Fun Featured Stamper

Wow, I wish this photo was better, because it really doesn't do justice to this card...and it isn't because I am such a great stamper, it's because it has a beautiful image, beautiful DP and CASES a beautiful card from the Featured Stamper of today, mommylvs2stamp!! You can see the challenge here, and her card here. The image is a retired SU set; sentiment is Essential Sentiments by MFT. Image is stamped on watercolor paper and masked and sponged with Soft Sky ink. I then very lightly stamped over the image with the retired (darn) Linen background stamp. The DP is by Fancy Pants, called In Love, and I am!!! It is so pretty! (Click on the photo to get a better view of it!) The reverse is a dark brown lace pattern, and that is what I used for the piece the brads are on. The sentiment is on vellum card stock, and I "scribbled" on the reverse side with a vanilla watercolor crayon to make it show up a little better over the DP. Thanks for looking and I hope the rest of your weekend is terrific!

A Little Pickup

One thing about surfing stampers' blogs is all the cool people you "meet". One of those is Tammy, over at Stamp Happy. I think her personality probably matches her blog name! Anyway, she has offered a challenge and you can see it and her blog here. I needed a get well card today so I thought I would do one to fulfill the challenge. My husband is self-employed and has his health insurance through the VA. I have "retired", so I don't have any insurance. Through some reading in Christian publications, I found out about Samaritan Ministries. It is not an insurance company, but a company that helps other Christians share their medical needs. I have a monthly payment, but instead of going to a mega-insurance company, it is sent directly to a person or family who currently has a medical need. It is a really neat concept; if you or someone you know could benefit from this, please check their website. So my monthly share was due and I wanted to send a card with some encouraging words along with my check. Here's my card, I hope you like it! I turned Tammy's sketch sideways to better accommodate my image and I used some hoarded jumbo eyelets!! Now I'm off to send my card!
Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories, Dotted Lines Jumbo Wheel
Paper: River Rock, Confetti White, Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Tim Holtz License Plates
Ink: Stazon, Creamy Caramel
Acc: Aquapainters, WC Crayons, Nestabilities, Jumbo Pewter Eyelets, Pewter HPH, Cropadile

Color Blocking

Sharon Johnson's challenges are always fun. This week was Color Blocking. You know how you have one idea in your head, and it turns out totally different! That's how my first card started (the blue & green one)! I did another one and although I like the first one, the second one is my favorite in its simplicity (the caramel, guava & pomegranate one)!! The colors were chosen based on the ribbon alone--I would never have put these colors together! See how you like them! (Remember you can click on the photos for a really nice close view of that yummy ribbon!)
Stamps: Holiday Blitz, Mixed Message by Papertrey
Paper: WW, DP Slab from Michaels, Purely Pomegranate, Creamy Caramel, Groovy Guava, Confetti Tan, Green Galore, Ballet Blue
Ink: Ballet Blue, Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava

Country Red

Today's card is for the SCS Limited Supply challenge, which I LOVED!! I want to do about ten more of them, because you could only use ONE color, plus white! The simplicity of just having one color is something that is just very freeing--you don't have to try to coordinate colors, just choose your images and go to it. There were lots of wonderful cards in the gallery--and some nice bright RED ones, so I chose Real Red for mine. (I know the images look a little pink in the photo, but it is all red!). The images are from a retired set called Country Collection, another $1 yard sale find! Woohoo! I stamped them in Real Red and added just a touch of ink here and there with my blender pen. The DP is Summer Picnic and a small piece from Rob & Bob's Holiday Slab. The polka dotted piece is actually adhered to the inside bottom of the card and the outside is scalloped with my corner rounder. A tiny little sentiment from PTI's Mixed Messages (love that set!) is added to my red gingham ribbon. AND I got to use my brand-new square Nestabilities!!!
Thanks for looking!

Shabby Wish

Just a quick post today of the Sketch Challenge at SCS. I used some new scrapbook paper I got called "Citrus Slide" by Stemma! Click on the photo to get a better look at how cool this paper is! I also broke out some hoarded rhinestone brads and twill....I did not think those two items would go together on the same card, but I think they work! I stamped off most of the images to get a lighter shade and to replicate the shabby look of the sb paper, as well as lightly stamping them with Sanded. To make them even shabbier, I curled the petals to crease them a bit. Thanks for looking!
Stamps: Sanded, Be Happy, Short & Sweet, A to Z Accents
Paper: Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Citrus Slide
Ink: Orchid Opulence, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery

Challenges, Challenges

This card is in response to two challenges: the Featured Stamper challenge from Sunday, and today's Color Challenge. The Featured Stamper was one of my favorites, so I knew I had to try to get that in sometime today. It was Laura Frederickson, and you can see her blog here. I used a Papertrey set I haven't used in a while because it is "springy" and since it has been "wintery" I haven't felt the need to use it! But it is has so many cute images, I think I'll be using it a lot more!
It's pretty self-explanatory, and simple, like me! Enjoy!
