FMS327 Sympathy

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  It has been a lazy day today, lots of snow falling outside, so I spent a little time in the craftroom.  Sadly, we found out last evening that a friend of the family, who also happens to be a co-worker of John's at the propane company, passed away very suddenly while on the job.  His daughter babysat Dana and his son was a friend of Dana's in youth group.  A young 67, he will be missed greatly; he always had a funny story or an anecdote to share, but we know he is in the company of our Lord, probably talking his ear off too!  I used Jen's lovely FMS sketch for a card for his wife:

Deb and I have had several conversations about knitting and crocheting, of which she does both!  I love this little basket of yarn from Lockhart; I had this even before I starting knitting myself!  I stamped it on Thick Very Vanilla cardstock in Stazon ink and watercolored it:

And I just received this cross-stitch DSP yesterday from my sweet, generous friend Teri.  Honestly, she showers me with all kinds of goodies!  Paired with the Cable Knit embossing folder and some stitched dies, I thought it looked very "homey":

I added a strip of the same paper along the inside and added a Bible verse from Our Daily Bread Designs:

Thanks for popping in today!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for another Inspired By challenge!

No Cassidy pix but a lot of snow!  John had just cleaned up the downed branches and hopefully the weight of this snow won't cause more damage!

The clothesline was so heavy with snow, but the birds are light enough to not knock it off!  They fight each other at the suet!  Thankfully, the storm is finally fabating and the wind is blowing the snow off the branches.

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Holly Twinchie

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I have a quick little notecard-sized Christmas card to celebrate Loll and Bonnie's new CAS Christmas challenge!  I am way behind on my Christmas cards, so this was a good way to add another to the stash!

Those crazy Jingle Belles also have an "inchie" or "twinchie" challenge--use 1" or 2" images on your card, so I went for a "twinchie"!  Here we go:

I used some Lil'Inker holly dies with Tranquil Tide and Real Red cardstocks, then adhered them to a little panel that I diecut with a Stitched Shape square and embossed with a (really old) Cuttlebug cross-stitch embossing folder.  I added a little gingham ribbon because (sigh) I smudged some red ink on the side when I stamped my Our Daily Bread Designs sentiment.

I mounted my twinchie on a holly-patterned embossed piece of cardstock and mounted it on a Stampin' Up notecard...they come in handy when you want to make a quick little card!  Another one for December!

The wee one was under the weather on Friday...I knew she wasn't feeling well when she agreed to take a nap!  You can barely see her for her stuff animals!  She's all better now!

We're gearing up for another snowy and windy couple of days, so I'm going to try to get my posts all done ahead of time in case we lose power!  Stay safe!  Be blessed and enjoy your day!

RRCB81 With Sympathy

Happy Monday, peeps!  Hope you had a good weekend!  The Retro Rubber gals have a wonderful sketch this week courtesy of Claire:

RRCB 81

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card, so I looked in my "older" stamps and thought Awesomely Artistic (2015-2016)  would fit the bill.  I have seen some lovely creations by Charlet Mallett using white embossing powder and ink!  They're awesomely amazing!  So I decided to try the same technique with my floral image:

I used Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi inks to color in my embossed image, letting the color wash around the outside of the florals as well:

I used Flourishing Phrases (2016-2017) for the sentiments inside and out, stamping the "with Sympathy) on a piece of retired Wild Wasabi DSP, then stamped the fern from Butterfly Basics (2015) over top of the sentiment:

My final embellishment was a layered butterfly punched with the retired Small Butterfly punch....I put a Calypso Coral layer between two vellum layers and added some pearl accents.  It's sad to need a sympathy card but I feel this one will uplift and encourage as well as comfort!

Cassidy had a little 24-hour tummy bug over the weekend, but based on this photo from a trip to Walmart, I think she must be feeling better!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP383 Springtime Wishes

Hi peeps!  Happy Sunday to you!  If you live along the east coast, I hope you've survived this crazy weather we've been having!  I was happy to see Jaydee's Paper Players challenge today, because it gives me hope that spring might really arrive some time soon:

I was tempted to follow those red tulips, but I just got some beautiful papers from Polkadoodles (can you tell I went on a little shopping spree recently?!) called Eleganza, and these pretty florals were just so springy, I had to use them!  The Freshly Made Sketches from Jen Timko sketch helped me out too!

So here we go:

This is another card where the papers do most of the work!  I made this a side-fold card, which I rarely do, but I already had a piece of cardstock cut and scored that way, so I went with it!  I cut all the panels from the DSP, and stamped a sweet sentiment from Close To My Heart on the horizontal panel with Smoky Slate ink.  The banner looked a little bare, so I added a couple of butterflies, one from some retired printed SU vellum and the other from the same DSP, and then added a few Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper swirly things:

I stamped the inside with a sentiment from the same CTMH heart, and added a fussy-cut flower from the DSP:

Really easy and pretty!  I hope you'll play along with our spring challenge...so many ways to interpret the prompt!  Share yours with us at the PP blog and check out what the DT did as well:

Here are a couple pix of what this crazy storm did to one of our trees lining the driveway.  The wind was unbelievable, it blew steadily all day Friday and Saturday, with rain and snow interspersed!  I am hoping that this means the end of March will be like a lamb, because it certainly came in like a lion!  In the big scope of things, this is a relatively small branch, it could have been much worse!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CTD482 and CASCSC261 Birdie Thank You

Happy Saturdayday, everyone!  I have a quick little clean-and-simple card today using the gorgeous color palette from Color Throwdown and the fun little sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches:

I have been searching for a stamp set from Lawn Fawn (Peace Joy Love) and finally found another stamper selling it from her stash! YAY!  Technically it's a Christmas set, but I set out to make a thank you card using some of the images and this is what I came up with:

I recently got an adorable BoBunny Felicity Collection 6x6 pad, and it had this sweet little kraft and pink paper that was perfect for the challenge colors!  I stamped my birds in white craft ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, then heat-embossed them with some white embossing powder; the heart was stamped in Versamark, then Blushing Bride ink and embossed with clear embossing powder on Powder Pink cardstock.  All three were easy to fussy-cut and I plopped them on top of a little gray branch:

I used my Smoky Slate Blend to color a pearl for a  subtle wee bit more prettiness!

Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Whimsy:

I really wanted to add another layer but since it is a CAS challenge, I resisted!  Thanks for popping in today--enjoy your day and be blessed!

AYSI170 Take Two Pink Poinsettia

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!  I can't help being a wee little bit disappointed because we haven't had any participants in our latest As You See It Sketch, which I thought was really fun!  So I decided to do a second card, this time a Christmas card, and it also uses the poinsettia prompt from JoAnn at Merry Monday:

I went non-traditional with my poinsettia from Joyful Christmas, coloring it with Sweet Sugarplum ink after embossing it with gold embossing powder on Shimmery White cardstock.  Here we go:

It's too bad the photo doesn't really capture how pretty this is....I used a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock for my square panel, and the lacy image from Touches of Texture, stamped in Gold Encore ink, for my vertical image:

I added some sequins and a little burlap ribbon for an organic feel, then added a sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum on the inside:

I hope this will inspire you to play with our sketch this week....there are so many interesting possibilities with it!!  Show us yours at As You See It!

No Cassidy pictures today, but I did snap this before I went into the post office...our postmaster really keeps his flower beds neat and tidy, and it's proof that spring actually will arrives SOMEtime!:

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Inspired By #9 In the Meadow

Happy Thursday, peeps! And Happy March!  Is it coming in like a lion or a lamb where you live?  Hope you've been having a good week so far....I am feeling better, just in time for Laurel's Inspired By challenge!  I was lying in bed one night, thinking about the prompt and I remembered this beautiful background stamp SU had called Floral, so I pulled it out and went to work:

I love the richness of Tranquil Tide on Garden Green....reminds me of the green swaths of grass at Longwood Gardens!  I added some yellow roses from Altenew, a sentiment from Technique Tuesday, and after seeing this card by Laurel, I pulled out a PTI hexagon die and added a little vellum panel...I hope she doesn't mind that I CASEd her, LOL!

On the Crumb Cake base, I also stamped some Burlap, and you can see how I stamped "so very" so very crookedly....sigh, even with a Misti, sometimes I still go awry!

Anyhoo, here's Laurel's inspiration prompt:

Perfect for spring...how will you interpret this lovely little work of art?  Can't wait to see yours, and be sure to pop by the Inspired By blog to see the DT's take on it!  And Laurel has set up a Facebook page too....go over and "like" us!!

Santa-inspired Emoji nightwear....she cracks me up!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
