AYSI3701 Birthday Dogs

Happy Friday, all!  The As You See It challenge this week is the fun "Fill in the Blank"!  This month's challenge is HERE:

This was an easy one for me, and even easier because I was just on a roll making some really fun BIRTHDAY cards with some new papers I just got!  Masculine birthday cards are always a challenge and these papers from Craft Consortium are called The Collector, and they have a plethora of marvelous assorted vintage images.  They are SO amazing, all I did for this card was to add a sentiment tag; I let the paper do all the work!  Here we go:

Since the papers are 6x6, and I didn't want to cut off any of these cute pups, I made my Basic Beige card 4 1/4" x 6 1/4", then just added a panel of the paper on top.  I diecut a Basic Beige tag, stamped a sentiment from Lasting Joy in Early Espresso, gave it a little sponging to mimic the vintage look and tied it with some Linen Thread:

I added another sentiment to match on the inside and called it all good!  Easy peasy!  I am sure a lot of you send out many birthday cards as well as Christmas, but you may have another occasion that you send out lots of cards for as well.  Halloween comes to my mind, as I have TONS of Halloween stamps, LOL, and I love to use them all!

I hope you'll share your creation with us at As You See It this week  Thanks for visiting my blog, enjoy your day and be blessed!

Lilies of the Valley

Happy Thursday, peeps! I was so excited to see a lily of the valley stamp in the upcoming SU catalog! I remember a row of them growing along my grandmother's house in the spring and they smelled SO good. I even wore a lily of the valley perfume in high school called Muguet de Bois - I just looked it up online and it goes for $50 on ebay! YIKES!  You can be sure I didn't spend that back in 1970!!!  Anyway, I'll just imagine the smell as I share a couple of cards I created with this new set along with a new In Color called Peaceful Pine, which is a lovely green, and Fresh Freesia.  Here we go:

My first one uses the smaller floral image, stamped in the Peaceful Pine, and lightly watercolored with Fresh Freesia ink.  I then die cut it and mounted on an Everyday Arches diecut with a Peaceful Pine mat.  The background was embossed with the Eyelet embossing folder; I added some pearls and white ribbon trim.  The sentiment is from the same set.

The second one uses the larger lily of the valley image, stamped, diecut and colored the same way; the sentiment is from Lasting Beauty.  I did color a piece of white ribbon with a Fresh Freesia blend for a little accent.  The background paper is called Bloom Boutique:

I also used some retired Fresh Freesia DSP.  The layout is from Try a Sketch on Tuesday:

I look forward to playing with this some more!

On a different note, John & I went to see the movie A Great Awakening yesterday; it's a historical movie about the great preacher George Whitefield and his friendship with Benjamin Franklin.  It was extra-special to us, as it was filmed in our area by Sight & Sound Productions, which is noted for it's amazing Biblical theatrical productions.  They feature LIVE animals in some of them!  (I read where they sell more tickets than most Broadway shows and it is in a rural area of Lancaster County!)  Another reason it was extra-special is that George Whitfield preached AT MY CHURCH in 1740 to a crowd of 12000 people!  It gave me goosebumps to think about it! And lastly, a family friend who works at Sight & Sound was an extra in the movie and we actually saw him in the film!  Wow! I know a movie star, LOL!  I recommend it highly!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Another Christmas Card

Happy Wednesday, peeps! Can you handle another Christmas card?  The sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown was a fun one, and I combined it with the RetroRubber Tic-Tac-Toe grid:

I chose the middle column down:  Pines, Snow and My Choice, which was embossing!  Here we go:

(Sorry for the glare in the corner--not sure how that happened!)  My pines are from Rooted in Nature (2018) and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas (2019).  I embossed my banner with the Softly Falling embossing folder and made some "snowy" hills with the Stitched Hillside dies from Lawn Fawn.  I added a border of Cherry Cobbler and a faux bow and ribbon, embellished with a sequin:

Sentiment on the inside was from the same set, and I stamped a couple of trees inside as well.  The DSP is the retired Classic Christmas!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC676 Merry Christmas

Hello, everyone!  Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend!  We have a new sketch at Atlantic Hearts:

And since I am finished with Easter cards, I am taking the opportunity to get caught up on some Christmas cards!  Here we go:

And since the challenge at the Jingle Belles this week is "whimsical", I thought I'd pull out this cute little reindeer from Clearly Besotted that hasn't seen any ink in AGES!  Isn't he sweet? I stamped him in Pecan Pie, Real Red and Garden Green, then fussy-cut him out:

He went on a little panel of starry paper, and I added some scrap strips of red, green glimmer and Pecan Pie, then put it all on a panel of embossed holly that was sitting on my desk unused from another project!  The final addition was some green and white baker's twine along with a "stitched" sentiment from the same set!

This was an interesting sketch to put together--it was a bit of a challenge, but I really thought it came together well!  I hope you'll be inspired to play with our sketch this week too!  You can see all the details at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog!

Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Happy Resurrection Day!

"The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.  Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you."  Matthew 28:5-7

Hallelujah, Christ is risen!  May you have a blessed Easter!

PP780 A Theme Challenge

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Happy Easter!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players today and we have a seasonal theme:  Spring Showers!

I took my cue from that cute pair of rain boots at the top center since I have a fun little die that matches perfectly!  Here we go:

My papers are from Echo Park's Bee Happy (love those papers); the boots die is from Impression Obsession, and the flowers are from SU's Pierced Blooms:

The sentiment is from Cutest Crew, which is my new most-favorite stamp, LOL!  I also used the sketch from Hand-Stamped Sentiments for my layout, although I realized AFTER I made my card that the sentiment is in the wrong place!  Ooops!
And since the Inspired By challenge this week is  "Boots", I am entering it there as well!

There aren't many "showers" on this card but it's certainly spring-y!  I hope you'll play along with our theme challenge this week at the Paper Players--lots of inspiration from which to choose!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

Mini Treat Box Bunny Treats

Happy Friday, peeps!  On a whim, I decided to make some little treat boxes for some shut-ins from our church--a very sweet couple!  I had recently purchased some homemade buttercream eggs at a fundraiser and thought it would be nice to gift a couple to them, but of course, I had to make something in which to put them!  I pulled out my long-retired Curvy Keepsake Box dies and made some simple treat containers:

The Easter Joy Specialty DSP is quite sturdy, so they made great boxes!  I added a diecut bunny and bow from Lil'Inkers (sadly retired) along with some Easter tags:

I slipped the candy in, closed the box and added the tags---and they'll be delivered ASAP!  And since Just Us Girls is looking for spring/Easter diecuts this week, I am adding these!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS730 Twas the Night Before Christmas

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I haven't made a Christmas card in ages, so I thought I'd better remedy that! I like to make them all year long so I'm not caught short come December!  I used the FMS sketch from Judy:

and a little diecut from a die that I got at Christmas time that had been sitting on my desk, unused!  I pulled out some holiday papers and stamps and went to work:

My papers are from Violet Studio Designs, and the diecut is from Paper Rose, diecut in Real Red cardstock.  The panel behind the stocking is stamped with a stamp from Concord & 9th called Joyful Noel, stamped in Soft Sea Foam, and the sentiment is from another Concord & 9th set called Merry Mantle.  I did add some polka dot embossing to go with the packages on the printed paper!

Another sentiment from the Merry Mantle set went inside, stamped in Evening Evergreen!

It was 80 degrees when I was making this card---not very spring-like, so I was hoping that thinking Christmas would cool me off!  Thanks for popping in today!   Enjoy it and be blessed!

Just a Little Hello

Happy Tuesday, peeps! Wow, the sun is shining here in SE PA and it's actually warming up!  Spring may actually be showing her face!   I finally broke down and got the Cutest Crew bundle after seeing so many adorable things made with it, so I sat down and played a bit yesterday!  No challenges, just some fun stamping! Here we go:

I stamped and diecut the row of kittens, then colored them with some Blends and markers.  They were mounted on a panel of Nests of Winter DSP, and I added a wee little strip of orange DSP from Floral Charm.  I stamped a row of butterflies in Peach Pie ink up the left side of my white card, then added my sentiment:

It's quite satisfying to color in these little sweeties!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AHSC675 Bee Hello

Happy Monday, all!  A fun sketch today for our Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

Fun sketch!  I used a Pretty Pink Posh stitched strip die to cut some Bee Happy papers from Echo Park for my fun little card today:

I adhered my strips to an embossed panel and added a hive, bees and flowers from the retired Honey Bee set.  I added a sentiment from the same set, then added a few sequins!

I had a few strips left over from the patterned paper, so I adhered them to the inside:

This could be used for almost any occasion!  I hope you'll play with our fun sketch this week---it's' a great way to use up some scraps of DSP!  Put on your creative thinking caps and come share with us at Atlantic Hearts!

PP779 Tic Tac Toe from Ann

Happy Sunday, peeps! Time for a new Paper Players challenge, and the creative Ann is our hostess with a Tic-tac-toe grid for us, since it's the fifth Sunday!  Here we go:

I chose the top row across of die cut, twine and sentiment!  I thought I was done with my Easter cards, but decided to send out a couple more, and I fell in love with this wee little trio of bunnies from Inspired By:

I chose to only use that little bun-bun on the left, but I did use the challenge colors as well.  Here we go:

I had not used my Tim Holtz bunny die this year yet, so it seemed a good time!  I dicut two bunnies and stamped one with a gingham stamp, then adhered a plain white face.  The carrot was diecut with Crumb Cake and Copper Clay, and everything was mounted on a stitched oval with a Misty Moonlight scalloped mat.  I added a little twine bow...I just didn't have any buttons tiny enough to add one!  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I embossed a piece of Basic White to sit atop a diecut panel of Misty Moonlight.  And here's the inside:

I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps as well:

Again, this card uses a bit more pieces and layers than I normally do, but I just love this bunny and his carrot! I think I'll send this to one of my college roommates!

I hope you'll play along with our grid this week! SO many possibilities, we can't wait to see what you do with them!  Be sure to share them with us at the Players! Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

FMS729 Rolling Waves

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I recently got the Rolling Waves bundle and I am struggling with it! I have seen beautiful things online using it, but haven't quite mastered how those diecut pieces line up properly, LOL!  I had a couple pieces already diecut, floating around on my desk, so I decided to use them with the FMS sketch this week:

So here we go:

This is way busier than I normally create, but I admit it was pretty fun to add all those little beachy embellishmeents!  I started with an oval and matching scallop of Basic Beige, then added a little piece of Everyday Happiness DSP for the "ocean".  I layered some of the surf diecuts on top after stamping some "sand" at the top of the oval.  Finally, I cut out the starfish and shells from some Shimmery White cardstock, then loosely watercolored them:

I struggled to figure out what my background should be, then remembered all the dreamy patterns in the Thoughtful Journey line, so I chose one of them.  My horizontal panel is a couple of layers of Metallic Mesh ribbon....it doesn't cover up the pattern of the paper, but adds some sparkle.  And speaking of sparkle, I added a few sequins!  I left the inside unstamped, so I can use this for any number of occasions!

Thursday night, Dana, my niece Kelly and I attended a craft class where we decorated concrete turtles in mandala style.  It was fun!  The turtle was already painted black and had a design lightly penciled in in chalk, so we just had to add our dots of color. Here is a sample from the teacher:

We got to choose our colors; originally, Cassidy was going to attend but had basketball practice, so Dana did hers in Cassidy's colors, which were predominately red:

We used styli and acrylic wands to dab on the paint.  Here's Kelly's---she really did an awesome job--check out the "bow" on her turtle's head and the eyelashes on her eyes:

It was a full house, too!

And here is my friend Beth's - she comes to my stamp classes too!  Very talented!

After all the painting is done, they're sprayed with acrylic sealer, so they're waterproof and nice and shiny!  Dana's, Kelly's and mine are in the back row from the left!  It was fun and everyone's looked amazing!

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

AYSI369 Happy Birthday Sundae

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you have some fun plans this weekend!  It's time for a new As You See It Challenge, and it's a lovely color challenge:

I love the Easter egg cookies in this basket, but I am pretty much done my Easter cards, so I chose another bunny to go with my pastel colors!  Here we go:

Since the Just Add Ink challenge this week is to add stripes, I stamped the bottom left corner with the Painted Stripes stamp in Soft Sea Foam, then added a little Soft Sea Foam strip, diecut with a Wonky Stitched Frame die from My Favorite Things.  Then I stamped my little ice-cream-sundae-eating bunny in Versafine ink and watercolored him in with Pretty in Pink and Pool Party inks:

The sentiment is from the new Notes of Spring stamp set, available only in March!  Love that font!  A little Waffleflower birthday sentiment went on the inside, with a little background stamping from Label Me Bold:

These colors are sweet for any spring occasion!  I hope you'll be inspired by them and come create with us at As You See It!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!
