IB61 Softly Quilted

Yahoo!  It's Thursday and the weekend is almost here!  Thursday also means another Inspired By challenge and I have a real simple card to share today:

Aren't those colors and prints pretty together?  Just like a little quilt...hey, that might just be what Laurel's prompt is today!  Check it out:

This is a fabulous way to use up some scraps....of course, I have enough scraps to make a few hundred of these cards!  These are all from various 6x6" paper pads I've collected over the years....all diecut with a square stitched die, then adhered on a Naturals White card.  The sentiment is a past Paper Pumpkin (I am rediscovering all my PP sets, LOL!), stamped in Bermuda Bay and I did add a little cross-stitched impression on either side of the sentiment as well as a Crisp Cantaloupe "button" diecut from an old SU die....it's actually three layers adhered together, then tied with some perle cotton:

I put a little Bible verse on the inside and I will add this to my cancer center stash!  Now what will you come up with for this pretty little challenge?  Can't wait to see it...share it over at the IB blog!

I was looking at my blog from 2013 and I came across this photo of Cassidy in a box:

Six years later, she's still climbing in boxes!!  (Sorry both photos are blurry..the girl is always on the move!)

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

TMS492 You Are Wonderful

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I have a couple simple cards today, both using this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

I love things in threes, so when I saw this, I knew I had to play!  I sort of did the sketch from memory once I saw it, so I "forgot" that the sentiment band went all the way across...hopefully it will be okay!  The first card is for someone who did a really nice favor for me, so I made her a thank-you card using some American Crafts Shimelle papers and a couple of stamp sets:

I stamped the little feather from Papertrey's What the Doodle Feather set in So Saffron, Mint Macaron, and Merry Merlot (stamped off once), then fussy cut them out and mounted them on some stitched circles:

The sentiment from Rooted in Nature seemed perfect, also stamped in Mint Macaron:

I mounted the whole shebang on a So Saffron card base...I just think these colors and patterns are so fun!

My next card is a little note card made for the cancer center; it uses the same sketch, but the color challenge from Hand-Stamped Sentiments:

This is one REALLY simple; a layer of Highland Heather on a white notecard, then a layer of Twinkle Twinkle DSP, and some words and a sentiment from Close to My Heart's Inspired Words:

I stamped the dragonfly from Touches of Texture with Highland Heather ink, then colored it with Blends and some Wink of Stella, then popped it up on a mini dimensional:

I hope it brings some encouragement!  Thanks for popping in today!

Speaking of encouragement, Dana had been talking at dinner about work issues, and when she opened her lunch the next day, she found another little lunchbox card from Cassidy:

I guess we probably all wish for a day like that, LOL!  Enjoy yours and be blessed!  And remember...little pitchers have big ears!

Retro Rubber Challenge 105 Wish Big

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope you had a nice weekend....Monday sort of got away from me, but it's okay and I am back with our latest Retro Rubber sketch challenge!  Check it out:

No photo description available.

Yep, we are pairing with Try Stamping on Tuesday this week!  How fun is that?!  Be sure to check out what those talented stampers on their design team created!  They've used some of their well-loved "oldie" stamps too!

I am not quite sure why, but my last two RR challenge submissions have been cowboy-themed!!  What's up with that?!  I do like these types of cards for guys, so I guess that's my reasoning!  This card uses a set from 2010 called Out West...I am so glad I kept it!  Here we go:

I stamped my cowboy in Early Espresso ink on some burlap-printed paper from Authentique, diecut him with a stitched die and added a Poppy Parade scalloped mat; the sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts (2013) was stamped the same way:

I added three banners and adorned them with some enamel dots:

And on the inside of the Naturals White card, I stamped a birthday sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin set as well as some of the other elements from the Out West set:

Yee haw!  I had a lot of fun making this card and it's already out in the mail for its intended recipient!!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week...I just love sketches, don't you?  Be sure to use stamps that are at least one year old and tell us how old they are too!  Can't wait to see what you share at the RetroRubber blog!

I haven't shared a picture of Eden lately...here she is, just chillin' with her favorite pillow!  She's obviously on trend, it has SUCCULENTS on it, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP430 Coffee Helps

Hi everyone!  Happy Sunday!  It's time for another Paper Players challenge, with Ann giving us a marvelous sketch:

I've gotten in sort of a rut, making the same type of card with the same type of fold, so I thought I would make a Z-fold card with this sketch, and add a little gift card holder inside!  So here we go:

Coffee Cafe is one of those sets that has been neglected on my shelf, so I pulled it out, dusted it off and went to work!  Here is what the card looks when the band is slipped off:

I began by using my favorite paper from the Share What You Love Specialty DSP for the cup, then stamped the sleeve in Coastal Cabana, and whipped cream in Crumb Cake on some Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out.  I created my own background paper with some Coastal Cabana cardstock, and stamped the little coffee beans and hearts, then sponged the edges.  I love that SU gives us little "extra" stamps in some of their sets, and I don't use them enough!

My Early Espresso layer was embossed with the Tufted embossing folder too:

For added interest, I stamped a panel with the Burlap background stamp, shaded and trimmed the edges for the inside of my card, then added a little pocket for the gift card holder on the left side:

For the belly band to hold it all together, I adhered some burlap trim together with Tear and Tape, then added the little "HI" from the same set.  Fun!  I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week too!  We have been really impressed by the submissions lately...I think I need to step up my game, LOL!  Check out what the designers did:

FF0028 Glimmer Christmas

Happy Saturday, peeps!  I have a very quick (and late) post today; this card is so simple, it's almost embarrassing!  The Festive Friday challenge for this go-round is Mardi Gras or Glimmer Paper, and since my Christmas card stock is very low, I chose glimmer paper!

So here we go:

I already had a Blueberry Bushel card front cut and scored, so I used that as my base; I cut some Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper with one of the Hometown Greetings Edgelit dies and adhered it to the front (hard to see the sparkle!!):

Then, I attempted something new...I tried to "color" my glimmer paper "Merry" (cut from Merry Christmas Thinlets) with Blueberry Bushel ink and a brayer....it worked a little bit, but mostly got glitter on my ink pad, LOL!  Did you know that a sticky lint brush from the Dollar Store works great to get glitter off most anything?  It's a staple in my craft room!  Anyway, I had already adhered this piece of glimmer paper to an adhesive sheet, so it was very easy to adhere it to my card!  I added a sentiment from Merry Christmas to All, diecut with a Rectangle Stitched die, some sequins, and it was done!

I am also adding this to the Jingle Belles' All That Glitters challenge!!

I am not sure what you call these little magnetized building things, but they're sure fun to play with!

According to Cassidy, this is a man looking through a telescope...yep, I can see that!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!  And be sure to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players challenge!

IB60 Sending Letters

Happy Thursday, peeps!  It's time for another Inspired By challenge...boy, the week flies by, doesn't it?  Anyway, after checking out Laurel's inspiration photo, I was inspired to do a vintage/eclectic card...I haven't done one of them for a while!  So here we go:

And here is the prompt:

No photo description available.

I searched for some papers that I knew had lots of little letters on it like this...but of course, I couldn't find it!  So I went instead for some papers by Photo Play and My Mind's Eye, stamped some vintage images from various sets and embellished it with a shabby seam-binding bow.  (You can see directions on how to create shabby seam-binding HERE).

And I think my favorite stamped image is this row of vintage pencils:

Do you still write letters?  I have to admit, I send out lots of cards but don't write letters much any more!  It is definitely a dying art!  But I still love pens, pencils and paper!  I hope this will inspire you to create something for our Inspired By challenge this week...can't wait to see it!

Sledding in the snow one week, riding bikes the next...Pennsylvania weather is CRAZY!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS376 and CASCSC309 A Little Hello

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  Well, it is snowing here to beat the band, and I am waiting for my sister to arrive; she's flying up from SC and driving from Philadelphia!  Yikes!  I am praying her all the way!  I did have a little stamping time this morning since Cassidy had no school, and I made a card using the colors from CAS Colours and Sketches as well as the cute little sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I am still working through using all my current SU stamps, and this one uses Apron Love!  Haven't gotten that one inky in a while!  I cut the apron from the Gingham Gala DSP, added some Daffodil Delight straps and a little white and So Saffron pocket:

I stamped the flower stems in Pear Pizzazz and attempted to emboss the flowers in white, but I neglected to brush away some of the powder from the stems...hope the recipient doesn't mind, LOL!

I did outline the flowers with a Daffodil Delight marker just to make them stand out a bit more!  I added a couple of die-cut hearts, an embossed bottom panel and a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings!  I really like this fresh, springy color combo!

On President's Day, our retired interim pastor invited Cassidy and Dana over for lunch....Pastor Dan is so good with Cassidy, he is a blessing to all of us!

Thanks for popping in today--enjoy it and be blessed!
