanted the sentiment to "swing", so she mounted it on some baker's twine and sure enough, the little owl looks like he is holding the sentiment out of his wee little tree home!  This was all her idea, too:

And of course, she had to help Mommy blow out the candles on her yummy DQ cake!

Enjoy your day and thanks for popping in!

What a perfect card to recognise someone's loss LeAnne - the paper fits perfectly and the words really do say it all. Love the little details like the stitched edging and twine tied greenery too. I think you have competition today though - Cassidy's owl card is fantastic, she definitely takes after you in the creative stakes, love the swinging greeting!

Everything is wonderful about your card AND Cassidy's. Yours will lift the recipient up and Cassidy's certainly brings out your daughter's beautiful smile. Now I'm on a mission to look at your product sites. I'm going to have to come out of retirement if I keep finding places other than SU! Have a blessed week.

Your sympathy card is just lovely! I really like the sentiment on the inside and I am going to recreate it today for a sympathy card I need to make.
Cassidy is REALLY talented. I Love her card! And I can tell that her Mom did, too. It must be so enjoyable to watch her grow and expand her talents, personality, etc. TFS!

I am swooning over the background paper you used here--gorgeous! Like Claire, I thought you might have stamped it too. Love that big bold sentiment and the stitched border. Cassidy's card is fantastic too--love her idea for the swinging sentiment. Such a clever girl--just like Grandma!

Oh dear I am sorry you have needed so many sympathy cards recently LeAnne, that is sad news. Another elegant and tasteful creation, that background paper is gorgeous and I'm sure it was nice and flat by the time it got to its destination. Happy belated birthday to Dana!

Fabulous sympathy card, LeAnne. I love the paper you chose as the base - it is so soothing and uplifting - especially with the message. Sorry that you needed 3 sympathy cards last week - they are always so tough to make - but so gratefully received.
On a lighter note - I love Cassidy's owl..... and know Mommy will have thoroughly appreciated it :-)
Hugs
Jaydee
