PPA90 & CR84FN24 Christmas

Quick post as I have a busy day!  In trying to keep up with my weekly Christmas card, the Pals Paper Arts sketch was a needed boost:

After that, it all went downhill!  I just couldn’t get the thought in my head to translate to my card.  It is what it is:

Between the baby not cooperating and my glitter, glue & Versamark not cooperating, I finally just hung it up!  I think I have too many other things going on today to concentrate!  Before I go though, I thought I’d share some totally opposite-seasoned photos I took yesterday at Longwood Gardens.  It was almost 80 degrees, so it was just too good a day to stay inside:

Color Throwdown 138

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I got up real early and was able to play with my CTD friends before my DGD came to visit.  Tammy is the hostess and she’s chosen these “interactive” colors, meaning you get to choose one of them:

I chose Wild Wasabi and used the Mojo Monday 187 sketch:

And here’s my card:

I used the pinwheel and sentiment flag die and set from Laura….I thought these colors were a perfect choice for a baby boy card!  I just love how this turned out!  I also used some bias seam tape as my bow, and little faux buttons; the stitching is real, though!!!   Here’s a peek at the inside, too:

Today’s happy colors from Arielle are as springy and Eastery as you can get:

Aren’t these little bunnies adorable?  I want them.  Alas, I had to make do with creating a really simple card:

I spent all afternoon making a card and once again, realized I used the wrong neutral.  More on that later.  I regrouped and remembered that I had just gotten this MFT stamp set (that I had wanted for a looong time), so I thought it would be a good fit for the challenge….stamped the bunny on some acetate in white Stazon, layered it over a Pink Pirouette panel and matted it with a Soft Sky scalloped square.  Some Patterns DP in So Saffron and a little Old Olive border, and my card was done!  Here’s a little closer look:

It’s difficult to tell but the rose and the doily both have chunky glitter; the egg is covered with Stickles, although from this angle, it looks a bit spotty!  The music is from an old hymnal; both it and the doily were colored either by brayering or directly to paper.  The button is one I have been hoarding from my stash!  I just love this little dutch girl image!!!  And here’s another little girl I love:

Embedded Embossing

I had a fun workshop on Saturday with a great group of girls who are very crafty and many of them sew and quilt, so I thought the embedded embossing technique would be a fun one to demonstrate!  You can find all the details of how to do it here on SCS.

I made this sample for the F4A59 challenge on SCS:

I punched out 3/4” squares of Sew Suite DP for my “quilt” and adhered it to a scallop diecut from the Scallop Squares Duo, then ran it through my Square Lattice embossing folder.  I stamped the deacon’s bench from Have a Seat and overstamped the sentiment from Three Little Words.  Here’s a closer look at the quilt:

This is the card that we made at the party:

I realize as I photographed this, that a better match for the sentiment would have been Baja Breeze!  That and Marina Mist always get confused in my mind.  Anyway, everyone seemed to enjoy it; the papers we used for this quilt were Elegant Soiree and Soft Suede.  Everyone got to assemble their own little “quilt” and I used this awesome new-to-me product that SU sells called Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  I just cut a piece 2 1/4” square, peeled off the waxy paper and we stuck the little squares to the sticky side.  We then adhered that piece to our scalloped square, adhered that to the Soft Suede and ran it through the embossing folder.  Easier than trying to glue or put Snail on those little pieces!

BLOG CANDY WINNER!

Thank you so much to all who participated in the blog candy giveaway.  I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading about your favorite memories.  Not only did it help me get to know my readers better, but it was FUN!  Many of you remembered spending time with your grandparents, which makes me even more glad to be babysitting my own grandchild!  I hope she has pleasant memories when she gets older!  Lots of you mentioned camping, playing outside, being with family, reading, cooking, eating, and going to the beach. Here are a few of my favorites:

• Marissa remembers going to the beach in a Cessna plane, but having to scare the cows away from the field before they could land!
• jaymack remembers when her sister ran after a rabbit she thought was the Easter bunny, ran into a fence and knocked herself out!
• Linda’s mom wrapped little goodies like a coin or a thimble in waxed paper and baked them inside a cake – what a joy to find that little treasure!
• Gina remembers the Easter bunny bringing her sand toys, and now he brings them to her son!
• Carol L remembers getting a dime from her Pop Pop for every A on her report card!
• and Deb Buckminster remembers getting a Chatty Cathy doll for Christmas! (Something I always wanted!!!)

What great memories!  But I guess you’d like to know who won, right?  Out of a hat, my husband chose America!  Here is her memory:

“Some favorite Childhood memories are of how I loved staying back to spend my time around home with my two wonderful Great Grandmas while the rest of the kids were busy going places. As an adult, I loved spending time with my beautiful Grandparents who raised me. Sadly, they are not around anymore, but I hold on tightly to their loving memories and all the special moments. Thank you for asking. :)”

Paper Players CAS Challenge 43

Happy Palm Sunday!  I am spending today with family, so this will be short & sweet, which is perfect for Jaydee’s Clean and Simple sketch:

and here’s my creation:

I chose the lovely Blueberry Crisp for my background focal print, and the sentiment from the hostess set Afterthoughts.  I never even noticed that sweet little flower in the set, so I used it to decorate my horizontal panel.  A layer of scallops (the flip side of my paper) decorates the bottom.  I added a birthday sentiment from Bring on the Cake on the inside, so I’ve got a bright birthday card for my stash.  I hope you can find some time to play along with this quick easy sketch.  Show us your stuff over at the Paper Players blog and you may become a Cut Above or even a Headliner!!
