Quick FMS137

DSCF3279

Happy Saturday, peeps!  Just popping in for a quick little card today using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch from this week, and trying to show some love to some DP that will soon be retiring!  First, the sketch from Jen:

And here’s my jiffy card:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Label Love Birthday FMS Stampin UP

I couldn’t wait to get this vintage-looking Soho Subway paper and I haven’t used it for a long time!  I am always in need of masculine birthday cards, so I thought this would fit the bill.  The sentiment is from Label Love, and although it’s hard to see, I used the zigzag from Work of Art on the circular element.  I also used some of the new thicker baker’s twine in Baked Brown Sugar…it’s a great product if you are looking for a “natural” look!    I also added a wee bit of additional grunge on the papers with Gorgeous Grunge!

I’ll take a couple seconds to show off DH, as he was in our little local Memorial Day parade this morning:

It was a beautiful day and a perfect way to remember those who served our country!  And any time I can listen to a bagpiper is a good time for me!

Be sure to come back tomorrow where I’ll be the hostess for the Paper Players

Fun and funky card but the guy in white steals the show!

Tell your husband thank you for his service. My SIL is retired airforce and I know what sacrifices those guys (and their wives and families) make. It's not all parades!

What a handsome soldier. We went to our local Air and Space Museum today to see the Imax documentary "D Day". Nice way to celebrate Memorial Day. Tell your husband thanks for his service. My husband was in the Army and my grandson is serving now and going to Warrant Office School.

Loved the card.

Always good to brag on DH especially when he is serving! Very handsome all dressed up! And yes the bagpipes would be the icing on the cake for me!!

Your husband looks great. Is that the same uniform he had when he was actually serving? If so, he's really to be complimented. BTW, I heard an interview this past week where they asked people why we celebrate Memorial Day. None of them knew! Just a day off work. In my small town growing up, the parade and decorating the graves and honoring the veterans was a big deal. Should be still!

Very nice photos of your hubby and a great way to remember our service men and women. My husband served 20 yrs. and retired in 1971.
Your card is lovely and nice colors.

Love the card and I've not used Soho Subway near enough either. You've reminded me to pull it out. Linda is right, your husband stole the show looking very dapper in his whites!

Love the rustic look and the fun papers you used!
Hubby looks very dapper I agree! I too love bagpipes. I do have Scots in my blood after all. They are lovely and usually give me chills, lol! I remember hearing the bagpipes the first time I visited Lake Louise, Alberta - will never forget - the sound is tied to the image in my mind of the beauty of the mountains.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend!
Shanna :)
