Paper Players 252

DSCF0711
Happy Sunday, peeps!  I trust you had a safe & fun holiday yesterday!  Ann is our hostess for this week’s Paper Players challenge, and she’s chose a theme of “The Great Outdoors”!  Wow, there are so many possibilities for this one!
My friend Martha gave me a little stamp set from Recollections featuring some beachy images, and it was sitting on my desk, so I thought that would be a fun way to interpret this challenge, since I love going to the beach!  I just received my latest Paper Pumpkin kit, too, so I used some elements from it to make my card!  The card itself is from the kit, and it has a strange shape, so it was a bit tricky to photograph:

It has a pointy end, so it doesn’t stand up straight!  It also comes with its own envelope and liner….very cool!  I punched out some of the banner stickers and adhered them to the side, along with a little wooden one….it’s next to the sand dollar.  I will caution you, that the wood is very thin and the point broke off, but I was able to adhere it back together.  Just a heads up!  I stamped my images in complementary colors and diecut them with a Lil Inkers Stitched Circle die, then added some speckles (Gorgeous Grunge), sequins and a sentiment from Fabulous Four stamped sideways along the edge:

Another birthday card for my stash….and I know just the person who’ll be receiving this one!  I hope you’ll play with our Great Outdoors challenge too!  Check out what the designers came up with….a great variety this week!
And speaking of the great outdoors, I don’t have any Cassidy pictures today, but I do have some nature pictures!  John was mowing on Friday and caught a glimpse of this little bird in the grass!  He picked it up and I was able to get some photos…I was quite intrigued by his markings; I had never seen a bird with a yellow band on the bottom of its tail like this one:

After some research, I found out it was a baby cedar waxwing!  What a wonderful surprise!  I had seen an adult last month, but I did not expect them to hang around and have a nest!  He was pretty content to sit in my hand, but when I put him down on the ground, he took cover in my salvia.  Hope he found his momma!

Enjoy your day!

What a great beachy card, LeAnne! Those stamps were just perfect for this challenge. Thanks for sharing the photos of your cool feathered friend, too. I don't think I've ever seen a Cedar Waxwing in my area either. I hope the little guy does OK, and good thing you guys spotted him!
