KCC540 Anything Goes

Happy New Year's Eve, peeps!  We have NO plans tonight, except maybe to have a glass of bubbly, and maybe even go to bed early!!  Today is my last day as a Guest Designer with those sweet ladies over at the Krafty Chicks!

The theme for the last week in December is "Anything Goes"! I had a lot of fun this season making some non-card 3D items, and one of them was this three-sided Christmas tree luminary!  My inspiration for this came from a blog post I read by Jennifer Maker; she does a lot of craft projects using a Cricut, but she does give directions to make them by hand as well.  I immediately thought of the Stitched Triangle dies we have, as well as the pretty flocked Plush Poinsettia vellum, so I thought I'd give it a go!  I did a little bit of paper engineering, cutting, tracing, adhering and stamping, and this is what I came up with:
I began by cutting a template with the largest triangle die, then adding 1/2" edge to each side, as well as a 1/4" tab to one of the sides. The template was traced on to Shaded Spruce and hand-cut three times.  I used the triangle die to cut an opening inside each piece and adhered a piece of Plush Poinsettia inside each opening.  Each tab section was scored, and I used narrow Sticky Strip on the tabs to adhere the sides together.  I did trim off the little pieces that stuck out so that it would sit flat.  I added red rhinestones (which I would recommend doing BEFORE adhering everything together, LOL!) to some of the berries on the vellum:

And I added a red glimmer star to the stop and a sentiment stamped in Real Red and diecut to the top as well.  A standard tealight fits under it nicely and it makes for a pretty little decoration!

I made a couple of other things as well; this is a mini Altoid box that I covered with some vintage Christmas images, glimmer paper, ribbon and stamped images:

And here is the inside:

And here are a couple more ornaments I made for family members:

So what will you create for your "Anything Goes" project?!  I hope you'll share them with us over at the Krafty Chicks!  Can't wait to see what you create!  Thanks for popping in today!  See you NEXT YEAR!

The Spot 143 Sympathy

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  Unfortunately, the holidays are no respecter of persons and sadly, I find I still need sympathy cards.  I used the sketch from The Spot along with some pretty Peony Garden papers for my card today; first, the sketch:

And here we go:

The color in my photo doesn't quite match the colors in real life, so you'll just have to imagine that the peony, colored with Blushing Bride ink and an aquapainter matches the DSP nicely!  I added a diecut sentiment, stamped in Smoky Slate, along with a strip of the gorgeous new Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon (satin on one side, metallic on the other--so pretty!), and a few sequins:

The inside is stamped with a sentiment from Woven Heirlooms:

I hope it brings comfort to the family!

From Christmas evening, my niece gave Jameson and Sawyer personalized chef aprons and hats:

Cooking and baking are VERY important to these boys' family, and all the grandparents, aunts and uncles are passing down their culinary love and talents to them and their cousins!  Here's a picture of the boys making cookies at the Christmas cookie baking session their maternal grandmom has every year:

They do a better job decorating than I do!  Enjoy your day and thanks for popping in...be blessed!

Blueberry Blessings

Happy Monday, peeps! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  It's hard to get back into the swing of things, isn't it?  I am feeling really lazy today!  I finally got a few moments to get into my craft room yesterday and make a thank you card for a special generous friend!  It gave me a chance to use some of the new goodies from the upcoming Sale-a-bration catalog!!  Berry Blessings and Berry Delightful DSP are available with a $100 purchase, and the DSP coordinates with the Sweet Strawberry bundle from the mini catalog!  I chose to use the blueberry image from the set because I think Pacific Point is a very under-used color!! Check it out:

I stamped the berries (Misty Moonlight and Pacific Point) and leaves (Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green) on a piece of Whisper White and diecut them with a Stitched Nested Label die:

then I mounted it on a card base that was embossed with one of the Greenery embossing folders, and added the plaid DSP and a Granny Apple Green border diecut with an Ornate Borders die:

The sentiment is from the new set called Lots of Heart, also available in the upcoming mini catalog!  I can't wait to play with these sets some more!  Thanks for popping in today!

A couple of family pictures from Christmas morning:

Playing a new game Cassidy got (What Do You Meme, Family version---really funny!) and a pic in from of the tree:

And Ginger in her Christmas outfit:

I couldn't get Eden to stand still long enough to take a picture of her, LOL!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Merry Christmas

"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.  And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."  Luke 2: 6-14

Merry Christmas to all my blog friends...I pray you have a blessed day and I hope you take time to pause and reflect on the greatest gift of all!

KCC539 Sunflower Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Happy Christmas eve!  This is the fourth week of guest designing for the Krafty Chicks!  This week's theme is All Occasions with Lori as our hostess!
I took this opportunity to make another birthday card!  I used some bright sunny papers from Flowers for Every Season and the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and matching punch:

I stamped the floral image in Bumblebee ink, then used a sponge and a blender pen to lightly color in the leaves and flowers before fussy-cutting it out:

I stamped and colored the jar, then punched it out with the jar punch and added a little gingham ribbon.  It all got mounted on the DSP layer with a vellum oval and a stitched banner for the sentiment, which is from the retired set And Many More:

The sketch I used is from Sunday Stamps:

I hope you'll find some time this week (maybe after the holiday?) to play along with our challenge!  Any occasion is a good occasion to stamp!  Check out what all the designers did at the Krafty Chicks challenge!

Finally, some cookies!

This little guy looks too festive to eat!  I'll let you know how they taste when we visit tomorrow!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!  Merry Christmas Eve!

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child."  Luke 2:4-5

Yet Another Christmas Card

Happy Tuesday, peeps!  I am still making Christmas cards!  This one is for the staff at my bank; they are amazing!  Another friend gave me a slew of stamp sets, since she is moving and downsizing, and I came across this pretty image from a set called Beautiful Season; I stamped it in Stazon ink and watercolored it, then added some Christmas papers and a pretty fussy-cut sentiment:

This little guy looks so festive perched among the holly and berries:

I added a little rhinestone to the "joy" for a wee bit of sparkle!

And since the Christmas Kickstart and Always Fun Challenges both are asking for Christmas cards, I am linking them up there!

And I promised some more cookie pictures from Cassidy:

I am impressed at how well she's doing with that cookie scoop!  More on the finished product soon!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CAS Birthday Cards

Happy Monday, peeps!  I hope your holiday plans are going smoothly!  I have had a wee bit of fun this weekend, stamping some non-DT things!  My birthday card stash is getting low so I thought I'd better work on that!  The CAS on Sunday challenge is "Best Wishes" so I made a couple!  The first one is simply some beautiful DSP and an easy sentiment:

I did some stamping of a diagonal plaid Concord and 9th) on the Mossy Meadow card base; I think it coordinates nicely with the Honey DSP from My Mind's Eye; the sentiment from Handmade Sentiments by Scrapbook.com, is stamped on paper from the same pad.

The next one is notecard-sized; I had one of these little mice from Colorado Craft Company's Birthday Wishing floating around on my desk, so I stamped another one to go with it, mounted them on a piece of retired Smoky Slate gingham and added a little Blushing Bride scallop and a few little silver sequins:

Those little mice are just too stinkin' cute!

Thanks for visiting today!

Cassidy and mommy began making Christmas cookies over the weekend:

I'll share the results later!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Easy Peasy CTS402 Christmas Cards

Hey peeps!  Hope you're having a great Saturday so far!  I was up early today and got a few things done, so I decided some time in my stamp room was my reward!  The CAS(E) This Sketch one was a fun one this week and I made some REALLY easy peasy cards using one piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, a couple scraps of Classic Christmas DSP and some much-underused washi tape from my stash! So here's the sketch:

So here we go:

As I said, both cards used DSP from the Classic Christmas line, one piece, the opposite sides.  This one features gingerbread men and green dotted washi tape with a sentiment from an old My Favorite Things stamp set called Stitched Stockings:

Isn't that cute washi??  Love it, why don't I used it more?!

The second one uses some Santa and silver star washi tapes with a sentiment from the same MFT set, and a wee little star from an old Lil'Inker set:

I just LOVE the detail of this washi tape...I only wish I could remember from what company I bought it!  I also did some embossing around the edges of the card for a little extra interest!

Thanks for popping in today!

Cassidy and Dana were able to get outside for a few minutes the day after it snowed and made a wee little snowman:

And kind of like Rudolph, Eden was not allowed to play in Cassidy's snowy games....who knows where she would have taken off to, LOL!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!
