JB19 Christmastide

DSCF6048

Happy Saturday!  I am a little late with my weekly Christmas card, but I made it!  This is a real CAS one using Baja Breeze and Whisper White with a vintage image I got at the Allentown Stamp Show.  I just love silhouettes, and I think this qualifies for the Jingle Belles challenge 19, the Spirit of Christmas Past!  Here we go:

DSCF6049

This is notecard-sized; I dug out an embossing folder I hadn’t used in forever; used the Northern Frost diecut for my snowflake, which I tapped into a Versamark pad, added some Heat & Stick powder, heated it briefly, then sprinkled on some white MS glitter and heated again.  So pretty!

I also learned that you can color a SU glimmer brad with Copics!  Woohoo!  This brad was silver and I used BG72 to achieve a pretty good match to Baja Breeze!  My sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms.  I love the retro look of it!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  If you have any questions about any of the items I used on my card, just give me a shout!  And don’t forget to stop back tomorrow for the Paper Players challenge!

Card Patterns 113

DSCF6011

Just a quick post today, lots to do!  Took the Card Patterns sketch 113:

CP sketch113

to make a birthday card for a special friend:

DSCF6010

I already had the Blushing Bride Patterns DP on my desk, so I went with another vintage theme, pulling out Vintage Vogue and the hostess set Just Because for my images.  I never use Basic Gray, but I thought it would be a pretty complement for the Blush.

DSCF6011-1

I used a doily for my scallop and some wide satin ribbon and an Antique Brad to corral it.  Hope she likes it!  Thanks for visiting today!

Color Throwdown 140

DSCF6044

I have been itching to do a vintage card, and when I saw Barbara’s colors for the CTD this week:

swatch 140

I knew this was the right palette!  I have been wistfully gazing at the Funkie Junkie, Cherry’s Jubilee and Simple Treasures for some inspiration…they all seem to have that lovely vintage style down pat.  So I pulled out some Crafty Secrets goodies I recently got and went to work:

DSCF6040

I’m pretty happy with the results.  I don’t have any Blushing Bride ink, only Patterns designer paper, but this CS image had all the colors I needed!  I did color the little flowers around the edge with a Pink Pirouette marker, and it seems to match fairly well.  I dyed some felt with Baja Breeze ink to make my little leaves; the rest is just bits and bobs from my stash.

All other stamped images are various PTI sets; the musical BG is from Cornish Heritage Farms.  Email me if you have questions!

SSC201

DSCF6007

I needed a Mother’s Day card for a special someone whose favorite color is purple!  Concord Crush is probably my least favorite In Color, but I did have some Patterns DP, so I combined it with Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum for my simple card:

The sketch is from Stamping 411:

I did some heat embossing with white craft ink and white embossing powder using Pocket Silhouettes; the butterfly is from Dreams duJoir; sentiment is from All Holidays.  I added some pearls (forgot the three under the sentiment panel) and a little faux “eyelet” to the left of the embossed image.

ColourQ 83

CQC83 Banner

Happy Tuesday, peeps! It’s ColourQ day---one of my favorite days of the week! Look at these lovelies that Arielle snagged for our inspiration this week:

cqc83

I had this idea for my card for a while….not sure if it really translated the way I liked. (I seem to be having this problem lately!) Anyway, here we go:

CQC83-LeAnne

I punched away a portion of the front of the card and allowed some of the inside DP to peek out…here’s another vantage point:

CQC83_LeAnne

I blended an old set with a new set---Baroque Motifs (had to dust it off) and the new Four Frames (available in upcoming catalog)….along with Teeny Tiny Wishes. I saw a little trick on Fran Sabad’s blog for making your own “brads”….punch out cardstock with 1/4” circle punch and add a couple layers of Crystal Effects! I punched mine out first and laid them on some cardboard with Dotto repositionable adhesive. Added the CE (two coats, dry WELL in between), then just pulled them off the Dotto carefully and applied them to my project!

Here’s an inside view:

This also qualifies for the Little Red Wagon challenge 78, a Mother’s Day challenge. Thanks for visiting and make sure you wheel on over to the CQC blog to play along with these bright cheerful colors! They’ll make you smile!

Another Cat

DSCF4066

Happy Monday!  I spent most of the weekend with friends and family so did not stamp much!  I did have a chance to do a little this morning, but I am afraid you’re going to get tired of this little kitten from the Touch of Kindness set (new summer mini), but she is just so cute, I can’t help myself.  I needed a special thank-you for a special someone, so I pulled out some bright DPs and made a real simple card with my little watercolored kitty:

DSCF4064

I just did some loose watercoloring with reinkers and my aquapainter:

DSCF4066-1

And so you don’t think this is the only stamp set on my desk, here’s a REAL easy one using The Open Sea set, again from the new summer mini:

DSCF4068

I forgot to write down whose blog had the idea for this great frame; hopefully someone will step forward and claim it.   I’ll be sharing the directions for this later in the week!  Or you can email me if you can’t wait, or if you need any other questions answered!  And remember, I have a link to all the Stampin’Up! catalogs on my sidebar!  Have a great day!

Paper Players 45

PP45 banner

Happy Sunday!  Happy May Day!! Today is my turn to host the Paper Players

PP45 badge May 1

“Spring has finally arrived --the keyword being FINALLY! It took its good old sweet time here in Pennsylvania. The trees have budded, the flowers are blooming and the bees are buzzing, so I thought a nature theme to celebrate the emerging season would be appropriate! Create a card or project using birds, bees, flowers and/or trees! It can be realistic or fun & funky--your choice!”  I chose to make my card fun & funky!  Chevrons are very popular in the paper crafting world and this Greenhouse Gala DP had a fun chevron pattern in some pretty colors, so I chose that as my background and proceeded from there:

PP45

So you can see I’ve got a bird, tree and a flower, oh well, no bee!!!  I used a variety of elements in the colors of the DP to pull it all together:

PP45 closeup1

My little bird is from the Merry Details sizzlet; the tree is from Funky Four; the button is from the Brights collection, and the ribbon is Baja Breeze seam binding, gathered along a pulled thread.  The alphabet background is A to Z.  I also made a little tag:

PP45 closeup 3 I created it by using the Jewelry Tag punch and a leftover alphabet-stamped piece, then stamped it with a sentiment from Tiny Tags to hang on my button-embellished Peach Parfait twill ribbon.  Cute!

Hope you can find time to play with the Paper Players this week and create something with birds, trees, flowers and/or bees!

My friend Betsy has been visiting us for a couple days:
