CAS120, JAI68 & A Fun Day

DSCF6409

Before I show you my CAS Christmas card for today, I want to share with a picture of my lunch “date” yesterday---none other than the wonderful Elise from Mamacow Creations!

DSCF6400

We had a fabby meal and did lots of chatting!  It’s so fun to meet an online friend IRL!  And now on to my card!  This is for the SCS CAS120 challenge today, which is a sketch, as well as the Just Add Ink color challenge:

JAI_CC_68

I put to use some new MME paper, along with a chipboard snowflake from Brenda Walton:

DSCF6408

I added a simple vellum panel to the bottom, as I didn’t want to completely hide the snowflake underneath, and heat embossed the CHF sentiment in Gold Glory embossing powder.   TFL!

Have any of you ever had your children’s or grandchildren’s teeth come in on the top like this?  Those little “fangs” coming down just crack me up!

Have a blessed day and thanks for visiting!

Paper Players 48

DSCF6396

Happy Sunday! The Paper Players are back to their regular schedule after the little blip we had last week with Blogger! Nance is our hostess this week and she’s got a great sketch for us:

May 22 Sketch

I was blurfing the other day and came across a great blog called Paper Punch Addiction. Each day, Kim finds great projects made with punches and posts the links on her blog. I found this adorable card by Linda Fisher and knew I had to make one for myself!!! Well, to give to someone! So here we go:

PP48

I changed mine up just a little bit, but used the same basic shapes and punches! This was so fun—and it went together very quickly!

Now I hope you can find some time to play with the Paper Players this week---skip on over there and check out what the other Players came up with this week, and add your creation as well!

More Projects

DSCF6304

Happy Saturday to everyone!  I have a busy day, so I am posting a few more samples from the Summer mini that I made recently, along with my other club project here:

DSCF6301

I used the same frame technique as shown in my last club post; this frame is made with a 3x3” piece of cardstock.  Taking your Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, center it on each side of the square and punch once!  That’s it!  I cannot remember where I saw this, so I don’t know who to credit for such a clever idea!  This little kitty from A Touch of Kindness is colored with Watercolor Crayons and an aquapainter.  The DP is Blueberry Crisp.  Here are a couple others I made using this set:

DSCF6303

Just to show you don’t have to color in this image; it’s cute just stamped in Rose Red!

DSCF6304-1

And finally, a little 3x3 note card with a “ruffle” of Sweet & Sour DP around the image!  I think I’d better give the kitty a break and use the other images in that set!

And finally, I did get the Fabulous Florets (I was trying to resist) and did a very quick & easy emboss resist card with the silhouette image:

Here’s a closer look at the embossing, done on Textured Whisper White:

Thanks for visiting!  Now I’m off to yardsale & shop with DD & DGD!  If you have any questions about any of the projects, just email me!

Barbara’s Birthday Blog Hop!

DSCF6284

Woohoo!  Today is my sweet friend Barbara’s birthday and a whole slew of her friends are giving her a birthday bog hop!!!  I hope you will play along and give her some love!

You may have arrived from Kisa’s blog, or you can start at Tammy’s blog, or just follow along from here!  It’s all good!

It wouldn’t be right to honor a Color Throwdown girl without using the CTD colors from this week:

swatch 142

Wow, what a striking combination!!  I also used the Mojo Monday sketch 191:

Mojo191Sketch

I pulled out some BG paper, a few vintage images and went to work:

DSCF6286

These are definitely not colors I would normally choose for a vintage card, but I really liked using something unusual, and I hope she does too!  Here are a few other views:

The next stop on the hop is Carole; she’s bound to have something fantastic for Barbara, so hop along & see!!  Happy Birthday, Bar!!!

A Plethora of Projects

I wanted to share with you a few samples I’ve made with sets from the Summer Mini, as well as our club projects. Today I’m going to highlight The Open Sea. This is the project the club girls made for May; it’s called a Box Card; (or maybe it’s a Card Box, I don’t know!):

DSCF6293-1

DSCF6294-1

Folded shut, it fits in a standard medium-sized envelope; open, it can hold money or a gift card! I got the directions from Carol, but I made a few adjustments. I don’t have a scanner, so if you’d like directions, email me with your snail mail address, and I’ll send them to you!

Here are a few more samples as well:

DSCF6297-1

I loosely cased Ann’s card here for this one:

DSCF6298

And if I had a lick of sense, I would have remembered to write down the blog where I saw this cute frame made with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border:

DSCF6300

Edited to add: to make the frame for this card above, start with a 3x3" piece of cardstock. Punch the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch once on each side, making sure it is centered! Easy and impressive! Even though I love this set with the Nautical Expedition DP, I am itching to make something in colors OTHER than red & navy…..maybe next week! Thanks for visiting today!

Little Cards

DSCF6289-1

A have a couple “little” cards to share today…these are note card size (3 1/2 x 5, or thereabouts).  It’s fun to make something other than a standard card—if you have smaller images, they don’t get lost on the larger canvas!  The first one is for the Card Monkey challenge 56, to make a card for kids, using this sketch:

Monkey 56-001

Oh dear, I don’t have many kid-type stamps, but I thought the little bunny from Forest Friends was pretty cute for a little one!  I strayed a tiny little bit from the sketch:

DSCF6287-2

I plopped the heart from the upper part of the sketch and stuck it down at the bottom!  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I used a Chocolate Chip marker to only ink part of it, then punched it out with the 3-Heart Punch.   I also did some masking with the A to Z stamp on the bunny image!

For my second card, it took me longer to figure out what sentiment to use than to make the card itself!  This is for the City Crafter challenge 57, stripes & polka dots.  I know the gals over there make really fluffy, frilly cards, but this is downright CAS:

DSCF6306-1

I got this idea from Nelia and thought it was adorable!  I simplified mine quite a bit, but I still think it is as cute as a button!  The strawberry is the Scalloped Heart of Hearts diecut and the cap is the 5-Petal punch, and I trimmed one petal down to make the stem!  Sentiment is from Flight of the Butterfly!  Thanks for so much for visiting today!

ColourQ85

CQC85 banner

Happy Tuesday, happy ColourQ day! I was soooo tempted to do a Halloween card when I saw the challenge colors that Arielle had for us today:

cqc85

Aren’t these salt & peppers so cute?! I resisted the Halloween temptation and went with a “bee” theme instead:

CQC85-LeAnne

I couldn’t come up with any image that would unify these colors, so I went with my collage-style go-to layout! All the images are from a CHF set called Sweet Bee; I pulled out some Ambrosia and Nook & Pantry BG paper and Peach Parfait Patterns DP for my little squares. A couple of the squares have a few little embellishments, and the bee’s wings are Gelly-rolled:

CQC85 closeup 1

This also qualifies for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge #2, to use buttons & twine….(although I haven’t used them in a very imaginative way!) Edited to add: And it also qualifies for the Basic Grey Mix & Match challenge #44!!!

CQC85 closeup 2

So I hope you can put your thinking cap on and come up with some cute creations using these colors! Buzz on over to the CQC blog to see what the other designers have come up with and share your creation too!
