Paper Players 174

DSCF9383

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Can you believe it is December already?!!   I am the hostess at The Paper Players today, and here’s my challenge for you:

What does the word evergreen bring to mind?  Fir trees, pine boughs, a nice green color?  I have to laugh, because my card is definitely NOT a traditional evergreen color, although there are lots of evergreen-y images on it:

LeAnne Pugliese WeeInklings Paper Players 174 Evergreen Christmas Card

When I saw the Color Throwdown challenge this week, the colors intrigued me, and made me think outside the traditional evergreen color box:

I also used the Deconstructed Sketch for this week:

I used a lot of images from a retired Cornish Heritage Farms set called Evergreen Holiday, stamping them randomly on my Gumball Green card base:

Then I stamped the trees on a white circle and embossed them:

I added a piece of burlap ribbon and my “25” (which reminds me of a Bingo piece!) and my banner; the side panel is Brushed Silver embellished with a piece of the pretty silver ribbon SU has in the Holiday mini, and I finished it all with some “snow” stamped in Encore Silver using the Gorgeous Grunge set.  Here’s the inside:

Even though this is a bit bright, I like the non-traditional color!  I hope you’ll play along at The Paper Players and share your evergreen creation with us as well!

We had Thanksgiving at John’s sister’s, and she had not seen Cassidy since she was a baby!   Cassidy asked her if she could help her do anything (can you believe that?) and Mimi had her fill the nut bowl:

She didn’t eat much turkey, but she kept us all entertained!  Have a blessed day!

Love the luscious green you used on this card and the piece of burlap looks fabulous, it gives this card a nice rustic flair. The embossing folder looks like snow falling. Could you tell me where did you get it? I would love to purchase it. I've never seen one like this. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely card w the CHF set. I also have that set, but you conceptualized it much differently than I have used it in the past. I think I'll get it out for inking again. Sure wish CHF was still around. I'm still trying to get my hands on the stamp set w the vintage pumpkin label.

What fun that we used the same color challenge and sketch together, LeAnne! Yours has an entirely different feel. Love the great background, your use of the burlap ribbon, and the embossing really looks like falling snow! Thanks for a great challenge!

This may not be a traditional evergreen color but I love the bright pop of gumball green and the collage of festive images. The burlap is a great rustic touch! Loved this challenge!
